I play on ps4 which as you know came with a solid mic (after updates) yet most people choose not to use one when playing strikes and pvp. people invite others into their fire team but don't use a mic to communicate during teamwork oriented events. and with the new team chat feature you would expect more people to talk but that just isn't the case.
SO if you don't use a mic when playing Destiny or other games i would like to hear why. please comment below

Edited by Xurelle: 11/20/2014 8:39:44 PMI don't need to listen to every cussing, burping, farting, screaming idiot on the internet while I'm trying to escape those same idiots in real life. ;) It's very immersion-breaking in any game. And of course, female gamers with any brains don't use voice chat (at least not with strangers), because they would be hounded to death. There are lots of reasons. What this post should *really* be called is, "Why doesn't Bungie just put in a chat window?" Which would bring the community, both newbies and veterans, closer right away. Vets could help newbies with their first strikes, or to understand the different currencies/upgrade systems/faction building etc.

I'm always in Party chat with 2 or more friends
-
I'm not interested in talking to people I don't know, there's no point I only inv to party people I know or the team I assemble to do the raid, other than that, I have no interest in using the games voice chat feature

If you ever played any FPS with game speak you would understand

Another benefit to using Mics is you can talk about where to stand for best protection in nightfall and weekly strikes. You can also communicate w/ a killed commrade you need ot revive about what is around him so you don't run into a trap yourself. I had a bit of help yesterday from some players experienced with a few if these strikes and without talking to them I would not have known how easy some of them are if you stand in the correct place. For instance there are some places in ceratin stikes that you can stand when waves of apposing Computer players like cabal and vex will just kill each other off and you do not have to do anything. so without that communcation I would not have known unless I do investigation on the interwebs. but that is just too time consuming.

every time i talk on the mic my dog starts barking thinking some one is outside.... only use it for raid...

I don't enjoy hearing little kids screaming excuses every 5 mins when they die lol

1 ReplyEdited by Dyalar: 11/21/2014 5:12:05 AMI do use one. I just don't opt into public chat, because I'm not a fan of: - Mouth breathers - Bad music - Feedback - Static - Echo - Children - Whatever TV show you watch - Your loud-ass family - Nerd ragers - Bong rips - People
-
Because I'm terrible at talking and playing at the same in the crucible
-
Every time I turn voice chat from "friends only" to "public"(or whatever it's called) in a game, there's always someone that sounds creepy like he's super high or something, and after I'm done I turn off voice chat for, like, 6 months. Plus I'm intimidated easily, and having someone start randomly talking about things(mostly unrelated to the game) freaks me out a little. . . .
Mostly it's the second thing.
Heavy breathing. It drives me nuts

1 ReplyHow does this new chat thing even work? It says people have entered my fireteam chat so I press left or right or whatever and still can't hear people
-
Because a majority of the people I run into just blast music.
-
Because loud and boisterous people are vexations to the spirit. I silence my friends at times because I hate listening to bitching, cursing and blaming when I would really prefer to concentrate on objectives. Its an unneeded distraction many times.
-
I'll chat with people on my friends list or with anyone when I'm doing the raid. But, with strikes and weekly's, there is only one way to do them. Bungie made their game so linear that everyone does the strikes, weekly's, and dailies the same way. The raid is pretty much the same but it's harder and you need to be able to communicate when you go down or whatnot.
-
Sometimes the people who shouldn't talk are the ones that won't shut-up.
-
It's because we speak to each other through our minds. Also destiny doesn't really need talking. It's not Arma 3 or socom
-
Sometimes I just don't feel like talking to people over the net, you know?
-
Other than the handful of people on my F list or if I'm doing the raid, I have zero desire to talk to anyone else in the game. Too many kids, idiots or people I just find annoying to deal with that nonsense.
-
If I'm playing tiger strikes or pick up pvp I usually have a podcast playing as well. Cracked.com podcasts, if you are interested. I generally don't use a mic so I don't annoy others with my background noise. For VOG or weeklies or organized pvp I have the mic on and minimal background distractions going. Just a matter of needing/wanting communication. I find the "youthfulness" of the average make up of gamers not to my liking, so I avoid directly communicating when it isn't strictly required.
-
I use a mic in the raids because you need to communicate. I don't use it in strikes because I have done them so many times that they are boring. I don't use them in PVP because I don't want to get banned for swearing as much as I do. I suck at PVP and pretty much go full auto swearing when I play.
-
Party chat ruined all that years ago, why talk to a stranger when you can talk, to your friends
-
2 RepliesYou really only need a mic for raid, thats bout it
-
because they are fapping it while playing destiny
-
Well TBH I'll use the mic for nightfall and raids and PVE but when I'm in crucible I'm honestly doing all of you a favor because some of the stuff I say/scream while PVPing would upset a lot of people....so the mic stays off!
