I was under the impression that The Nine actually just had cells or traits from many different species or places that had been fused together. I was also under the impression that The Nine were Jovian, and that they possibly lived outside the Asteroid Belt, past The Awoken, possibly on the moons of Saturn and Jupiter. That would also make sense on why The Awoken have contact them and Humanity doesn't. Humanity barely even gets into contact with The Reef, let alone anything past it. And this is wild speculation on my part, but perhaps they're ruled by another Warmind, besides Rasputin, who decided that saving humanity was a lost cause, so he engineered a new race, possibly one he had limited control of judging from Xur's ramblings, made from the ground up using whatever cells or genetic material he could get his hands on. But still, that's just more crazy speculation on my part.

  • Isn't there a place on Earth or one of the ornery planets call the "Jovian Complex" or something like that. Wonder it that has anything to do with The Nine. We have to remember, in game, nobody alive was around or even remember the collapse. It was 1,000 or more years prior to the evens in the game. The Guardians are redirected dead from a time before the Golden Age. With that amount of time passing, The Nine could have had an active relationship with humanity back then. Just a curiosity, why does the Traveler resurrect the dead to be Guardians, and why from before the Golden Age? If the Traveler made the Ghosts, why do they seem so blind to history also? Seems the Traveler is trying to keep something in the dark.

  • That's I interesting theory. I also think that the nine are somewhere near Saturn. There's also info that point to them being involved there so I'm pretty much convinced.

  • With the new content (ttk) I believe you're actually onto something. Very insightful. If you think about it... Why would the taken king stop in the rings of saturn? What is on that plant that he is staying there when he clearly has the power to make it all the way to earth and everything? It could be that the nine are forged from the darkness but they are planning to break free of those bonds and turn against them in a "suicide mission" (?). Destroying the darkness or turning against could have an effect such as their species being wiped out completely. Just a thought

  • Also could be stopped by the travelers influence but yes the nin are somewhere around saturn. It's there territory.
