As an avid HandCannoner (two of my 3 chars use one, the 3rd one uses a Scout) I am quite interested in what Xanta Xur brought today. On those two chars, one has a fully upgraded Lord High Fixer, and the other one has an almost-there Devil You Know. Both have proven to be very versatile, powerful weapons, but Devil You Know seemed to be a bit better.
Now, between those two (TLW/TDYK) which Hand Cannon would you consider the better one?
PS: Anyone wishing to start a debate about "earning", please close the door when you leave, thanks.
PS2: Thorn, Fatebringer, Hawkmoon..... Don´t post just to mention those, because I don´t have those guns, therefore I am not interested in comparisons at the time.

There both pretty awesome I've went 20-1 with tdyk on my lock and 29-7 with last word on my hunter. Both really good guns to say the least.
-
1 ReplyTDYK for PVE. TLW for PVP. Haven't got TLW yet (I've got 33 SC, gonna buy it ASAP) but I'd figure it wouldn't do as well for raids and strikes.

I don't think you can pick one over the other...... they both serve a purpose. TDYK = Long range with good stability with 12 rounds. It's great for shooting across maps as well as being capable close up. Good all rounder. TLW = Short range with extremely fast rate of fire that works well when dealing with lots of close up targets and turning quickly to respond to new threats. Bit more of a specialist gun. I love the feel of TLW for rapid gun fights, great fun but if I need to deal a lot of damage from a distance, I would pick TDYK before TLW. Of course, a Scout Rifle would be even better.

5 RepliesEdited by steppinrazor: 11/14/2014 4:10:02 PMHave both. They are very different guns. Last Word is for close in, rapid fire fighting. Like when you get too close to a minotaur and he charges. Bangbangbangbang before he gets to you. You don't get many headshots with this gun. To me, that's what ultimately hurts it. Its perk of upgraded accuracy when hipfiring, the auto-fire recoil (even with the recoil perks unlocked) make this not a precision kill weapon. Hand Cannons do a lot of damage, so you can one shot bad guys with DYK, or 3 shot them with LW. DYK hits like a sledgehammer and has a good range. Slower rate of fire is compensated for by headshotting from further away. Both guns reload slowly, so having armor that speeds up RL speed or having a hunter with trance is helpful. If I keep playing for a while, and if I get/buy Gjallarhorn, LW is going back in the vault for DYK. LW is fun to shoot though

1 ReplyIt's like comparing a 2014 Camaro to a 1967 SS Camaro.

I haven't found a HC I haven't liked in crucible. TLW is about being in the middle of the action while most other HCs are better at 1v1 midrange engagements (except Thorn which is a damn sniper). Just my .02
-
It depends TLW: best for pvp TDYK: best for PvE

Tdyk is my go to. I got tlw today and it's real fun in PvP and I think it will melt faces once I upgrade the stability but its low damage, range, and ammo capacity per reload make it inferior to tdyk in pve.

Why not add an "I don't know" option for the people who like both of those guns equally?

THORN!!!!!

2 RepliesEdited by Flywheel: 11/14/2014 6:16:43 PMDon't discount Thorn for PvP, especially if your gloves boost reload speed (see FWC). The lingering damage upgrade prevents enemy shields from regenerating for about 4 more seconds than normal, and that can be pivotal in crowded games. It won't boost kills much for you individually but it really helps your team via assists and postmortem kills. The damage numbers give away where a guy is running to if he goes behind cover. It's also very satisfying to see a guy take cover near death and then bleed to death behind cover.

I have a fully upgraded tdyk with send it, and I love that range, so it's going to be pretty hard to get used to a hand cannon without it. Still I'm optimistic for tlw, but for now I'm in the devil camp.
-
I like my "Red Hand"
-
It depends on your play style. Tdyk is better at range, while ads, but tlw is better in close quarters hip firing.
-
If you fire accurately and like good range, dyk is way better. Lw is good for close quarters and spray and pray..

1 ReplyDepends on the perks for the devil you know! The one I use on my hunter I like more it's basically a pocket sniper rifle...
-
2 RepliesTDYK: good accuracy for easier mid range sniping against last word and suros regime users. TLW: good fire rate for most encounters at close upto medium range. Sniping with last word requires practice and patience. I like using last word for smaller maps, and devil you know for medium sized maps.

10 RepliesTLW fanboys are all over this. TDYK is better in every way except for close range. TDYK is a hand held sniper with great stability. If you can aim, you'll win. People suck so bad at aiming or doing anything that doesn't require using a supercharge or just holding down their right trigger so TDYK reigns supreme. I have both weapons maxed btw.

I've had pretty much all the hand cannons to date. I currently carry DYK and TLW. I've only ever used hand cannons really since trying out a range of ARs including Suros Regime, and FR and Scout. Have to say that it totally depends on the tactical situation. DYK is basically a mini sniper rifle and therefore great at long range across open spaces. When that red dot is over the head...target's a goner. TLW is much better for CQB: it fires faster and with a reload booster you almost don't notice the pause. However it's accuracy takes time to fully ameliorate and compensate for. So like most things in life, it's about finding a balance. FWIW I think DYK is about the best single all-round primary weapon in the game especially with reload boost and upgraded mag. I'm amazed it hasn't been nerfed actually :) Peace out.

Edited by Hollywoodtragedy018: 11/14/2014 7:07:06 PMDevil you know-pve Last word-PvP(CQB) Lord high fixer-PvP(if you like ADS) Fatebringer-hard raid(oracles are a pain without disrupter) Hawk moon-if you want have a completely balanced revolver look no further Thorn-PvP (if your looking for a aggressive sniper build) Every revolver has its strengths and weakness only true thing is that.Hunters have a easier time with them with stability and reload speed upgraded abilities.

Unfortunately I don't have the devil you know, so I can't comment, but I just got TLW last night and the un-upgraded TLW is better then an almost fully upgraded Lord High Fixer. The only downside is that since TLW is an exotic, I can't use an exotic sniper or rocket launcher if it's equipped.
