I feel that the center tactic is risky only because if the shield goes down the whole team can wipe. If it stays up we always have success but it's getting to the middle and leaving the middle where timing is critical. I like to skirt around the sides if I don't have the relic and shoot and distract Atheon to draw his fire temporarily, that backfired once when I pulled him too far away for the center team to shoot. From all the strategy videos I've seen, the center strategy is the way to go, it's just timing, communication and execution from all teammates that plays a larger roll. I think we have gotten really good at the final boss and should be able to take him down more consistently from now on.

I think you are right. I wonder though if it would be faster to just bring the relic out, shield up at the side of the portal and just start pounding with the shield special. It does crazy damage and the auto drift would be safer away from the middle. While the relic was retrieved, the outside folk could stay in place. We could shift 2 to the side it comes out, set up right there on exit, start earlier shots, and not have to worry about that center platform navigation. Faster would be less oracles also.

I found the shield only drifts if it's not fully charged. If you watch the super meter and just tap the two top buttons to activate it, the Super will launch normal...if you are not charged all the way, you kind of tuck up and drift forward a bit. The issue with everyone scattering is that Atheon does a lot of splash damage and someone will most likely be killed and there are still supplicants floating around and at least in the center they can't blow up on you. We can certainly try a different strategy and I would live to see the affect of the shield doing damage. I can usually sneak a shot in on him if everyone scatters from the dome with time left but haven't seen the hit count show up so I don't know it's value.

It's good to know that about the drift. I can rarely hit Atheon with shield charge from the middle. I haven't had enough hits to judge the arc path and there is too much going on around me to see what it does. Can the supplicants penetrate the shield? Will they blow up in proximity and we can be safe in the shield?

I'm not sure if they can go through the shield. But you're right....there is soooo much going on.

Also, anyone that glitched in portal could just walk out and be auto-cleansed.
