Ok, so a few days ago I was doing the nightfall with a friend. No chat problems. Then I'm playing with him and one of his friends on my alt to do the nightfall again, and they're in party chat. I join the party, and my mic doesn't seem to be working. I can't hear them, and they can't seem to hear me. However, I can hear all other game audio: narrator, SFX, everything. It's only later on out of frustration that I unplugged the headset from the controller, and now magically I can hear them talking. They let me know they hear a buzzing sound when I plug the headset into the controller, yet they can still hear me (though I don't want to put them through the buzzing sound just to be heard).
I've tried the stock mono microphone that comes with the PS4, and that still works fine; however, getting chat only in one ear and having to keep the TV volume up isn't why I sprung for a $200+ headset. I ran through a raid with my clanmates having the stock mic plugged into my controller and my TB turned on and over my head for game audio, but having the earbud in while wearing the headset is uncomfortable, as well as not really solving my issue.
Restarting the console doesn't work, leaving the party and rejoining doesn't work. I've yet to try a different game, since this is the only one I own for my PS4 at the moment. But considering it worked that same day and only seemed to cut out after joining up with the friend of a friend and going into a party chat, I'm at a loss for what the problem is. I've had issues joining a party and getting a message that I can't communicate with some other person due to their NAT settings, but that's an issue on their end communicating with the rest of the party, not a fault from my side of the ethernet cable. I hope this is just a Destiny issue rather than a more broad one, but I'm not sure what to try next other than finding a friend who lives close by and seeing if they have a headset I can try for troubleshooting purposes.
Since the mono mic works, I doubt it's an issue with the controller port. Is anyone out there able to give me some advice on how to fix this?

1 ReplyEdited by Oracle: 11/9/2014 7:55:53 PMI had that issues a while ago with my Turtle Beaches. It sounds like the talkback cable might be broken. Here's some links to TB's pages for your cable (double check to make sure it's the right one). I'd also contact their customer support to make sure you're buying the right cable if you're unsure. http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/cables-parts/ear-force-ps4-talkback-cable/498 http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/cables-parts/ear-force-ps4-chat-cable-in-box/497
