Dark Below isn't a DLC, or an expansion An Expansion implies you are expanding on content, but the content was already there, you just bought a key to open a door that was built into your own house. Enjoy your purchase

  • I want to know why they couldn't have pushed destiny back 3 months an put dark bellow on the game disc. I highly doubt that the dlc is so incredibly ground breaking that they needed that little extra time. Early 2015? I can under stand needing 6 months to render an design an cast. A little under 3? Something smells odd

  • The on disk content was there as a PLACE HOLDER, just basically blueprint models of content they want to implement into the game, UNFINISHED areas, still needing more rendering work done, a little polish, inclusion of interactive areas if any, adding enemies, working out zones to block or leave open to access like jump areas, there is a lot of work that still needed to be done to those areas. Do you really want the big empty unfinished areas for free? Seriously the stupidity of some of the people on these forums..... Keep in mind, ACTIVISION had hand in calling for cuts and Bungie may have intended those areas to be in the original game till cuts were called for and they had to just lock the areas away to include them later instead, rather than scrapping their work entirely.

  • Maybe you should do some research. 90% of the areas that are DLC were in the alpha version of the game, and had been constructed already at that time.

  •
Keep in mind, ACTIVISION had hand in calling for cuts and Bungie may have intended those areas to be in the original game till cuts were called for
And that somehow justifies this? They aren't all placeholders, the entirety of king's watch and the Jovian complex were completed in the beta. Enemies and Bosses.

  • Games like CoD and BF all have initial infrastructure on the disk preloaded as DLC. The difference is that they are not connected to any free roam area so you can't glitch thru the map and get into them. I've been in these areas on Destiny, they are far from finished.

  • If they are finished then where are the enemies? Or haven't you noticed that the enemies in Destiny don't just walk around randomly, but followed programmed patterns. Since you are such an expert computer programmer, why don't you explain to me how easy it is to code in all the multiple enemy types that are found in missions, strikes and raids.

The enemies are in the places I listed, Are you feeling okay? Do you want me to call someone to check on you? Also i never implied that I had any noteworthy knowledge on coding but I can tell you that the enemies are there and that you are spouting nonsense. Where you assumed that because I believed that Disk Locked Content is a shady business that I had knowledge of coding is insane.

No they aren't. None of the "finished" areas are populated. I have been in all of them except the ones they patched. Nice try tho. Edit: the ones I haven't been in I've seen videos on. No enemies.

Yeah, I looked it up. A few dregs and a captain. If that handful of enemies is all that this area contains then is be surprised. Not to mention invisible walls and a whole lot of other unfinished architecture. ALL of the other areas are completely empty. And none of them LOOK finished. The only one of these I hadn't seen a video of or been in was kings watch. So go ahead and give yourself a big pat on the back for that. You got me there geek! Edit: it's funny the video you posted as proof of your argument mentions enemies but never actually shows them. Such a gullible young chap, believe anything you see on YouTube huh? Lucky for your argument I saw a video that did actually show a few dregs. In either case you are still a moron for posting this video as proof!

  • I saw that on another video. The one you posted mentioned, but never showed any enemies. Yet you cited it as proof. I admitted that you were right and the enemies where there, but the video you offered as proof was not so. So no I didn't contradict myself, sorry try again

  • Tylers gullible? "ohh look a new area looks pretty complete.... ohh wait cant glitch the enemies to spawn clearly no where near finished" i will say this your argument does stand up pretty well concerning the dark below as its only 3 months most of the work will have already been done and the last bit will be more checking the bugs and such but if these maps are for the house of wolves??? thats a year down the line at best they wasted development time not preparing ground work for dlc so that the game doesnt need to be redesign to add in new areas but full blown making content they have no intention or giving you

Clearly, another person who has absolutely no idea how complicated a computer program like this is. Yes, of course considerable work would Have to be done on these areas in order for them to be released 3 months after launch, duh. "Checking bugs and stuff" you make it sound so simple, but do you have any idea how much work is involved in bug checking such a complex program? Do you have any idea how much work is involved in programming enemies into a specific scenario, such as the raids or strikes? These enemies don't just run around randomly, they have specific behaviors based on the situation and the area they are in. All of this has to be programmed, checked, and rechecked several times before they are ready to launch. I've taken extremely basic computer programming courses. It's hard enough to write a program that makes the alphabet spawn randomly in a 64 square matrix. And that is a baby land program compared to something like this. I have no idea how much work is involved in a programming project of this magnitude, and neither do you. I guarantee its nowhere near as simple as you make it out to be. Edit: again, any game that releases DLC within the first few months of launch would have done just as much work on their DLC as Destiny did. The major difference being in most of these games (I.e. Fps releasing new map packs and such) they are not directly connected to an existing free roam area. So there would be no way to glitch into them and see them. Anyone who thinks this isn't standard practice obviously has no idea what they are talking about

I simply stated that putting Disk Locked Content on the game and then making people pay for it when it was already there is shady and a dirty business model. No idea where you are going with your "Programming and Code is Hard so you're wrong" argument. That has nothing to do with anything as far as my statement goes. You go on with this Programming is SO HARD and then call me a geek when I say that you are wrong and have proof? Get off your pretentious high-horse and accept that you were wrong ON SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T MATTER.

  • Accept I'm not wrong. Your argument does not negate mine. You are claiming that it is "locked away content" which implies that it is finised. I have seen the areas and they are clearly not finished. All of the areas but the King's watch don't even have enemies, so how are they finished? The fact that all these enemies have to be programmed in is a valid point. They have a framework locked away in their program, but that framework isn't finished. So, you are wrong.

  • The fact of the matter is they had unfinished content that they couldn't complete during NORMAL Development so they were "oh well, make it dlc no time to finish" so they went on to sell it as DLC, proof of this is seen in the game. Your argument doesn't debate nor negate mine because your argument is invalid.

  • No, you originally said it was finished content. There is nothing invalid about the points I'm making. Not to mention you are arguing about 3 story missions. When clearly the lions share of content is going to be the new raid. That is hours of gameplay. The three story missions are negligible anyway. Take Halo 2 for example, where Bungie couldn't extend release and had unfinished content that just got scrapped. I'm glad Destiny is adding the missing story missions into the DLC along with the raid, strikes, and crucible maps that clearly weren't meant for launch. The fact of the matter is we are getting a lot more content then you normally get in a DLC for 15 dollars. The "it's already finished content locked away in the game" argument is a misinformed ignorant argument!
