Best Hand Cannon? is it Thorn?
What's the best hand cannon? I went through the pain of getting Thorn. Though it looks cool, it sucks. Reload is slow.
Can anyone confirm damage for fully upgraded Handcannons?
Handcannons are hated on already. My problem with Thorn is getting it. It is a hard bounty then you get one of the coolest looking weapons in the game that just does not pull its weight. You have the Last Word and Hawkmoon that can be obtained a number of ways and it is better than Thorn. You actually have to earn Thorn by finishing the long bounty.
since this Post started I have acquired TDYK, Timur's Lash, and Hawkmoon [finally]. I also have been using Thorn a lot. My feedback is with TL, you can get great unique re-rolls through the IB reforge system. Thorn is funny to use! Shoot at the ships and you'll see what I mean. Overall it is actually very powerful. Great impact. Easy target precision acquisition. By far though, Hawkmoon is the most balanced. Hawkmoon has ridiculous range and accuracy.

1 ReplyNow where do I start...... Thorn used to S.U.C.K. When I got thorn I felt like I was ripped off, but still I kept it in my vault. I am so glad I did. After thorn's buff it is a -blam!-ing beast. I own Suros users as we'll as hawkmoon and last word users. Still trying to scrape them of my boot. Only drawback is that the DOT doesn't stack up. You better run when you that dark infernal noise of that hand cannon.

The Last Word is definitely the best hand cannon if you prefer fast firing weapons. You spin it around your finger when switching to it, you pull the hammer back after each shot, and it really does a lot of damage. Having gauntlets which increase the reload speed of hand cannons definitely makes up for the 8 round magazine of the Last Word which gets used up quickly due to the fanfire. By the way, Icebreaker is by far the best sniper rifle in the game. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!

Thorn wrecks in PVP. Fatebringer owns in PVE. a good choice for both was lord high fixer. Really sad that I dismantled mine... It was my absolute favorite HC until fatebringer. Actually the handling is still my favorite over all others.

2 RepliesEdited by Chit Chat: 1/13/2015 6:18:45 AMIt's not that Thorn is bad. It's that Hawkmoon is the quintessential handcannon in the game. Not a fair fight. You think the reload is slow? Should've seen it before the buff. Only 6 rounds and half the reload speed it is now. Thorn now contends with the other handcannons quite well. It's because of those special bullets it has that calls for the reload speed and low round count. You do damage without even looking at them. Just fire and forget. And because of its low clip it's easier to get to that last round. The round that does a nice bit of extra damage. Try it it's nice. It does have its place amongst the exotics and any veteran Thorn owner will tell you the same. Also Thorn can 2 shot in crucible if you get headshots.

7 RepliesFatebringer is by far the best hand canon in the game due to it having explosive rounds, firefly and the fact that it does arc damage. It can also hold 12 shots in a clip.

This footage is me from a few months ago when I was level 25. If I can do that much damage with it at level 25 before i even upgraded it. Imagine what it can do now in the hands of a level 32....

Thorn is awesome, but Hawkmoon is much smoother to use in my experience. I'd give a slight edge to Hawkmoon.

2 RepliesIt really varies on your play style. The Last Word is meant more for a fast pace type of player. The Thorn is more for that player looking for the precision kill. Basically more conservative. While the Fatebringer is more of the crowd control. I think of it more of the raid type. Then there's the Hawkmoon. It has a pretty big clip and it there's 3 bullets(completely random) that cause more damage. So there is a bit of luck involved. THESE ARE MY OPINIONS. OBVIOUSLY NOT EVER ONE WILL AGREE. So, don't be dicks.
