Nice thing about being American is we're on average about a dozen times less likely to be beheaded, shot, bombed, gassed, kidnapped, starved to death or killed by minor illnesses than most of the rest of the world. So yeah, Americans don't like dying any more than anyone else, but we don't exactly have to plan for it on a daily basis and can reasonably expect to not die in the next few months.

Some places, yes. I personally don't live in a major urban center, D.C. or on the Mexican border so my view of American safety may be a bit skewed. Still, I think even the worst places in the United States are probably safer than some of the best places in, say, Syria or Somalia.

I don't smoke, am not overweight, and don't have any cardiovascular or pulmonary diseases or family history of either. I live in a low crime area, have adequate nutrition and good access to healthcare. I work in a retail store with an excellent safety program, and spend most of the rest of my time at home where fatal risk factors are virtually non-existent. I have a very low likelihood of dying in a car crash (0.01%) or shooting (0.0025% or less). Overall I have no reason to expect to die soon; thus it is reasonable to expect that I will instead [i]not[/i] die soon as that is the only other option.
