Why would a second game benefit bungie? Why not do something original for consoles and create a massive game instead of small spin offs of the original? I personally would keep spending money on a game that progressively added an entire game worth of content instead of a brand new version of a game just with a new number infront of it. Eventually making the whole galaxy and most of earth playable and explorable. Would anyone agree with this? Would anyone like a console game fps that keeps growing like a pc mmorpg?
Update1: Seem like alot of people like this idea, but would you still be willing to pay the 60 for regular and 100-120 for ultimate/collector's editions of a expansion. Remember in what I am talking about is a full games worth of content. I would gladly pay that price to have an unrealistic experience, but would you?
Update 2: lots of people seem to like this idea so I think its time to address different issues people a coming up with.
1. All of the consoles have memory expansion or upgrade options which allow increased storage memory. Check your consoles support page
2. Previous gen ie ps3 and xbox 360 can't handle it. They can with reduced overal graphic settings whats currently employed for this game and any other that is on all 4 platforms. Obviously in a few years those consoles will be obsolete and players will naturally migrate to current gen consoles as support for last gen consoles disappear.
3. What about new players starting after a new "full size expansion" or FSE for short. Well currently my view on the matter is for there to be 2 options
1) allow the to purchase D1 digitally for a reduced price 20ish bucks and able to purchase FSE D2 later at regular price.
2) allow players to bundle the purchase FSE D2 with D1 and digital content for an additional price of 15-30 dollars. Bargain brains will love that.
Along with purchasing this new player/current players new characters would receive a exp boost of 2x degrading as the character gets closer to max lvl. This allows veterans and new comers alike to get from grinding and questing to being part of the action quickly with out diminishing the overall game.
4. Another big point someone brought to the table is upgrades to the overall game engine, mechanics, graphic, characters, and etc. You have to remember this is an install game its resident on your consoles hard drive. We are not playing on N64 any more. Your consoles are more or less a condensed PC. These changes can be made through massive patches and/or through the FSE installations or a combination of both . These capabilities have been employed throughout many MMOs lifespans.
I know there are grammar errors though out my post please remember I do this from my phone. Also we all know destiny 2 is on the disc so can do we get a cryptarch joke or 2.
Next update will consist of ideas for the expansions. Lets see if we can be heard.

yeah I'd just like to see them add on to them current game, like more areas on the planets, more l00t more raids, more story in the new areas. I'd hate not being able to go back to that one spot on venus just because Destiny 2 is a seperate game
-
So to keep it the same as WOW and expand overtime
-
I think this would be a cool idea, more like the MMOs on PC, just getting a huge expansion that is actually worth paying for every few years. For example SWTOR is about to launch their expansion on Dec 9, for $20 they are adding in a ton of end game content and 2 whole new planets in addition to raising the level cap. I would rather see Destiny have this kind of model but for some reason I don't see that happening.

in a ny minute. Sign me up
-
I would dump a shit load of money into that. I would definitely need to drop a 2tb hdd in also.

Edited by Doc SoCal: 12/2/2014 11:42:29 PMIt can be both. Think Rock Band... Destiny 1 - Cool Game Destiny 2 - Cool Game Combined, exported, etc... Mega Destiny - Rad game. All of the general Rock Band games were stand alone AND massive expansions. You get the idea. At some point there would be a tier were the engine evolved and may create reverse compatibility issues but that is a ways down the road. Now... how can I export the AC/DC Track pack into Destiny? ; )
-
Id pay 100 bucks for this. Just so I dont have to level up another character from scratch
-
The glory days of the game expansion. None of this "DLC" crap. Gimme a sec *sniffle* I got some nostalgia in my eye.
-
Destiny 2 is probably already on the disk.
-
When they said it was an MMO, I assumed this is the system they would use, but overtime it seems less likely.
-
Destiny 2 is already on disk, it's another 25% of Destiny 1. In fact Destiny 3 & 4 are already on disk as well.
-
They've already said characters would transfer over....
-
I would 60-100 dollars for this. It would be awesome to have them release a full game as expansion and craft it in such a way.
-
It should be, but its not going to be :(
-
This would be awesome. Full games worth of content to add onto the exsisting game. Id pay regular retail for that. If destiny 2 comes out and its a whole separate game...with no part of the first carrying over...wont be buying. If its a separate game that would allow us to continue our gaurdian from where destiny leaves us ill prolly buy it.
-
This would take up to much home internet, this will really affect you if you have a strict Internet limit. Imagine trying to fit a 40gb game into one a 20gb home internet limit. But destiny is a 10 year game, so it is going to be HUGE after 10 years. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it is not going to happen.
-
Never gonna pay for Destiny anything, ever again.
-
Personally I think, that's what we all thought was going to happen. How wrong we were. This fact alone says console and not PC quality gaming. This is why I'm disappointed the most, I thought finally a console company was thinking outside the (x)box for a change.
-
I like the idea of having one game that just keeps getting larger and larger. The only problem is how do you convince people to start playing much further down the line?
-
With destiny 2 I'm hoping to see some dramatic changes in gameplay systems. I think that a rework of the intelligence, strength, discipline system is needed because it currently doesn't add much to the game. I also think a rework of the light system is in the works. The system isn't very good IMO. These changes might be more easily implemented with a new title launch instead of with a dlc update.

I posted a similar thread a few weeks back. IMO this would be great!
-
Would be a good idea. Idc if it was 60 dollars either.
-
Would be great if Destiny 2 went side by side with this one with our characters and weapons. Instead of a whole new game maybe base it on a different solar system, such as the fallen home system, taking the fight to them and each expansion would unlock new worlds there, then Destiny 3 would be the cabal and so on and so on
-
If I could take all of my characters and weapons with me to destiny 2 then -blam!- it i don't care I will buy destiny 2
-
I would like to port my characters to the new one.
