Why would a second game benefit bungie? Why not do something original for consoles and create a massive game instead of small spin offs of the original? I personally would keep spending money on a game that progressively added an entire game worth of content instead of a brand new version of a game just with a new number infront of it. Eventually making the whole galaxy and most of earth playable and explorable. Would anyone agree with this? Would anyone like a console game fps that keeps growing like a pc mmorpg?
Update1: Seem like alot of people like this idea, but would you still be willing to pay the 60 for regular and 100-120 for ultimate/collector's editions of a expansion. Remember in what I am talking about is a full games worth of content. I would gladly pay that price to have an unrealistic experience, but would you?
Update 2: lots of people seem to like this idea so I think its time to address different issues people a coming up with.
1. All of the consoles have memory expansion or upgrade options which allow increased storage memory. Check your consoles support page
2. Previous gen ie ps3 and xbox 360 can't handle it. They can with reduced overal graphic settings whats currently employed for this game and any other that is on all 4 platforms. Obviously in a few years those consoles will be obsolete and players will naturally migrate to current gen consoles as support for last gen consoles disappear.
3. What about new players starting after a new "full size expansion" or FSE for short. Well currently my view on the matter is for there to be 2 options
1) allow the to purchase D1 digitally for a reduced price 20ish bucks and able to purchase FSE D2 later at regular price.
2) allow players to bundle the purchase FSE D2 with D1 and digital content for an additional price of 15-30 dollars. Bargain brains will love that.
Along with purchasing this new player/current players new characters would receive a exp boost of 2x degrading as the character gets closer to max lvl. This allows veterans and new comers alike to get from grinding and questing to being part of the action quickly with out diminishing the overall game.
4. Another big point someone brought to the table is upgrades to the overall game engine, mechanics, graphic, characters, and etc. You have to remember this is an install game its resident on your consoles hard drive. We are not playing on N64 any more. Your consoles are more or less a condensed PC. These changes can be made through massive patches and/or through the FSE installations or a combination of both . These capabilities have been employed throughout many MMOs lifespans.
I know there are grammar errors though out my post please remember I do this from my phone. Also we all know destiny 2 is on the disc so can do we get a cryptarch joke or 2.
Next update will consist of ideas for the expansions. Lets see if we can be heard.

Agreed!
-
Destiny 2...hahaa now that's funny
-
It sounds great will I be around for it that remains to be seen. I don't know if this game can hold my attention that long. It good but 10 years good?
-
Reason they would release a new disc is to update the programming methods/graphics with the then state of the art methods. It would also allow them to roll over to new (and hopefully improved) servers that can support quicker/better processing. Technology advances so quickly, that it would be more beneficial to provide a whole new disc. Plus, people seem to respond better to physical merchandise rather than digital downloads because of the sense that they physically own the game, rather than a digital download that could be lost with a major glitch in the system. Just my take on it.
-
They have already confirmed that your characters will continue into Destiny 2 and beyond. So it will, in essence be a gigantic expansion.
-
I am fairly certain bungie said that's what there 10 year plan was. It was to make a massive multiplayer shooter on consoles.
-
You know they won't We all know they won't They'll just keep making sequels separate from the first
-
i love this idea. but you and i both know it will never happen
-
Why are you worried about a game thats not coming out for years? lol
-
Destiny 2 is linked to your account online. Your data will transfer from one game to the other, but nothing has been said if the areas on 1 will be available on 2. I sure as hell hope it is.
-
What, you didn't know?!?! Destiny 2 is already on the disc. WHAT A RIP OFF!! CAPS RAGE ORRMG RAWR!!!! #sarcasm

Edited by ZombieHippo: 12/9/2014 12:03:07 AMThat's what I thought this was. In all honesty I bet Destiny 2 will be that game. This is an expensive beta...
-
Bump agree
-
Bungie has already said our characters transfer so i assume that's what they're doing
-
I honestly don't know how they will do it. Will they bring on the current planets to destiny two and create more content by adding stuff to them and more planets or will they ditch the old planets and make new ones on destiny 2 (which is stupid but possible because of last gen limitations). I hope it doesnt become something where i have to switch disks to play. Just put it together, like a real expansion
-
I wouldn't mind paying $60 and that would be awesome if they did that
-
I honestly would hate to see another brand new game come out and completely disregard all the work and time I put into my first char. I really hope they make it just a huge expansion.
-
I would pay for a second games worth of an expansion. They sold destiny as an mmofps so they should go full mmo when it comes to growth
-
I said something about this a while back. I hope Bungie is indeed going in this path. The game is beautiful as is. Maybe for next gen, they can introduce a patch which will bump the FPS from 30 to 60 when the next installment releases.
-
Excellent idea, I was honestly hoping this was what they were doing with the whole 10 year thing. My biggest concerned the space it would take up on my HDD
-
I think this is a incredible idea. Look at Starcraft 2 or WOW, why can't destiny play out in the same way? One game multiple expansions that last 10 years. Just keep adding updates that may or may not be paid. Everyone downloads the update however those that didn't buy an unlock key won't be able to access or use the respective content.
-
That would be awesome! But butt!!!
-
Activision and bungie will do sequential releases that is how they work, problem is destiny base fans are in most part different from cod base fans
-
Edited by Ve7n00m: 12/2/2014 8:51:54 AMSo seeing as it'll be next gen only do people who own Destiny on 360/Ps3 get the original Destiny installed on there next gen system along with Destiny 2 for no extra cost?
-
Yes I would continue to pay for another cd ;)
-
yeah I'd just like to see them add on to them current game, like more areas on the planets, more l00t more raids, more story in the new areas. I'd hate not being able to go back to that one spot on venus just because Destiny 2 is a seperate game
