Why would a second game benefit bungie? Why not do something original for consoles and create a massive game instead of small spin offs of the original? I personally would keep spending money on a game that progressively added an entire game worth of content instead of a brand new version of a game just with a new number infront of it. Eventually making the whole galaxy and most of earth playable and explorable. Would anyone agree with this? Would anyone like a console game fps that keeps growing like a pc mmorpg?
Update1: Seem like alot of people like this idea, but would you still be willing to pay the 60 for regular and 100-120 for ultimate/collector's editions of a expansion. Remember in what I am talking about is a full games worth of content. I would gladly pay that price to have an unrealistic experience, but would you?
Update 2: lots of people seem to like this idea so I think its time to address different issues people a coming up with.
1. All of the consoles have memory expansion or upgrade options which allow increased storage memory. Check your consoles support page
2. Previous gen ie ps3 and xbox 360 can't handle it. They can with reduced overal graphic settings whats currently employed for this game and any other that is on all 4 platforms. Obviously in a few years those consoles will be obsolete and players will naturally migrate to current gen consoles as support for last gen consoles disappear.
3. What about new players starting after a new "full size expansion" or FSE for short. Well currently my view on the matter is for there to be 2 options
1) allow the to purchase D1 digitally for a reduced price 20ish bucks and able to purchase FSE D2 later at regular price.
2) allow players to bundle the purchase FSE D2 with D1 and digital content for an additional price of 15-30 dollars. Bargain brains will love that.
Along with purchasing this new player/current players new characters would receive a exp boost of 2x degrading as the character gets closer to max lvl. This allows veterans and new comers alike to get from grinding and questing to being part of the action quickly with out diminishing the overall game.
4. Another big point someone brought to the table is upgrades to the overall game engine, mechanics, graphic, characters, and etc. You have to remember this is an install game its resident on your consoles hard drive. We are not playing on N64 any more. Your consoles are more or less a condensed PC. These changes can be made through massive patches and/or through the FSE installations or a combination of both . These capabilities have been employed throughout many MMOs lifespans.
I know there are grammar errors though out my post please remember I do this from my phone. Also we all know destiny 2 is on the disc so can do we get a cryptarch joke or 2.
Next update will consist of ideas for the expansions. Lets see if we can be heard.

I assumed this is how they are going to do it. I haven't read anything that states it will be a whole new game each release. Wouldn't make much sense otherwise, but... I have been surprised
-
-
I would love to see this come to fruition.
-
BUMP THE -blam!- UP
-
Kind of sounds like how this game was advertised. You don't realize it yet but Destiny 2 is already on this disc. They will claim placeholders yet D2 will be a 250 mb download and we will spawn from the other side of the map so you think it's new.
-
I said the same thing just expand this game job done.
-
I like dissss.... Plz listen bungie
-
An interview by MoreConsole already confirmed the entirety of your character will transfer over to Destiny 2.
-
Responding to title... to much to read. Well it would be nice I highly doubt it will be happening that way destiny 2 will likely be a complete start over. Could be wrong but doubt I am
-
Destiny 2 wouldn't be called destiny 2 if it's just a large expansion.
-
Destiny 2 is already on the disc but it's locked. Didn't you know? Lol
-
-blam!- destiny 2
-
*facepalms my -blam!-ing face off* You are all idiots
-
Would be cool.
-
the idea you're suggesting is the whole reason I'm bought into destiny in the first place. I really hope this is the direction they go
-
Edited by Farashto: 12/11/2014 12:20:21 AMYou didn't know it, Destiny 2 is already in Destiny. Just locked right now.
-
Think that will be right that you know... But with all news and updates inside... :)
-
The consoles wouldn't really have the capacity to run with two games the size of destiny, and destiny 2. If they use 2 games it will run a whole lot smoother
-
Yeah, That would be great. So long as it plays good and doesn't glitch a shit load. And hopefully by then they will add vault space.
-
I agree. What we just got was a content patch. Not an expansion. I want a proper expansion adding many new planets/moons, new features, ect, that's when they should of done the lvl increase/gear reset.
-
No way bro. If they didn't start over then I'd imagine a new player would have to drop the initial $60 plus all of the expansions just to get all the current content. Besides, I think i heard something about our characters rolling over in the sequel if we want them to
-
I would buy a large expansion before I bought destiny 2. Though I wish they made the end game (raids) stepping stones for progression, instead of vendor bought expansion gear better than previous raid. Hell they could let vendor get you to 30, just dont give any stats/effects. If bungie is going to make expansions, they need to figure out proper progression
-
Bungie will lose so much money if they do this. Do you think theyre actually gonna hand out one of the best selling video games of all time? Lol. No sane person would do this.
-
Yes yes and yes to me it's the only way destiny 2 can be amazing if they just drum up new areas it's gonna be destiny 1 all over again it needs to be connected I couldn't agree more
-
No no no , if it goes 10 years (if) I don't want to have 1ps3 dedicated to the entire storage space of Destiny . And a 2nd for my 160ish games I currently own. Plus I like going to buy it drivin home , happy and Open it . The while process , and the growth of the physical collection . Beside they aren't going to be doing it that way anyway. It WILL be a physical copy. Even the packaging distributors for the cases get paid too.

Agreed!
