Father passed last year from a spreading cancers and brain tumors. I too turned to video games to get my mind off what happened.

Remember even ass-hats can go through some hard times, but it doesn't give you an excuse to be an ass-hat. If you don't believe him, fine, don't comment. I can't believe so many people on these forums are complete d*cks. Look bud, I don't know if you're telling the truth or not, but regardless, you have my condolences. Stay strong. 3 RepliesA lil confused here. So you're thanking Bungie for destiny distracting you from your pain but where's Rockstar's shout out? You only give them a mention but go on a bit more about Destiny. How is it you seemed to have noticed an immediate difference about how Destiny makes you feel about your dad when you just found out two days ago? What's the purpose of posting a thread [i]now[/i] when you found out [i]two[/i] days ago? And I also see a lack of thanking Activision as well even though their name is on this game too.

Why didn't the daddy is dying thread pop up when you found out, or yesterday when you were trolling other people, instead of today?

In 2 days when this doesn't work what tragedy are you going to add to this list? I'm guessing car accident, but that would be too easy. Gaming is also my medicine for when I am low or temporarily depressed, I think it can be classified as such as a psychological medicine/therapy for dark times. Again, best wishes and I hope that your father gets better/the treatment he needs!

Mike96e ^^^ Everyone will handle losses and tragedies, differently. The most important thing to remember is that you have to wake up, everyday, and create your own purpose for living. At the very least, when you are sad, just think to yourself, "How can I make the world a better place? Better than it was, yesterday?" True love is the kind of love that promotes growth and prosperity, allows forgiveness and understanding. Not everything is perfect and never will be. But the ability to change your perspective is unique to you! There is more to the world than living & it all starts with your attitude towards life. Good Luck!

I feel for you man. Been through shockingly similar stuff myself lately. This whole year pretty much sucked ass. I turned to things that weren't very healthy to distract me at first, but then Destiny came out and I became addicted to it instead. Still not "healthy", but it helped me through some tough shit and kept me from making a lot of worse decisions. I hope your dad recovers. Keep strong and go kick some alien ass.
