Friedrich Nietzsche and Destiny! The whole story arc.

Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you. ~Friedrich Nietzsche I’ve posted this or something like it before but for some (sinister?) reason never appeared on the forums: Here is the real story, at least my guess, of Destiny. ALL the enemies are fighting are on the same side, they just all don't know it. Rasputin exists in two versions, the future Rasputin who is also the Vex unified intelligence and the present Rasputin, the Last Warmind. Remember that Rasputin was “made to win” and it has been outlined before by other posters so I won’t bother but essentially Rasputin, seeing the only way to win against the Darkness, is to become Darkness ultimately in the form of the Vex. It has also been revealed that the Vex exist outside the boundaries of time and are in the present time (and distant past) via time travel. Okay…so that being generally known and accepted: The Traveler is the future (and ultimately present) nemesis of Rasputin/Darkness/Vex. We don’t yet know it’s origin but let’s assume the Traveler too is a time traveler like the Vex and is running from the Darkness. We already know the Traveler has been running through space and maybe time and eventually arrives at Earth 800 years ago, and ignites a golden age. My theory is that traveler knows the origin of the Vex/Darkness and because of various time line/paradox issues the future Rasputin and Darkness is most vulnerable at this point in time; this is the point is where history hinges and is making a last gasp to stop it/them. The Fallen: The Fallen serve Rasputin the Warmind. We know that they are scavengers, refugees maybe for the Darkness, they serve “machine gods” and collect tech and resources. This tech and resources are for Rasputin the Warmind to build a defense against the Darkness by using the minions of Darkness, the Fallen, and this army Rasputin builds becomes the Vex. We also know that the Fallen are “guarding” something at Skywatch, which turns out to be Rasputin. Guard him from what? You. The Vex: As already established the Vex are the future Rasputin. They have travelled through time chasing the traveler and building their forces. They serve the direction and will of the future Rasputin, and constructs that exist outside of time like the Garden and Vault are ways for Rasputin to communicate with his forces and alter the past. The Hive[/b]: The Hive are the biggest mystery, but here is my guess: The Hive are the FUTURE result of humanity’s corruption by the Darkness if the current timeline continues. The Hive too have been sent back in time and work with the Vex, that is why they are never seen in conflict with them. Remember too that the Hive seem to have trans-dimensional tech: “they broke the Bekenstein limit”, (which according to the Hawking-Bekenstein theorem requires a trans-dimensional singularity). Also, back to Skywatch, why do the Hive suddenly show up when you tinker with Rasputin while he is booting up the array? Because they are there at the direction of the future Rasputin who knows this is the point in history in which he is broken free and wants to make sure you don’t have time to interfere. Also, it is noted that the Hive have seen “thousands of worlds fall to the Darkness”; they seen it, not done it. They are not the Darkness per se, but creations of the darkness. This also implies that have been around for a LONG time. Also of note, they tend to have generically humanoid forms, perhaps altered with future nano-tech that seems like magic. So why do the Fallen fight with the Hive and Vex? Because they are servants of the present Rasputin looking for technology which the Hive and Vex have, they are not aware that they on the same side. The future Rasputin does nothing to stop or inform the Fallen because he knows that this is part of the process that allowed him to come to power and doing so could alter things against himself. So in summation, the Darkness that we are fighting is actually the Darkness that we ultimately created. *EDIT* This also makes some sense in regards to DLC info, that Omnigul was interacting with Rasputin in some way...though no one is sure how or why. Also the Grimoire cards state that the Hive netherworlds and Vex time gates are somehow linked and related to one another.

 • P.S.- This also may explain that Forbe's mag theory, from Reddit, about the Guardians being the darkness. The primary driver of this is that the Fallen supposed think the guardians are the Darkness and if they are serving Rasputin that might be why they would think that. Also, it explains why the traveler would want to raise an army of guardians to help him.
