does anyone know the answer, Is the current raid gear useless?

so besides reading the article that they are already starting development on Destiny 2 which I won't even comment on,(It's not like Deej or anyone else from Bungie will reply anyway). after reading the article and explanation of what's coming in the 1st DLC I have 1 question I would really know the answer to. Will you have to be at lvl 30 to get the new raid armor that gets you to lvl 32, or will my lvl 28 or 29 characters still be able to get that gear from doing the next raid that comes out, I ask because if the gear that gets you to level 30 is going to be worthless when it comes to getting to lvl32 then why would I spend the time wishing for lvl 30 gear now, when I can wait a month and spend my time wishing for lvl 32 gear from the new raid. I have only done the current raid 2 maybe 2 and a half, once got nothing but shards and energy and spirit bloom, another time I did get an exotic and a legendary raid gun. Knowing that the loot system is so random and not wanting to do the raid 20 or more times to hopefully get the raid gear for my 3 different characters, when I read the article I realized I may not have to if I can just wait a month and do the new raid 20 or more times to "try' to get the lvl 32 raid gear, Why (unless I'm bored) would I want to do this raid over and over to possibly get raid gear that is going to be useless (when and if) the moment I get the new raid gear. anyway that's the question I have, I really liked Destiny when I first started playing and everything I did was new to me, I even enjoyed making my second character and attempting to glean more of the story from the hap-hazard collection of unrelated paragraphs that go along with the missions and strikes. It wasn't as enjoyable as I created my third character just so I could use the gear that I so thoughtfully received from the cryptarch as I was playing one of my 1st two characters (and yes the 2 exotic engrams I bought from Xur and put in the vault for my 3rd character to decrypt did produce exotic armor FOR THE 1ST TWO CHARACTERS, THAT BOTH ALREADY HAVE EXOTIC ARMOR). If the question I proposed is in fact the case, the why not just let people equip four pieces of exotic armor to get to lvl 30?, you know they will just have to take it off and trash it or put it in the vault again(if you have space) when/if they are lucky enough to get a raid piece to get to lvl 32. I somewhat understand the reasoning behind not allowing more than one exotic weapon being allowed at one time, but lets be honest when it comes to the loot in destiny no one WANTS to be legendary, we all want to be as exotic as possible, wouldn't the speaker and the useless gunsmith and all the other "scared" BUSINESSMEN in the tower benefit from me being as badass on the battlefield as I possibly can. Not in the crucible, but when we actually battled the enemy? I hope I can enjoy Destiny sometime in the future as much as I did the 1st three weeks I played. As for now its twice a wk usually, to get coins on tuesday, and to see what Xur has for sell friday morning, even then it's the SAME THING OVER AND OVER AND OVER. What happened to "something NEW for users to do EVERY DAY" Just my questions and opinions.

  • I was wondering the same thing. I'm assuming the new Raid will have its own gear, since the VOG gear had Vex/Oracle specific attributes. The question will be what level do we need to be to enter the new raid? If it's less than level 30 then VOG armor is probably useless or at least not necessary. There will be probably be additional armor that we can get in the DLC in addition to the new Raid armor anyways.
