Not because they wanted to continue Halo, they just need a job like everybody else in any type of industry. They also realize Activision will be Bungie's downfall.
If they could make a AAA game with a independent studio, they would have never went back. But there is no independents creating AAA games, just to expensive.
You have some learning to do.... Don't think you really comprehend how the industry works. Do you have your own bills or still live at home?
Then you should understand why they went back, most have families an bills just like everybody else. Don't let an interview deceive you, they are under contractor so they technically can only have praise an positive things to say.
