So some friends and I were discussing the Gjallarhorn last night and we pretty much all pronounced it a different way. Their opinion was that the J is silent and pronounced as a soft H and I feel like they are willfully ignoring the J. When typed into Google Translate it says that Icelandic was detected and it pronounced both the G and the J. (Which I think is a point in my favor btw) However I do not profess to know the Icelandic language so I would like to see how other people pronounce it, therefore I thought I would bring it to the forums. If there is yet another way to pronounce it please feel free to post it in the comments.
=)
Edit: Thanks everyone (well almost) for posting. I don't know much about the Norse mythology being of latin descent, so I really liked hearing from those who are in the know. I also highly enjoyed most of the rest of the answers. It's interesting to see how different peoples interpret/pronounce the same word. If I were going by my own known rules for languages, the "LL" would have been the "Y(ish)" sound. So thanks again for being helpful, this community isn't as bad as a lot of people think. =)
And due to one of the early posts that made us laugh we all have decided to henceforth call it the "Yolohorn" just to be dicks. So thanks for that too. 8D
Edited by Twinkerdoodle: 8/2/2015 5:04:02 AMProperly it's gey-all-are-horn. Kind of how Mjolnir is Thor's hammer, the gally is mythical horn in norse mythology.
