Void Damage weapons
I feel kind of stuck at my lvl when i cant do enough damage in the Nightfall strike because i dont have any void Damage weapons. Since you cannot buy weapons with void Damage, what can one do? Wait for a lucky RNG drop before one can enjoy the endgame?
Feels kind of strange that i dont really see the purpose of upgrading for exemple my Ice breaker to 300, when its quite useless in the High lvl strikes because of its lack of void Damage?
Or is it something i have missed?
Hope so, because this kind of sucks....
Anyone else have the same problem?

1 ReplyI solo nightfalls and the primary weapon i use is ice breaker. Its not doing burn dmg but it still packs an enormous punch. This week it really helps to have a void rocket launcher though I uses it for the minotaurs. To be clear elements have no benefit except in certain circumstances, them being for sheilds (match shield color with dmg type and you do more dmg) and if the particular mission has a burn on it. Match the burn elements and you will do around 3x dmg. This is only on certain things nightfall is one but its not always void, last week was arc, next week will be solar then all 3. Burn dmg applies not only to you, but enemies too. Ie this week the boss and minotaurs do void dmg and will kill you in under a second if your in the line of fire even if your lvl 30 and maxes out gear. Kill them fast or duck and cover take a shot duck repeat.

Crusible have a void fusion for sale. i manage to do the nightfall summoning pits with ice breaker and a blue lvl 19 void fusion solo.

Vanguard quartermaster has a void machine gun. I believe the Crucible quartermaster has a void fusion rifle, not 100% on that one, though.

I just wanted until I had access to a weapon that had the damage I needed. I play a Warlock so void was never really an issue for me but when I first started and it was arc burn... I was in trouble. Just grind out the marks for something from the vanguard or group with a buddy that has weapons that can rip the shields that you need help with.

I find every mission requires at least 2 different elements so I use 1 from special and the other with my heavy. For the record, that shotgun was 2 hit kill against the toughest purple minotaurs in the nightfall. And to answer your question, elemental damage is the deciding factor between surviving and dying, it makes that much of a difference. Put your ice breaker away until the final boss appears as it's next to useless against high level BLUE and PURPLE shields. You can use it to 1 hit the shanks though, but after that part put the gun away. Last weeks nightfall, ICE BREAKER was extremely useful, where as VOID was useless.

2 RepliesThe best way to do it is with a fire team. As far as primary weapons go the only void damage is Aetheons Epilogue. There are a few void secondaries and heavies as well, but they would be crucible marks or vanguard tokens.

Do the raid each week. 3 of the best void weapons in the game are from easy mode. And don't forget to account for the minions shields. That "resist" that pops up means you're screwing up. My load out this week for the servitor part... Aethon's Epilogue (void AR) Ice Breaker (solar sniper to drop the shielded shanks from the door) Unfriendly Giant (arc for the captain's face) After that you can go all void. Aethon's epilogue Praedeth's Revenge or Wizard 77 Truth or Corrective Measure

Edited by A K: 10/31/2014 3:25:02 PM...specific damage type (Fire, Arc or Void) is allowing you to do MORE damage with weapon of said type. if im not mistaken its adding 35% to weapons current damage based on the current weeks modifier - imo this is something that helps you through the Nightfall with bit more ease. nowhere it is said you cannot do enough damage with your regular weapon yes, a fully upgraded Legendary with VOID damage will do 35% more damage to baddies in Nightfall compared to your fully upgraded Legenday without VOID damage (that's for this week anyway), so use Void weapons IF you have them, but you should still be perfectly OK to go through Nightfall with simply fully upgraded Legendary weapon with ANY damage type ...it would b completey different story if damage output of weapons w/o VOID would actually be decreased, however thats not the case

Gunsmith will sell guns with void, occasionally rares. Even though they're lower level they will be effective with void modifiers.

The only weapon slot you would struggle with is your primary as you would have to complete the raid in hopes of getting atheons epilogue P.S. im sick of reading posts like these where people haven't even been bothered to check around the tower before complaining on the forums about things being unfair/hard/down to luck

Nightfall is more about using the weapons with the right damage modifier. You can still use Ice Breaker, but it will be less efficient because using void will give you a 3x bonus damage. Raid has 3 void legendary weapons to offer: Atheons Epilogue, Praedeths Revenge and Corrective Measure and therefore is the best resource for Void weapons. Other than this, you can rank up particular factions which have Void weapons to offer (just don't get a shotgun). I would not bank on RNG to give you what you need.

Snipers and heavy. Buy ammo things. Then run vog each week to get the void weps. It will get better :)

Anywhere you can spend marks, you can get a void weapon. Icebreaker completely leveled will eat through a void shield fairly quickly, even with Epic on. Spend the energy on it.

The modifier is random each nightfall week] its not just void dmg, the ice breaker is still great no matter what.

I think some factions do have void weapons. I wont be on this weekend but if you need help on monday (before refresh) and you are on XB1 I can help I got Atheons epilogue which is an AR with void damage.

Play strikes u will eventually get void damage weapons. Got all 3 of my void weapona ( my rare sniper and fusion rifle and heavy machine gun) from strikes. Yes therw rare and not legendary but they f up the adds in the nigjt fall because of the void damage. And therw easy to max out. Hope this helps.
