MAJOR UPDATE:
Deej responded to me calling his attention to this thread in another thread. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/76633207/0/0
It will probably get buried rather quickly because every time he posts, 1000 replies follow.
You weren't ignored. I read that.
The point that Harold was making was that, when someone plays a game for 100 hours, you learn a lot. We've obviously created something you want to play. It's very obvious that you want to talk to us about how it can be better. When we stay focused on game feedback, good things can happen.
EDIT: Please read the article I linked to before posting. I have been accused of taking his statement out of context, which I do not feel I did at all, and I want to make sure that no one feels like I mislead them.
Harold Ryan: It's so broad. When I read a lot of the feedback, and I see it's after playing for 100 hours, it's hard not to couch that in, well if you played the game for 100 hours... What other game do you play for 100 hours, right?
This is not grounds for dismissing our feedback like you suggest. I'm calling you out. What games do we play for more than 100 hours? Since you don't seem to know of any, please allow me and my fellow gamers to educate you.
Fellow Bungie.net users, please feel free to add to this list and/or tweet away @Bungie or @Destiny your ideas about how many other games you can put more than 100 hours into. I'll start.

Edited by Pango ds: 11/1/2014 8:46:15 PMTo give a comparison. I've played 12 hours on Shadow of Mordor and am 16% through. The equivalent of that on Destiny I was on the Mars missions and I messed about/idled in the tower for a while. That's the difference between the lack of content on here to SoM. SoM I haven't done some of side stories as well so there is even more content that will put it well through 100 hours. The combat system on there well advanced compared to point and press Destiny. They revenge stuff is cool and the cut scenes and I haven't even played PvP yet. SoM is basically the game I was hoping Destiny would be. That and Halo will be keeping me going through to the new year at least and probably with dlc's beyond.

I've played hundreds and hundreds of hours of cornhole and horseshoes.

I have literally 3 years worth of time in runescape RUNESCAPE

Edited by grimtooth: 11/1/2014 8:44:13 PMI am currently running a test program for a AAA title with over 500 player/tester and the folks we look for to join said program have over 200 hours in the game with at least 3000 matches under their belt. If you are going to write off the players that have the most time in your game then you have a disconnect problem with your player base that will damage your game in both the short and long run.The other pat is the title I work for right now just did a major update and it took less than 30 minutes to download the whole 3.92gigabytes on a standard comcast cable modem. Most people that do the digital downloads of a game normally take 30 minute to and hour and a half to complete the process so there is another thing to think on. I figured I would just toss that out there.

I was having a laugh with a few folks I work with and we decided to look a little more into what old Mr. Ryan had to say publicly VS a few vetted truths on Bungie. Now to work for Bungie you have to have worked in the industry and have a solid track record working on AAA titled game that have shipped or have a hard to get skill set they need. you can check this out by using the tab to the left of you screen and look toward the bottom where is says more and then click on careers. Now having said that Mr. Ryan said that he was couching thing people said after seeing that player have 100 or more hours in the game. I am not sure of Mr. Ryan's reasons for saying this but I have tested many games in 30 years and in the last 15 I have helped set up a lot of test program for a few of those companies that have done AAA title and done them very well and the one thing we looked at before bringing a tester into any of those programs was how much time the person had playing the game. The people you want giving feedback both good and bad are the one with the most time playing the game. So either Mr. Ryan is not a competent leader by anyones standards in the industry including Bungie or he has other motives for says what he did in the interview. And yes I did go over it a few time just to make sure I missed nothing. The truth will come out at some point when a disgruntled bungie employee decides to post a bunch of inter office memos showing why we got screwed, till then I will still play this with my friends till some of the other titles launch ( not COD) later this year like many other people I know and they will migrate away with their money for greener pastures to play in and will not look back and destiny. Just a thought from someone who has been around for awhile. Oh, and I have see all the stuff on the disk they left out and that makes Mr Ryan's statement as sincere as a harlot's kiss.
-
Are you still adding games to the list while I am slowly(stuff pulled me away from my phone at work) tweeting each game individually to them? I will never finish tweets at this rate haha
-
Harold you got owned!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Chrono Trigger I have played that game hundreds of hours on each release (SNES, psx, NDS) Why? Because the story is compelling. I absolutely love replaying that game, grinding hours to max STATS so that I'm more effective against enemies, solo killing Lavos 5 minutes into the story just to see one of 13(?) Different story endings
-
I'm excited that they are working on the latency issue
-
Lost Odyssey
-
Team fortress 2 Do I need to explain why?
-
This guy gets it. But not Harold. He doesn't.
-
Every game I have ever had and I really don't want to try to list them. Even the games I did not like I still put effort into them before trading them in on another one
-
2000 hours on gw2 across 4 level 80's.
-
NHL 2000-14 (15 isn't all that appealing to me. But I've probably got 20 hours in it.)
-
Can someone please send me a Xbox live trial code please, destiny is getting really dull now that mine expired, I will help with vault of glass or strikes....... just some one please help.
-
Bump!
-
This is beautiful keep it up. I will add Saints Row series, Dead Island, Dead Rising series, Left 4 Dead, Fallout ( all of them, can't wait to play 4!), Half Life 1 & 2, Infamous ( all again, I replay them from time to time), the Batman Arkham series ( I enjoyed all of them), Metal Gear Solid, Legend of Zelda, many more hours in lots of other games. Those are just the tip of the iceberg and I could go on forever like that list. This article just proves how they don't listen to feedback or have any clue what they are doing. I am dropping the game after reading this. Time spent in game doesn't equate to enjoyment level. Ffs it takes just that long to get to play the end game first go through, and this makes him sound like a joke. Just because you have a cool job title, doesn't mean you know anything. He stepped in it this time people haha. I wish he would take some feedback from the fans because he sounds like he needs a reality check as does a lot of the gaming industry tbh.
-
Translation: "We have your 60 bucks. You've already paid us, why the hell should we care what you say after we have your money?"
-
Half of these games would not constitute 100 hours
-
Bump. I myself have well over 1000 hours in the Monster Hunter games, I average out at about 350+ hours per game. I've got over a hundred in the Dragon Age games, Mass Effect games, Batman Arkham games, Shin Megami Tensei games, Guild Wars, WoW, Legend of Zelda games, Infamous games, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and many more. Those games provide me with what I want and need, and don't over promise things, with exception to the last fifteen minutes of Mass Effect 3, and the futility of your actions in DA2. Time spent playing should feel like it is worthwhile, and a long playtime doesn't mean there is no room for improvement in a game. Bungie will learn that eventually.
-
The final fantasy series, ratchet and clank series, soul caliber series, dark souls series, mortal kombat series, Pokemon series, elder scrolls series, assassins creed series, fallout series
-
"Splinter cell series" beat them all on xbox, beat them all on GameCube, beat them all on ps3 remastered, easily clocked in over 1000 hours on those games. Resident Evil 4. It's still better than 99% of the games I play now. I've beaten it at least 15 times. GameCube, ps2, ps3 HD, ultimate HD on PC. Final Fantasy (how you could you put destiny playtime above ANY FF game?) Legend of Zelda. All console versions and handheld versions. Best game series ever created and if bungie thinks they have a chance of touching it they should quit now. I love destiny, but I would go play OoT or Twilight Princess or Minish Cap or a link to the past anyday
-
Edited by FireflyPunk: 11/2/2014 2:59:54 AMMan, I read that whole interview and it doesn't sound like Harold knows what the -blam!- Destiny should be. Reads like another leader that didn't listen to his team and can't admit when he made a wrong turn. No seriously team, Quikster and The Netflix streaming price doubling will be totally cool. This will totally work. What? Backlash? The fans will eat this up. 3.2 million a day. We're rock solid. Can't do any wrong. Thorn Bounty being a good example!? Wow. Just wow. No wonder all the talent left the studio. And this list proves he has his head squarely up his ass. What games do you play for 100 hours? A shit ton of them. Tons, provided they have the content to keep people engaged. Sayonara Bungie. It was nice knowing you, before all the douchery.
-
Any monster hunter game, easily put 250 hours into mh3u
-
Edited by grimtooth: 11/2/2014 6:01:51 AMyou can add in the first MMO RPG for console that was done right, everquest online adventures by Sony for the PS2. They can look at that to see what a good console MMO is all about and the time sink it was. Before the first expansion my group of four people had over 500 hours in the game.
