What the hell is the purpose???
Let me just re-write this whole thing...
Most Role Playing Games have a Progressive Leveling System.
That is a System where, by gaining experience, a character can go from Level 1 to max Level with time an effort.
Destiny is NOT a progressive system.
In order to get to higher Levels above 20, you must rely on RNGsus to drop you Armor with greater Light.
It is NOT based solely on time and effort... it is based on LUCK.
Further, unlike a normal RPG that rewards you for new levels with something like additional skills, abilites, etc. Destiny just gives you a higher, golden, number.
Ergo, there is no real incentive or reason to be higher Level other than to gloat to others that you are.

10 RepliesEdited by aboniks: 10/31/2014 9:50:03 PM
Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and... Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten? Nigel Tufnel: Exactly. Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder? Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where? Marty DiBergi: I don't know. Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven. Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder. Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder? Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.
The Dark Below: It goes to 32

21 Replieshaving u only able to get to 32 with raid gear insures that players are playing everything destiny can offer. I bet ur just sad coz u cant grind at the old loot cave to get everything u need to max out. if u wonna get to lvl 32 play the entire game as bungie intended not just one small part
-
32 is better than 30. Good enough reason for me
-
5 RepliesNo 1 - 28 can all be obtained by grinding as you can purchase legendary armor. 29+ is BS based on RNG and 30+ is solely based on Raid RNG...
-
2 RepliesIt does take time and effort. If nothing is dropping for you suck it up, level up the faction of your choosing, and buy the gear you want its not that hard to understand.
-
8 RepliesThe light required to go up a level is an exponential progression. Going up a mere 2 levels will take a heck of a lot of light above and beyond what's currently available. I don't believe they want to make the current raid gear or exotics nearly worthless, so it'll be interesting to see how they plan on pulling this off mechanically.
-
Rng is time.
-
Because new raid is level 32. Each consecutive raid will get increasingly difficult to ensure the necessity of all the raids as stepping stones
-
4 RepliesI guess for a 10 year game they didn't want people maxed out within 2 months of release. I imagine they will most likely drip feed the max level cap for years to come
-
5 RepliesI agree. Although technically, as you don't have a zero chance of drop then statistically RNG is still time based, just within a range.
-
So you can grind for more rng rewards
-
7 RepliesYou can go up to 29 without rng's help. What's the problem?
-
23 RepliesThis is probably the worst whining topic yet. I've never in my life read anyone actually complain about the level cap being raised, even if it's only attainable via the raid. I don't like you or your complaints, so let's get this mute going...

5 RepliesEdited by AmishTV: 11/2/2014 5:54:02 AMJust start over and rewrite the whole thing after you figure out what you want to say. As far as bitchy rants go this is a 1/10
-
8 RepliesSo now everyone has to look even more identical as regular legendaries and faction armor will be worse than useless
-
6 RepliesHigher levels directly translates into more weapon damage and personal armor. Upgrading guns only does so much, your light level adds more power to your weapons.
-
1 ReplyIf you start thinking about games too much they all become completely pointless an no fun, it is dangerous. But I Dont mind it because now my effort from vog will make my time in the new raid easier/doable.
-
Based on level advantages, an increase in 2 levels is fine

1 ReplyEdited by psycho joe: 10/30/2014 7:10:27 PMOn pve im guessing... level 30 difficulty for story missions, strikes, and weekly stike will be a thing after dlc launch because of 2 more levels for cap. we are able to go up to 30 yet have only level 28 missions and strikes. notice how i never mentioned the raid (level 30 option) if u were ganna mention it people.... i wanna be 29 and do level 30 strikes! I needzzz a challange!!! But DAYUM LEVEL 32 RAID WILL BE TOUGH... at 1st

Its all about the $$$ that's all companies care about anymore.

1 ReplyApparently self-gratification is a bad thing....

1 ReplyWow (no pun intended) have you EVER played an MMO? Traditionally with each expansion there is a level cap increase. Like WOW for instance.
-
You're gonna have to continue to shell out money if you want to excel at the iron banner. That's not right
-
What the hell is the purpose? Ergo, there is no real incentive or reason to be higher Level other than to gloat to others that you are.
You do more damage and you can take more damage. You can play at a higher difficulty.
-
Just 2 levels is a joke.
