How to Obtain Cool Shaders
I wanted to start a sticky where people could post details on the way they obtained their shaders to help people searching for specific shaders. The forums are very negative nowadays and I want to introduce a friendly community post back into the system.
(This is the way I obtained these shaders as for some there are many ways of obtaining them which even I am not sure of.)
Chatterwhite - Defeat Atheon on normal
Thunderdevil - Cryptarch rank 18 reward
Beowulf - Crucible reward
Million Million - Iron Banner (purchasable)
Achilles - Crucible reward
Broadsword - Cryptarch rank 12
Bloodpact - Tiger strike reward

I'm starting to think it is just as random as loot drops. I'm level 37 with the cryptarch and he's only sent me one Shader and it was a crappy blue/grey one. Other people get cool shaders all the time from him. Rank 8 with Dead Orbit and yet to see a shader from them. Rank 6 with Vanguard and same thing there. Received Bloodpact about 20 times from strikes, same with the blue/orange ones from the crucible. Beyond beating the raid for Chatterwhite, and the 2 awful basic shaders the lady in the tower sells, I believe they are completely random.

I got thunder devil twice and I'm only like rank 10 and I got the first around rank 8

I got the God of War from a Cryptarch package and Bloodpact from the Crucible.

Yeah this is a bit flawed. You are correct in where you get them from, but ranks are all wrong - all random.

I got God of War from the cryptarch, never got thunderdevil and my rank is probably somewhere around 35-45...

A lot of this shaders are from cryptarch and it's all rng you can get any of them at rank 5+

I was given Cytheraen Bloom twice from Tiger strikes, along with Lunar Elegy. I'm pretty sure my Cicero came from Crucible. Hopefully RNG will bless me with Sparklepony & Amber Hoplite.

6 RepliesI've gotten all of the camo shaders (that I know of, broadsword, thunder devil and substance 321) from cryptarch packages.

Never seen broadsword mate ... The whole systen is rng is RANDOM.. the only shaders you can get without much fail are queens , iron banner and chatterwhite.. though chatterwhite is not 100% but ive gotten it 3 times so far.. Other than that the things you listed are all wrong

Cryptarch rewards random. I'm level like 60 and haven't got a shader.

I got god of war from lvl 9 crypt.

I got god of war from lvling my vanguard. I got it at rank 5 or 6

2 RepliesNo determined level for shaders with any faction all RNG based Im level 41 with cryptarch and have never gotten Thunderdevil or broadsword but Ive gotten god of war and such

I am rank 29 with the cryptarch and never seen any shaders outside crucible, tower, and code ones. I also hear that Praxic fire can't change colour so should I be caring much?

The majority of shaders that aren't faction specific are obtained through four actions: Cryptarch- as a random reward in rank packages (no specific rank) Crucible- win or loss doesn't matter The VoG- shaders can be given out in the chests and from the bosses on normal. Tiger strike package- I've only seen a few from this and they were usually the ones you can buy.
