Advanced Emotes for Destiny (images and infos)

So yesterday I thought about a way to increase the emotes from 4 to 16 and the post got really high on Reddit. Today I made a simple infographic with some UI ideas for this advanced emote system. I'm not saying is the best, only way to enhance communication on Destiny... it's just my small contribution on this topic, because we definitely need more communication. ;) Types of emotes We're going to need at least 2/3 different typologies of emotes: 1. Long animations in third person view, viewable by the player (like the current ones). 2. Short animations in first person, viewable by the player, with audio cues (similar to the one in Battlefield when you spot someone and you see your hand pointing). 3. No animations viewable by the player (only the other players can see your gesture), audio feedback. Actually 2/3 could be the same type. Basically, type 1 actions are intended to be used in low danger situations, for entertainment, while type 2/3 are more tactic and don't require switching to third person view. Note: I'm not saying, in any way, that this should replace voice chat. Last Edit: I believe it's already too late for Bungie to implement a feature like this (or a commo rose) but the message for Bungie is very clear: people WANT more ways to communicate with other guardians. We want an easier way to voice chat with friends and also more emotes to interact with strangers. It wouldn't be that impossible for Bungie to work on these features and add them to a future DLC (2015?). Please Bungie, consider this topic! As a compromise, a first step could be add (as many people commented) a simple 8 emotes system, adding a double tap + direction on top of the system in place right now. Double tapping the dpad is definitely not that weird

 • Yes i'm so glad i'm not the only one that thought of this. Here are 4 of my idea's about Emotes. Feel free to ad any or new idea's. Honestly someone needs to make a poll on Emotes in Destiny so someone at Bungie will notice. 1. HAVING MORE THAN 4 EMOTES During my time playing Destiny's Beta I never thought I would find myself using Emotes like I did. The day of teammate's meleeing you, shooting you, throwing grenade's at you, crouching up and down to get your attention are over now that we have Emotes. I found that people were even nicer if you can believe that. But communication felt like it was limited with only 4 options of Emotes. I think just like many other people that having 8 Emotes feels about right. Any number more I think would be too much. 2. BEST EMOTE BUTTON FORMAT FOR CONTROLLERS Again i'm glad i'm not the only one that thought of this. I think that the best button layout for having 8 Emotes is the ''TAP'' DOUBLE TAP'' This seems like the more efficient choice rather than having Wheels, Pop up Menu's, Columns, Diagonal directions on D-pad, or Button Mashing Combo's. These feel too fidelity and time consuming. While having two Emotes for each direction on the D-pad UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, with the ''TAP'' ''DOUBLE TAP'' would be quick and easy with less fumbling. EXAMPLE ''TAP'' UP on D-pad for 'Wave' Emote ''DOUBLE TAP'' UP on D-pad for 'Salute' Emote 3. CHOOSING AND ASSIGNING EMOTES I think there should be at least 40 different types of Emotes. 20 MALE Guardian EMOTES and 20 FEMALE Guardian Emotes. This should be enough so that everyone would feel that there character would be unique and stand out from the crowd. You start the game with the standard 4 Emotes and as you rank up you unlock new Emotes and new SLOTS for more Emotes. Each direction UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, on the D-pad will have 2 SLOTS for 8 different Emotes. You will be able to pick and choose which Emote and assign it to whatever Slot suits you. These Slots can be accessed from your character's menu in game. You choose each Emote for each 2 SLOT's for that direction. ''TAP'' to activate SLOT 1 Emote ''DOUBLE TAP'' to activate SLOT 2 Emote (same)EXAMPLE ''TAP'' RIGHT on D-pad=(SLOT 1) for 'Dance' Emote ''DOUBLE TAP'' RIGHT on D-pad=(SLOT 2) for 'Fist Pump' Emote 4. EMOTES HAVING PURPOSE AND INTERACTIONS I agree with everyone that some Emotes should have a purpose. Like being able to create Visual Waypoint Markers, Tag Items and Enemies, Points of interest, Invite to Fireteam, Invite to Chat. There should also be a short Audio commands like Attack, Defend, Regroup, Flank etc. Would definitely make communicating easier and fun. I would also like to see people being able to use Emotes to interact with each other like High fiving, Fist Bumping, Chest Bumping, Hugging, Slapping, Pushing, Dancing etc. You should also be able to use Emotes to interact with your GHOST and other NPC's in game. I noticed that some of things in the E3's demo of Destiny that they left out and were not in the BETA. Like your character was able to lower there gun. A little detail like that but I wish it stayed in. So if we hope, wish, ask and with in good reason and easy to do that Bungie will listen to us and make it so. Cheers for reading my long rant about Emotes. feel free to ad anything new or something better than what I could think of. Bungie has made an absolutely epic game and I cant wait for September. see you star side.
