EXTREME PROFANITY ALERT
What im anxious and want to tell this story, also a bit panicky for no reason now...hence the amount of swearing...
So im a bit anxious right now. Some random woman calls saying she's from, and im not -blam!-ing lying,
A mother -blam!-ing potato factory. Im dead serious right now
This is what happens essentially what the convo was:
"Hi this is kelly calling from the potato factory regarding your order is this [redacted]?"
Yes this is [Redacted]
Who the -blam!- is this? Im in class what do you want
"Well we are calling from the potato factory in northern Ontario, concerning your order of 200 potatoes"(this is where I knew it was a prank call, but then again, what the -blam!- is she babbling about?)
Actually im in school, if this is a prank call then it's really stupid, I have to work and I don't have time for this so have a nice life (she interupts)
"Wait are you a teen like 14-15 cause the order was for a teen"
(So im like the -blam!- is this! She knows my name and age? Who the hell?)
Im not prepared to release that info to you may I ask who the -blam!- this is?
"It's kelly storm(all the weathermen want their name back) from the potato factory in northern Ontario that's all the info im going to release, you have a order for 200 potatoe to your address they've been here for two months" (stfu, i interupt but there's something about legal things)
And the only info im prepared to release is that my name is [Redacted] im working and whoever this is Id like you to delete my -blam!-ing number, I didint order shit. Have a nice life
"Bu-"*click*
So anyone else ever get a random call where the person knows your name? What the hell do I do? All my friends were in class too. No one could just prank call in the midst of it.
Im kind of worried now. What do I do! The bitch knew my name age and though she didint say, my address. That's a pretty big privacy breach. Like WTF woman?
The number was blocked. So it could always just be a prank call. But still, what the hell?

2 RepliesI've known of similar incidents. My old work place received a phone call from a person saying our ink cartridges were awaiting to be delivered but couldn't be sent off until they had been paid for. The lady who answered the phone knew nothing about it and explained we get our cartridges specifically from one place only, however the person on the other end of the phone stated, "Oh we have already discussed this with Anne (another woman who worked there) and Allan (the boss) and they said it was ok." This lady curious told the person on the phone to wait so she could confirm it with Allan. She walked in and asked the boss and as soon as she did the person on the phone hung up. A few weeks later this occurred again, however they spoke to Anne (who had not been told by Liz this happened) and they used the same line but explained it was all legit and had spoken to Liz and had confirmed it with Allan with the same result. What I do for a living now involves extracting information from people. In this case it was done to a business. When you call a business they usually answer with, "Good morning/afternoon *insert name of business* Liz/Anne/whomever talking how can I help you?" Or a similar line.you now have one persons name who is most likely the primary receptionist. However to be sure call again in 2 days and then do the same next week so that you have covered every day of the business week but not day after day to raise suspicion. From there you will find out if anyone else answers the phone/is the receptionist. If there is another person when ever you talk to someone you just say you called the other day and spoke to someone else, and drop the name. You could always ask to speak to the manager or proprietor of the business. If they give you the name then you now have the name of the boss/higher up which you can use and say, "I spoke to so and so about this" and see if the person on the phone simply gives in thinking the boss has already given approval, etc, etc. You can do similar stuff with credit cards. In Australia MasterCard is the card 90% of people have. Call someone, preferably knowing their name. State your are from MasterCard fraud/security group and that you have noticed some strange activity on the card and want to nature that no one has stolen the card number or using it without the persons permission. Then explain that before you can continue the person needs to confirm some details for security purposes. Ask their name, date of birth and address/mailing address. If they act strange or don't buy it simply hang up. But more often than not your target will give that info over to you, especially if they do any online shopping. And yeah... I have loads of ways of getting info from people and this is just the start. But I doubt you will even read this wall of text. To sum it up someone somewhere have your details to the potato people. Possibly you. Enjoy your potatos.

1 ReplyI had someone prank call me like that, turned out a classmate grabbed his friends phone, out of state number, and they decided to prank me.

11 RepliesMaybe it was one of your m8s

1 ReplyAh. That tricky Northern Ontario potato factory. They're always looking to off load them 'tato's. Lol. Sounds like a bogus prank from a friend man. All cool. Unless you get home to the potato trucks outside your place.

3 RepliesWell, you weren't very nice.

1 ReplyYou weren't very nice to the lady. I highly doubt that she started the prank, and you should have asked if the potatoes were payed for. Whatever you didn't want, a local soup kitchen would have.
Could've, would've, should've.
