So, the update just went live. Atheon can no longer be pushed off his platform. He'll also select people at random to be thrown across time. He's a real bastard, eh?
I talked a lot to the developers about your opinions on the matter. You don't want to be selected at random. You want to choose who gets to fetch the Relic under fire from those nasty Oracles. I spoke on your behalf. Your voice was heard. We discussed your concerns.
I even said "Why not just change Hard Mode and leave Easy Mode alone?"
I was told "The Raid is never supposed to be easy."
At that point, I recalled all the times I stood and delivered the line "...the most challenging encounter we've ever created." It was hard to disagree. As a veteran of Cairo Station on Legendary in Halo, I had to admit that I had been carried through the Raid like luggage assigned to my clan. I did my own carrying later, but carrying had been done.
This is an activity that was designed to be undertaken by a hardcore team that is ready and willing to adapt and improvise to changing battle conditions. Like the moment when the Templar shields random players, the Final Boss was supposed to be extremely dangerous. While we've been working on some of the other things for which you've been asking (i.e. better exotics, voice chat in matchmaking, more bounties), the designers who made the Raid have plugged the holes that you showed them.
If you got in on the ground floor of this thing, we thank you. If you understand the mechanics for how to beat Atheon, it's still a thing you can teach your friends. If you're all up to the challenge, the Raid is waiting for you.
Let's talk about it. Please sound off in this thread, and know that I'll be reading.

Kind of defeating the whole teamwork emphasis in the Vault of Glass with this patch. Pretty damn dissapointed honestly. There are many ways to play the game, as long as it's the way we're telling you to! Theres a difference between making a raid difficult And making a raid broken. First raid today... I was teleported randomly ALONE! 2nd teleport 2 people 3rd teleport 1 person You didn't make the raid challenging or difficult.. You just broke it... Its frustrating The sound still breaks Splash damage still leaks into the bubble You didn't FIX the raid... You broke it even more

Next time surprise the Devs and tell them that the game is called "Destiny" and not "Vault of Glass" ... does it shock you that some of us dont care about VoG?? , and the next H U G E update is the Iron banner? , Well I guess "Sunrise" is my update and "Advanced Warfare" is my Hotfix, See you next Year if your servers are still running and you have players left ;)

4 RepliesFor any players happy and unhappy with the fact that the raid has been patched I just have one thing to say. Keep it to yourself and just play the game. We all know that the people unhappy are mad because they won't have the same chance as they did before with getting better gear and/or (for you people that have the time to spare) achieve the trophy "flawless raider" As for the people who are happy , I mean common it's pretty obvious why, either: 1- you got the flawless raider trophy:achievement by doing multiple glitches or bugs with the final bosses and are glad that you got seized the opportunity and no one else will get the same as you 2- you did NOT get the trophy and are glad that no one else will have a better chance than you now. Either way both of you are part of the big reason why this game is becoming less and less enjoyable. I'll spare my I played beta/day-one-player and proud story and skip to the point. Destiny is fine how it is , and it is only going to get better just be patient and wait for it's time to come. In the mean time shut up play the game, b!tch about it with you fire team buddy's in a private chat , etc. but don't cheat the game of the greatness it has achieved or is on the verge of achieving. If you weren't playing the game repeating the same old missions on the same old maps what would you be doing? Answer: playing the same old missions on the same old maps on other games. - probably with a lot less stunning visual detail. Add me in psn ladies and gentleman maybe we can grind some missions or hit the crucible - FLAKO1122 - PS4

every patch is driving a wedge between you and the player base
Are you reading the responses here bungie. I called my shot, you called my bluff, and now you will soon be explaining to shareholders why DLC is less than 50% of your projected sales. When you rig the game against the players just "because" and micro manage what should have been a gaming experience that sets a impossible standard for your competition, you look like fools. R.I.P. Destiny, a game of what could have been, not one of becoming legend.

I wish to post before I read other opinions so my own experiences and thoughts are not changed or molded. I thoroughly enjoy the raid, chasing after the gear has become upsetting but at least I have tons of weapons, shards, and energy to show for it. I admit to nothing however, the vex mythoclast was lackluster before the update. Even when you have armor perks to enable more fusion ammo, I still run out of ammo and ammo synths left and right. I know nothing about balance so I cannot add my thoughts other then I am tired of running out of ammo for the gun. I much rather prefer the vision of confluence, which I think everybody ignores. I still get excited about raiding so I can obtain the boots, pulse rifle, or pistol from the raid; which I don't have. I think weapons are a strong pull into the raid that will keep 30's coming back. Raid mechanics are mechanics, I don't care if you put three of Atheon in at the end at once; we are still going to melt that oversized window... I hate him and I really hate teleports, but I love the idea of a boss I can hate. Bungie did their best job on the VOG and it shows, thank you. Fear and frustration is leading the complaining. Help them find players to play with, smart matchmaking? I actually started another account so I can run the raid 6 times a week. We will see how far I get there. One last note: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put raid tokens in for the dlc raids. This would make life a lot easier on people who want to play, gear up, and have a family life. My wife actually told me the other day she forgot I was home...

I completely understand the updates to the raid . But due to the fact there is no matchmaking now that it is harder people will be very selective helping others and will only want experienced players. So how can we help others get experience. I recommend a practice mode where players can go right into the portal and take a crack at the shield or stay outside and bring up the portals. Having a practice mode instead of going in and wiping would encourage players to help others and learn together. PRACTICE... Not a game but PRACTICE!!! After all this is hard and the only way to get better. This should only activate in orbit once you actually reach that checkpoint though!! What do you guys think??

1 ReplyI don't care about atheon fix BUT LET US CONNECT!!!!! You guys are such pieces of shit giving an untested update out.

Edited by Xeroro: 10/28/2014 8:10:27 PMWow. I'm sure someone else already said it, but I just have to express my shock. This post basically proves there's absolutely no point in giving feedback. For the past week and a half, feedback on something that had overwhelming agreement throughout the community was given, and the only people who could make it happen said "No." Flat out. Are you kidding me? Wow.

Taking the gimmick out was a smart move. I also think the random selection is wise, too. Now VoG requires more than six people who can breathe.

1 ReplyMy problem is not the cheesing of the boss that was just a way to get it done fast. My problem lies with the random teleporting of 3 members see I play with my same guys every week we don't have all day do sit and do this we don't have hours to fail over and over. We all work 50-70 hours a week and have families. This little hick-up of rando-teleing is gonna set us back hours a week and when we can only play a couple of hours a night, that's a problem. Now I realize that your raid design team is all about making it damn hard and that only themost dedicated and/or persons with free time can do this but what about the casual game the one who does not have the whole week to sit at home and play? What about us? I mean its gonna kill bringing in someone who is not as lvled or tested in the fight to a halt because as it stands fresh 26 have a very hard time doing enough dmg to take them through the portals.

5 RepliesDeej, have you suggested turning the paychecks into a RNG system yet? So that, it doesn't matter how hard you work, or how much effort you put into something, you're paycheck comes down to the luck of the draw? You might get the CEO's paycheck, or you might get the janitors. This is obviously the best way to reward people right? How willing would you be to return to your job each day, put in your 8 hours and put in your overtime, if you were fully aware of the fact that none of your work really mattered because the reward for doing your job is completely independent of the quality of your job? How about, you guys set it up so that when you sit down to log int to your work station, IT has implemented a RNG password system? So that, every time you enter a letter into the password box, the computer assigns the key you just pressed to a random character on your keyboard? You might spend hours, days, or weeks even, simply trying to get all of the characters you need to log in to your work station. This sounds like a good idea right? How about you implement both? Random log in passwords, random pay checks. This will prove that Bungie is the ultimate company right? Wrong. Still hoping some redneck visits Bungie with a loaded shotgun.

I'm fine with atheon being able to not fall now. Not so much with random teleporting, as distance teleporting was part of the strategy in it. You'd put experienced heavy hitters back to get times vengeance and leave the others to clean up supplicants up front.

Let's talk about it. Please sound off in this thread, and know that I'll be reading.
This line concerns me after another read of the topic. If the first round of feedback had no visible impact what good will soliciting more of the same do?

Edited by Maplesyrup007: 10/28/2014 7:38:46 PMThanks for the feedback Deej. More posts Like this would be much appreciated. I'm excited they fixed the issues, now beating atheon on Hard feels like an accomplishment again. They just need to fix pushing the templar off now...
-
Thank you for insulting our intelligence with fixing the teleporting "bug". Now we can run around with helping new people and I get "rewarded" with my 6th chatterwhite. I'm glad I got s couple raids in before this dumb "fix", not everyone has a core group to raid with every time. It was frustrating enough when I connected with people who had no clue what they were doing even when there were roles designated. There was strategy. What is your obsession with RNG? This would be fine for Hard but I didn't feel like "damn that was easy" even when I KNEW what I was doing. There was nothing easy, even when people knew their roles. Bravo on patching Atheon getting pushed off, but this random teleporting is just terrible and I have never complained about anything from this game. I will continue to play and adapt but this is the worse thing you have done with this game.

I STAND WITH YOU FELLOW GUARDIANS We can't let them do what they want. We should stand up and make a statement; we need to let them know that the game is here because of us! Let's show them by not playing for an hour! Let's shut our systems off for one hour on November 1, 2014 @ 9pm EST. Who is with me? ONE HOUR FOR DESTINY #onehourfordestiny

1 ReplyEdited by cabinny00: 10/28/2014 10:40:25 PMSo what happens when we as gamers find another way to streamline the challenge? When does it stop being a glitch or error and you accept that strategic planning is what occured? This is what worries me and the members of my clan, it feels as though everything we come up with is called a exploit. There has to be some variety to how we can choose to face any opponent in the game or what is the point? It is moronic to just sit there slugging it out with a bullet sponge when you can find a way to streamline the engagement, regardless if it is a freaking reaver or a raid boss. In Borderlands you can get a raid boss to be hit by a -blam!-ing train, that is not what everyone does but it is there. You need to stop funneling us to one way and let us be a little creative or you will ( WILL) lose more players.
And to those who are complaining about how people come about things, get over yourself it is a video game. Have finished it both ways, did not get any more one way or the other.
2 RepliesOn a serious note, strategy was removed from Atheon fight. It went from great team to great players. I have raid members that destroy harpies with a vengeance on the outside, but put them in front of an oracle and they can't take one down. Are they bad? No. They just have unique skills that are better used on the outside. (Talking about hard mode FYI) While I believe everyone should understand the mechanics just in case, I don't think people should be forced to fill roles they aren't comfortable with. Personally I suck at portal defense but give me the relic and those mobs are history. What I'm trying to say is, where's the strategy now? It's a free for all.
-
If the raid is for a teams who really want a challenge, then the raid is for the minority of players ultimately. When you make a challenge, a task, a difficult adventure, the rewards for the players are that they used skill, teamwork and strategy. When you make enemies that one shot players, that have mechanics that are frustrating. This is not creating a hard, difficult, challenging gameplay mechanics. This is just frustrating. I will not be raiding now. There was little point to begin with, being 30 was no big incentive, nor one or two exotics. It was fun to do the raid and see the content. That time has passed it appears. -1dkp bungie.
-
Not so full of jokes and sheepish laughter this week? You guys are killing this game. YOU, with your bare hands. Strangling the life out of it. I think back to all the times as a kid I wished the devs could get into my game and fix the VERY FEW bugs that were in them. I don't wish that any more. This is a disaster.
-
I'm glad it's harder now, people can still get to lvl 30 without beating Atheon so I don't see the problem there. Once you've done the raid a bit you get used to it, the only difference is people are going to have to learn the relic. once you've used the relic for 20 minutes you will be able to do Mars and Venus without a problem. Just grab it and the two who haven't help with the preatorian if needs be. It'll be a struggle for people who haven't used it at first but once they get the hang of it they'll be better at raiding and be able to play more key roles, as a lot of players like to hog it and in my first few tries I never got a chance to use it.
-
I've done the raid every week over and over easy and hard and get the stupid shader over and over now I can even get anything because bungie -blam!-ed up the servers

2 RepliesYou Killed Teamwork!!! You wanted people to be special and different. Not the same expendable 6 that can do any job. This is awful, I'm sad I couldn't beat this thing before the patch
