So, the update just went live. Atheon can no longer be pushed off his platform. He'll also select people at random to be thrown across time. He's a real bastard, eh?
I talked a lot to the developers about your opinions on the matter. You don't want to be selected at random. You want to choose who gets to fetch the Relic under fire from those nasty Oracles. I spoke on your behalf. Your voice was heard. We discussed your concerns.
I even said "Why not just change Hard Mode and leave Easy Mode alone?"
I was told "The Raid is never supposed to be easy."
At that point, I recalled all the times I stood and delivered the line "...the most challenging encounter we've ever created." It was hard to disagree. As a veteran of Cairo Station on Legendary in Halo, I had to admit that I had been carried through the Raid like luggage assigned to my clan. I did my own carrying later, but carrying had been done.
This is an activity that was designed to be undertaken by a hardcore team that is ready and willing to adapt and improvise to changing battle conditions. Like the moment when the Templar shields random players, the Final Boss was supposed to be extremely dangerous. While we've been working on some of the other things for which you've been asking (i.e. better exotics, voice chat in matchmaking, more bounties), the designers who made the Raid have plugged the holes that you showed them.
If you got in on the ground floor of this thing, we thank you. If you understand the mechanics for how to beat Atheon, it's still a thing you can teach your friends. If you're all up to the challenge, the Raid is waiting for you.
Let's talk about it. Please sound off in this thread, and know that I'll be reading.

Interesting Forum Post Title... No thoughts to share since our opinions don't matter.

The patch is certainly going to mess up the standard formula we run. Over the course of a couple of raids you have the instances where someone dies and someone switches to a role they ordinarily wouldn't play, but having it happen randomly will make life interesting. We run Atheon normally so the lack of pushing won't have an impact. Fortunately I got a hard raid mode run in right on reset and just before patch. The lag was ridiculous. But the RNG gods smiled for a change. I still think the Templar/conflux defend pre-Atheon is harder than Atheon himself.
-
I like it. Too much crying all the time
-
Thank you. Hopefully these fixes perform as intended.
-
I'd like to know the answer to one very simple question. If the design team really wanted to "fix" the raid so that it's as challenging as they initially wanted it to be, than why did they only fix the Aetheon exploits? I can STILL knock off the Templar, and cheese the Oracles during the second phase of the raid. Our entire team (minus one) can literally camp the cliff that start at during that entire encounter. It's SO EASY TO ACCOMPLISH, that it makes your quote "the most challenging encounter Bungies ever created" laughable.
-
Thank you for trying deej, I understand it's not you're fault that the dev's are listing to their gamers. They will learn eventually like all the other dev companies who ignored their players. It makes me sad because I like this game and it has potential and I love bungie, but if they won't listen to me.....I can't support a company like that.
-
My opinion is that the patch has broke the game! The alleged fixes to disconnect issues have made this game unplayable! Who tested this garbage?
-
Umm yah. So you "fix" this, yet there are so many things that are glaringly obvious ( I'm level 14, yet had a bounty to clear the heroic or nightfall ?!? ) That aren't touched? Whatever man.

Deej comment in this yo Don't be scared

4 RepliesI'm not sure how I feel about the random oracle spawning. I personally hate using the relic, but I'm good with slaying oracles. Some players who aren't 100% clear on what to do could get thrown in and might not know what to do. It seems to be subtracting strategy from it, so nobody has a special "job" that they can do that they are good at.
-
I, for one, am damn pumped. Although, I would say, if we're going through a more difficult raid now, why not just be rid of ascendant materials in the vault, and perhaps up the output of said materials from breaking down things we get in the vault. I'm always up for a challenge, but I'd like to get more than just mats if we're making things harder.
-
Should be reported for baiting... but who'd we tell XD
-
Definitely feels like both the community and you Deej were completely ignored on this one. Thats nice that there's time to screw with teleports. Meanwhile, I can't be sure that walking through a portal will even take me back to vault of glass. The cleanse shield doesn't always protect you when activated. A bunch of exotics are still waiting on needed buffs. Glitched loot chests all over moon and earth. There really needs to be a better priority list over there.

Feels like your making things harder to slow down progress. Like, you expected this amount of content to hold players over till you released the expansion. The problem is there really isn't much content at all other than the raid. To make it harder after it being out for months is just a way to extend the grind. Even the events you've added are recycled content intent on being grindy without actually adding anything to the game. It's a shame because I really enjoy the game, but I see most of the community leaving with the upcoming games. You guys really dropped the ball on here, destiny has potential but you've gutted that. I hope you can salvage it and make it the game it could be.
-
1 ReplyI may just start playing world of Warcraft again lmfao. It has more strategy then this bullshit game. Say goodbye to most your market bungie because we as a community can't trust that the next few raids will not be a random horror house that makes this game basically bullshit. It's ok tho cuz I'll just use my disc of destiny as a frisbee or something.
-
A bunch of us hate it
-
Our voices are not being heard. They are being ignored. Since 7 months before the game was released you have taken away from the game. Bungie has taken away the story lines, the content (selling the standard content as a DLC is crap) and taking away game strategies that are not bugs is the last straw. Take your ball and go home. Just give us all refunds and admit you didn't produce the game you promised. It is getting very embarrassing now. The more you take away from the little you actually gave us... the more Star Systems will slip through your fingers.

Edited by Cameron(ThreeFeetOfMagic): 10/28/2014 9:04:45 PMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvH6249WDcc&feature=youtu.be I apologize ahead of time for the shakey cam. I dont have a good camera to record with. My hours are at 733 hours. I play this game very often. I am blessed to have 3 months every year off of work. So most of my time , me and my fiance play our games together. I love this game, but more and more I feel myself becoming less and less entertained with it. The constant disappointment of it gets a little bit overwhelming. Each time I read the updates, I get a little more sad every time because none of it seems to be genuine progression. The only good thing I have seen is Atheon being patched. I have done the fight both ways, pushing him and fighting him. I loved to fight him because it gives a awesome feeling when you have everyone jump to the middle, a titan drops Weapons of light behind the shield bubble and the whole team is shoulder to shoulder, shooting at the enemy to win the fight. It's a epic feeling This randomizing part it spits in the face of people doing strategies. I agree with a fellow who has a massive post that hits EVERYTHING wrong with your updates and wording in every way. You insult the intelligence of your players by not straight up admitting your reasoning to do updates and fixes. You say "oh it was a bug of Atheon teleporting the 3 furthest" It's bull shit and you know it. You guys felt your boss was far to easy and wanted to throw a randomness that is not even needed. You want to make your prime boss harder? You add more mobs to deal with, you have goblins/hobgoblins come out, or you make Atheon have different attack patterns. Instead you make the fight just annoying, not hard. I myself to always have at least 2 weapons on me at all times with Oracle Disruptor. Sometimes I have Hezen + Epilogue on (works great in combo shots on Oracles) But not everyone does. I feel my faith in this game getting very thin now =/ They take away the ability to explore(granted we had almost none to begin with) I have managed to put up with the grind of collecting material, managed to put up seeing people get full raid gear in 1 run and be level 30 within 90 hours of game play(RNG is BS) But I have a very hard time dealing with the fact you guys simple do not know how to actually fix anything. You "fix" something and break 3 other things. i hope this game pulls through

2 RepliesSorry to say but he still can be pushed off

1 ReplyI cant get anything done because of these freaking monkey disconnects!!! Ive been disconnected three times in the past thirty minutes of attempting to solo the nightfall! Last time i got disconnected as the boss came down!
-
4 RepliesIf the raid isn't supposed to be easy I want better rewards now that these changes have been implemented. No more shards! More raid armor thank you...
-
First -blam!- you guys....second now the raid which at this point is stale as month old bread is even more not an option for something to do maybe if drop rates actually existed then yes it would

I think the dev team is hopelessly misguided Deej, they seem to have no idea what they're doing as far as I can tell. I think they should stop trying to padd out the content until December and focus on fixing the actual issues with it instead. I'm not going to shoot the messenger here Deej so I won't address you with the criticisms but ask you relay them to your colleagues. 1. There is not enough content by far. Padding it out with asinine tricks like random teleports is cheap. Please just admit to the lack of content and really buckle down for the dark below expansion. 2. Be honest about changes. The cheese strategies were removed because they were too efficient, hence why they went ignored for so long. I'm not buying it that these were, all of a sudden, 'major issues' that ruined the game. 3. Actual issues are the portal glitches, lack of a result screen after Atheon, gimped PvE weaponry due to PvP balancing efforts. And the whole getting kicked from the game frequently thing... 4. Please dev's look up the radiance system from lord of the rings online (if I recal the name correctly) they made your mistakes already and learned the lessons you can easily adopt. 5. Your steph-brother Blizzard has a roadmap already for fixing an abysmal loot system, use it PLEASE. 6. Rahool is still an asshole and we will never be friends, please don't have him pretend like he wants to help me, its condescending. 7. He's called RNGeezus not RNSatan, there is a difference. The RNG in Destiny is just...its evil...change some values or something. 8. We outnumber you at least 10, 000 to 1 guys. You will NEVER stamp out loot caves and cheese, just incentivise the way you want people to play instead of penalizing/removing what scares you. Game design 101, not that hard. 9. People are passionate about this game and about Bungie. Some of the degenerates on this forum are perfect marketting for condoms, i'll admit, but most really just want to be taken seriously and listened to. You can keep having Deej tell us you're listening till we're all blue in the face... 10...But you need to SHOW us you're listening guys. Please stop making me think of the seminal Deus Ex human Revolution quote "I never asked for this" with every 'hotfix' 11. A fix is supposed to fix things instead of breaking them, f,uck! Ok I digress, 11 was me beeing a bit childish but I hope this is the kind of honest, heartfelt (mostly spelling checked but my phone hates correct grammar, so the odd mistake is unavoidable I fear) feedback you wanted Deej (talking to you instead of the devs now). I have no quarrel with you, but send the guys in charge of development to rehab. The shit they are smoking is not doing anyone any favours. I kid because I care, I rage because I love ;D

Edited by F L I P S l D 3: 10/28/2014 8:58:53 PMHas your infamous "Dev Team" even played the raid? Have they beaten it on Normal and Hard mode? Do they play the game for hours each day? No?? Then why is their opinion trumping the voice of the majority of the community? I'm all for a challenge, but when you remove strategy by increasing randomness which then results churn - you will lose your support base. Business economics 101. When the Dev Team refuted you - you should have asked them what I asked you in the start of my reply. It's one thing to fix a "bug", it's another to add an element that leaves a bad taste in the mouth of your customers.

I realize this comment is probably just shouting into the void, but here goes: only tangentially related to the patch, but you are seriously misstepping with your PR. It lacks all candidness. Without the (sorry) pointless anecdotes, saying how much you get me, and the solemn intonations (like you're delivering some rousing speech) there is about 2 sentences of meaningful content in there. you should be speaking for Bungie. Saying "I said" and "I was told" like you're some sort of third party makes your entire post sound extremely ineffectual, compounding the first problem. negativity is bad, but this doesn't equate to more positivity = better. The constant tone of breathless enthusiasm makes everything ring fake, and makes these updates feel almost condescending. PR like this is outdated. The people actually working on the game should have direct contact with the players, talking candidly about whats in the works. They will sound like dudes trying to make a cool thing (which they probably are), and players will be far more willing to engage positively. thanks

I LOVE IT!! piss on all the crying ass kids on here that want easy mode and free rides!!
