So, the update just went live. Atheon can no longer be pushed off his platform. He'll also select people at random to be thrown across time. He's a real bastard, eh?
I talked a lot to the developers about your opinions on the matter. You don't want to be selected at random. You want to choose who gets to fetch the Relic under fire from those nasty Oracles. I spoke on your behalf. Your voice was heard. We discussed your concerns.
I even said "Why not just change Hard Mode and leave Easy Mode alone?"
I was told "The Raid is never supposed to be easy."
At that point, I recalled all the times I stood and delivered the line "...the most challenging encounter we've ever created." It was hard to disagree. As a veteran of Cairo Station on Legendary in Halo, I had to admit that I had been carried through the Raid like luggage assigned to my clan. I did my own carrying later, but carrying had been done.
This is an activity that was designed to be undertaken by a hardcore team that is ready and willing to adapt and improvise to changing battle conditions. Like the moment when the Templar shields random players, the Final Boss was supposed to be extremely dangerous. While we've been working on some of the other things for which you've been asking (i.e. better exotics, voice chat in matchmaking, more bounties), the designers who made the Raid have plugged the holes that you showed them.
If you got in on the ground floor of this thing, we thank you. If you understand the mechanics for how to beat Atheon, it's still a thing you can teach your friends. If you're all up to the challenge, the Raid is waiting for you.
Let's talk about it. Please sound off in this thread, and know that I'll be reading.

I have done the raid twice now before this update. First time getting to Atheon but giving up on beating him. Second time finally taking him down. During he Atheon encounter we had a go to guy that was really good with the relic. Him another player and myself would stand at the back and wait for the teleport. It was easy to just let the one guy use the relic and once we had the flow Atheon went down pretty easy. Almost too easy to be honest. I'm looking forward to the raid being more challenging. As someone who has little experience using the relic and no experience using it against Atheon, I like that you guys have given the little push I'll need to be forced into using it. It looks like a lot of fun. I'm also looking forward to defending sometimes as opposed to being teleported. Variety is the spice of life and I'm glad you guys are seasoning my raid experience.
-
Really think you guys screwed up with the teleport changes and although this change doesn't affect me it will break the game for many. Not everyones hardcore on here, I believe more people got to experience the raid because of the exploits and fair enough fixing the pushers but changing the entire mechanic of the fight is laughable after months of people learning to work as a team. Isnt team work playing to each others strengths and weaknesses? could say alot more but you know what? You just proved thats a waste of anyones time really.
-
Thank deej for no more push. Can't stand you kids try to defend this as a "mechanism"

Listening eh? It's good for someone at Bungie to finally admit that the Devs take no notice of the players concerns. So lets get rid of the spin and tell the truth. You have not, repeat NOT, made the raid harder. All you have, in fact, done here is throw out all the weeks that WE spent building raid teams and re-set our progress. You did not make it harder, you just changed the rules so that it takes us LONGER. All you've done is made it so that now, we have to train the Home Team players to do that Away mission, and the Away Team to do the Home mission: That is NOT making it harder. It's not enough that at the end of all this we STILL might not get that elusive piece of armor we need, or that weapon we want. It's not enough that we STILL have to grind to get shards/materials to level them up even if they DO drop. These delaying tactics being used by Bungie to slow the progress to level 30 to a crawl, are apparent to all but the most ardent fan boy now. You trying your usual spin drivel is not going to change that, so please stop talking to us like we are idiots. It's not 'more challenging' it's just different rules, it's not harder it's just changed. Now it's just going to take us longer.

I would completely support the changes being made ( as lvl 27 players cheesing atheon should not be walking around with a gun i have ran 16 times already and still have not gotten ) My issue with it is that A.) You are very quick to patch exploits, but are ignoring all the glitches that double run times leading people to exploit in the first place. B.) You are simultaneously Increasing the difficulty of the raid and decreasing value of rewards from the raid (As vex has gotten both a drop rate nerf and a effectiveness nerf) You need to increase loot somehow in the raid to better compensate for the extra hard work as the change in loot from normal mode to hard mode.

2 RepliesIt is rude and pathetic for game developers to force their consumers to adhere to an Aim-Assist function... 500 million dollars and Bungie can't figure out how to make a game that does not have a forced aim-assist, (I really don't care if there are 10 year olds who are still going to have level 5 sensitivity and aim-assist active) however if the real reason it was never included was so that these 10year-olds ego's aren't hurt then I am truly done. Tell me now, I will stop monitoring these forums and I will uninstall the downloaded digital content of this game from my PlayStation forever.

I stopped playing Destiny a week ago. Patch it, nerf it, buff it, I don't care anymore.

The Exploit glitch is a good fix. The random teleport can be dealt with but It kills defined team play. The one thing that is inexcusable is playing through the entire raid without getting anything usable. With great risk should come great reward. I've gotten semi lucky on the raid. Others in my friends list have gotten nothing and are asking "why bother?" You could have had something going. You vaguely hinted at it with the "Thorn Bounty". Then you squandered it on a cheap and archaic game development tactic.
-
Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm okay with this patch. Since people will be teleported randomly now, it just reinforces the communication aspect of the raid. Everyone will have to know what to do in each part and people will need to communicate instructions. The shove atheon bug was just a dirty exploit, so I'm definitely okay with that. I also like the tease at bigger bounty inventory.

I do agree pushing him off wasn't how it's supposed to be done. As far as the random teleporting, well, I might see a problem there. Not because of it being to hard, but because since I don't have a mic on my ps3, it is now going to be a pain to find a group willing to take a mic-less person. I know there are other ways to know where people got ported besides yelling it out over voice, but most people don't know that. For groups that don't know that looking at the minimap can tell you where people were ported, they wont be able to take more than two mic-less people in order to know which port to open. And that's a steep difference from previous groups I had done where only 2 people had mics and we still beat it the legit way.
-
Though I loved the pushing method, I have always wanted to beat Atheon on hard legit.
-
The raid is eazy on normal I don't see how mixing up the time stream will affect more experienced players.... It's just really going to make helping new guys make the run. All hard mode will need is everyone having disrupted on there wepons and all lvl 30s I don't like that I can't just cheese it and get vex gun BUT it will make it more of a thing to get it. I think they should change the look on the vex gun for after patch so people know they got it on hard and really earned it!
-
I think part of the issue was how long it took for you to actually fix it after discovering it wasn't working how you intended. Essentially everyone who did it before this patch (including the Atheon push) benefitted from the flaws, and everyone yet to finish the Raid has had it made harder. Considering how long you intend Destiny to last, and new Raid content due out soon, I think it should have been left alone with more focus put on getting the next Raid working exactly how you want it to.

Let me tell you a story about a company called Rockstar. They were a grand old company, loved by their community. One day they created a beautiful game-baby named GTAV. This game-baby was delightful. It had so many activities and was just a joy to partake in. It was giggly and cute, until Rockstar decided that it wasn't good enough. This was followed by multiple unnecessary patches. Gameplay and servers were corrupted in order to shape the child into what Rockstar wanted. This ended with the giggly adorable, playful game-baby turning into an apathetic teen constantly telling us... "You can't connect? This game-mode is broken? You don't enjoy this? Well thats unfortunate. Heres a new car." Please don't head in this direction.
-
Our voice was not heard or else you would have actualy fixed the issue and not gone through with the update anyway. Nice job bungie and deej, the game you wanted players to mold has now become a german concentration camp * i dont care if that is taking it too far its my opinion on how they are treating their customers*

7 RepliesJust a time table estimate. When is the first substantial patch. Like more than five good things. Not big small. Not trying to include nerfs or buffs. More like content. Some new armor or weapons. Not exotics i mean, work on those and do what you will i dont care for them. I mean more legendary. More armor to make my hunter unique. Not just pvp garbage. Ill stay lvl 29 forever as long as i like the way i look, ill guarantee that. Cool shaders and weapons that are different, not a reskined HC that looks similar to my lord high fixer but is black. Again im noy looking for you to say, 39 days 4 hours and 12 minutes from now. Just maybe before or after dlc? I had hoped trials of Osiris would be before. But again i dont want to hint i am a huge pvp fan im die hard pve. Something more in that area is what i would like. I dont know what you guys claim destiny to be MMO, MMOFPS, what have you, but im curious if you guys are thinking about holiday specific patches or something similar. But i digress, just curious when a big patch is coming. Or when there will be an addition to PVE.

1 ReplyDeej you can stick destiny in your ass, i'm done.

Honestly, it took you guys WAY too long to fix the Atheon Knock-Off so good job on shooting yourselves in the foot on that one. Now you take your revenge by making it harder, lol. What an immature knee-jerk haha we got you back kind of thing to do. Deej, thanks for sticking up for us, programmers & boss designers, way to really fail at your job of QA testing and drawing out boss AI issues, like AOE avoidance & pathing. To all the whiners, just have 2 people who will never grab the relic and 4 who can, that way one person will always know what to do. Also it is not that hard and one benefit is that everyone can stay on the center platform and dps Atheon longer, also using a titan bubble and being in it, or behind it will help, you need to make sure you can attack the Detains.
-
So what about the average player who will never get that experience of beating it. You also said it was about team work and strategy. This is going to cause a lot of stress amongst friends . People don't want frustration they want fun and by doing this I feel they will leave in droves to play something else. The normal mode worked and could be a trainer for those that wanted the full experience on hard mode. I just turned off the game cause after trying to start all I was getting was my team randomly booted and being left with 3 people trying to open the door. This all happened after your patch. You need to sort your servers out first not break something people were actually stopping around to play. I love your game bungie but I feel all these changes your making are killing it. Listen to the community for once please or what you'll have is a broken dream of what could be.

Stop asking people about the new patch and fix this damn monkey code!

If I fell, Atheon can fall too!

So how long before a new Atheon exploit is discovered? The fact that people discover these things are crazy. I enjoy getting over 10k damage on Atheon with the icebreaker during the times vengeance. So bring on the random teleports. If you have a good team, it won't be difficult.
-
Well, looks like I won't be beating the raid on hard. I don't have friends that play this game, they're all COD fanboys (lmao) with an exception of 1 or 2. So I'm always stuck with randoms that aren't nowhere near the skill lvl that they're suppose to be at when doing the raid on hard. A lot of times these randoms have trouble on normal mode, which is ridiculously easy.
-
Edited by GewehrMeister822: 10/28/2014 4:19:30 PMWhile I'm not against the random teleporting, it'll just require a bit more of a learning curve and everyone will have to carry themselves as well as the team, I have to ask, when will these "holes" stop being plugged? I don't mind improvements or tweaks on a game or mode that should be hard, but are we eventually all going to immediately be marked by the void, blind in 10 seconds, and have to throw the relic at Atheon just to do damage, all while fighting off invincible Minotaurs? Just concerned that every time a new strategy is found that makes for a way to beating the raid a bit easier by an experienced team, the game will just get patched and some aspect of that strategy will be lost. We already grind in almost every other aspect of this game, try not to make the raid the same way. If I wanted a clear cut, singular, increasingly annoying and constantly "plugged" every other week way to beat the final boss, there are many other games I could be playing that are far less annoying to defeat.

About the Suros. The Suros isn't overpowered but there is an exploit breaking the gun. This exploit needs to be fixed before there can be a real evaluation of its power.
