Who else is excited about non-raid lvl 30 gear?
I like to solo and I like PvP. I solo nightfall strikes like many, and I don't like having to find a group and to set aside hours of interrupted time for a raid. I do it when I am able, but otherwise I work on a second or third character. The thought of being able to get two pieces closer to thirty without a raid is great to me. I appreciate that some people prefer raids and groups to PvP, but while I was in that boat years ago, I no longer want to set the time aside to go raid a couple of times a week. I love that multiple paths are developing.
Edit: to clarify, I do raid. I just don't like having to plan my day around a video game. With missions and crucible, I can play for 30 minutes and quit if I have to, and I won't feel like jerk for leaving a group. I don't even think I'll quit trying to get all of the raid loot, but I like that there will be more than one way to get some gear soon.

2 RepliesIf you dont want to run raids whats the point of beeing lvl 30 anyway? People who love to run stuff solo are in pve with lvl 29 as good as a lvl 30 guy. I had never a problem to run a nightfall solo with lvl 29. Pvp wise it will only matter once iron banner is up, after that you can toy around again with lvl 5 chars. So i really dunno why lone wolf players HAVE to reach lvl 30, for the content they play it will change nothing.

I hope they add more things like this to get gear. I hope they don't add another single -blam!-ing raid where all the hardcore players leave and move on. Then the forums might have more than 2 useful threads.

I'm having no luck at the moment scoring gear from Raids. Another opportunity to score armour is nice.

I think it is great that PvP players get some love, specially since the IB is all about the lvl but it sounds to me like it won't be affordable. Getting to lvl 5 in one week won't be easy, and then you have to buy them who knows what's the price gonna be

3 RepliesAgreed, I love raiding but there should be multiple paths. In my honest opinion lvl 30 gear should unlock at faction rank 10-15, for crucible marks. But hey, maybe bungie has something else planned.

Yes very happy about this! It makes it more guaranteed too rather than random drops. I've done the vault a few times and got no raid armour at all... so this is a nice change! Just gonna go searching for that 1 raid armour piece next week and then hopefully fit an exotic and 2 iron banner bits to lvl up to 30! :)

I think the fact that you can't get to lvl 30 in a single iron banner is going to balance out how easy it will be to get lvl 30 gear in PvP versus the raid. You'll only be able to get 2 pieces of level 30 gear from IB per iron banner event, which likely means you'll only get 1-2 shots at 30 gear before the dark below exp. So you'll need to be very patient, or raid, in order to actually hit 30. What is really nice is that the IB gear will put a lot of people at 29, and open up hard raiding for a lot or unlucky RNG peeps.

3 RepliesHonestly it all just depends. If you can buy the gear by reaching a certain rep and using marks, then that's a slap in the face to everyone who did the raid (in my opinion). With the new iron banner medallion system, even someone who looses 50 games in a row, then gets carried one game for a win will get all that rep and be able to buy the gear. In the raid, you have to actually complete segments just for a chance to earn the gear. While I strongly believe there should be a way for PVP players to earn level 30, I don't think buying it from a shop with a high enough rep should be it. When you don't have to win in iron banner (or rather only have to win every once in a while) and can buy gear, you aren't really "earning it" unless you can consistently win (with the current system you can be total trash and still get the best armor in the game). In the raid, you have to complete a section to get a reward, and it might not even be armor or it could be armor that you already have.

I'm a pvp focused player so I'm over the moon. There needs to be endgame pvp content, not exclusively for people spamming the raid.

Very happy. I hate being excluded from every major event cause I prefer playing solo.This forced Co-op annoys the shit out of me. I've paid for the game. I've played enough to beat the Thorn bounty solo. But I can't do the big one cause then I have to find and commit to a group of people I don't even know. Deleting countless "friendes" that won't let me logg on before they start bugging me in the process. Also, in Europe there are more languages than there are countrys, Trying to cooperate with people you don't even understand doesn't work very well. But hey as long as Bungie get to feel like they bring people together right?. Ducking fascists.

Bump bump bump really like this idea im already 30 from raid gear and 2 other toons 1 raid armor away from 30 but this makes my day make a armor set as you see fit instead of having the same armor and same looks ik will be grinding pvp tot death to get my hands in a lvl 30 pvp set gear amen

I am happy they are, as from the moment I laid eyes on the Iron Banner gauntlets for the hunter I fell in love with them. This will allow me to have the look I want AND be able to stay at level 30. I no longer have to worry about putting on my 'good' gear just so I can do the higher level stuff. I just hope they have the guantlets available next time >_> I care not about the shirt, especially now that I got my wolf one from xur! Though.....I do quite dislike its stats. I have no use for strength as a bladedancer!!! T_T
