Abandon Exotic Bounties
Has anybody else abandoned an Exotic bounty due to having to grind through PvP in order to complete?
Recently got the bounty for Thorn and have completed everything up to the 'acquire 500 points from void kills in pvp'. Got nothing against the destiny pvp other than I suck at it and it really isn't for me. Getting very close to just binning the bounty off but thought I might check for help or other peoples experience.
Is Thorn worth the grind?
Can anyone make some suggestions about making it bareable? I'm playing as a hunter.

Almost. For invective I needed a 25 KD spread. I was just lazy and didn't want to, I forced myself to and it only took 2 matches.

2 RepliesGrab a void sniper and void heavy machine gun. Then play combined arms, and camp around the map edges and rush for heavy ammo. When you have the heavy, just stay around the indoors part. I was able to get it in 6 games this way, just over an hour. I'm not that great at crucible, and I found this was so much faster than camping with a shotty. Most everyone is better with a shotgun than I am.

Void special weapon, and don't die. Thorn is worth it if you have good aim and you have gauntlets that quicken reload speed. If not then wait for Bungie to eventually buff it

As of right now, it's only really good in pvp, but it is supposed to be buffed sometime soon, so you might as well try.

I have completed all three of mine pretty easily. 25 strikes took the longest out of all of them

The Thorn was my first exotic bounty and I felt it set the stage for how the exotic bounties should work. I'm with you on the '500 void-damage grind'. I didn't even have a void-damage secondary at the time, so I had that going for me. That being said, I paired up with another player who was on the final task as I was, and the exclamation when we completed it was worth it.

It's a game do the bounty or not. If you want it the easy way you'll have to get it through rng or xur.

1 ReplyI'm not sure any of the bounties are worth it, I have completed thorn, invective, bad juju, and working on pocket infinity. Not interested in the final 2 so won't even do them. So far all the weapons have been underwhelming to say the least and are currently collecting dust.

3 RepliesI am on the last mission where you have to kill xyor and i don't have any friends who play destiny to help me kill him. If there is anyone willing to help or who has played this strike and would like to play it again and help me out please add me and join my fireteam and lets do this.

3 RepliesI've completed all the exotic bounties and out of all of the exotic weapons I got from them, I use only one and that's invective. Thorn's clip is to small and its reload is to slow. Bad juju's clip size is ridiculously small for a pulse rifle. Pocket infinity was boss, but then they patched it, and Super Good Advice is just god-awfully useless! But I'm only holding on to thorn and juju because they say they're getting a buff, and I still have pocket infinity in my inventory to remind me of its glory days, and I'm not quite sure why I still have Super Good Advice in my inventory.. as of now, it doesn't seem like most of the exotic bounties are worth it. But that's just me.

I don't mind the exotic bounties being more taxing than regular bounties but the thorn is not just rewards for completing the PVP and phogath part it's pants

Thorn is getting buffed so if u like hand cannons I'd get it and ur so close

Use the bladedancer subclass,go invisible with a void damage shotgun and play rumble,I did it in about 8 matches even if I'm a Gunslinger and I hadn't experience with shotguns at that time,it's much easier than how it seems,just sit,wait till you go invisible,kill someone and go invisible again,if you're interested,this is the skill tree I used : Arcbolt grenade,Better control,Vanish,Backstab,Path unknown,Shadowjack,Way of the fearless,Stalker BTW since you don't like PvP,I wouldn't do this bounty if I were you,Thorn is a weak PvE weapon due to its small magazine/slow reload speed

I've done all of them and am still getting them, so I just dismantle them. Got rid of 2 this week.

Thorn is absolute shit. Doing the bounty is a massive waste of time.

I abandoned Thorn's bounty. It was probably one of the most rage inducing moments in my recent gaming life. Now i'm grinding through the one for Bad Juju... 25 strikes... *sigh*

Keep it! Rumor is hunter will be getting a void subclass sometime. Meanwhile if you want to try it sniper and machine gun I got it in about 6 games. But if your really bad at crucible get a lobby together and go do some FFA and get your free gun.

Since then I've abandoned about a half dozen exotic bounties straight away as soon as I got them from the vendor. I got suros from a raid chest and icebreaker from xur, so unless they start offering different weapons in the bounties, I'm set.

I abandon exotic bounties because: 1) I already have thorn, invective, and bad juju. 2) I don't need to do the bounties again. 3) I don't even use those guns.

7 RepliesThorn needs a buff to ammo capacity, however, it's not so bad after the DoT effect is unlocked. The devil you know is my preference.

Honestly, it's not that difficult. I'm not that great at PVP, but I still finished that portion of the bounty in less than a day. The easiest thing to do is Rumble, and use a Void Shotgun or Fusion Rifle depending on the map.
