Abandon Exotic Bounties
Has anybody else abandoned an Exotic bounty due to having to grind through PvP in order to complete?
Recently got the bounty for Thorn and have completed everything up to the 'acquire 500 points from void kills in pvp'. Got nothing against the destiny pvp other than I suck at it and it really isn't for me. Getting very close to just binning the bounty off but thought I might check for help or other peoples experience.
Is Thorn worth the grind?
Can anyone make some suggestions about making it bareable? I'm playing as a hunter.

I am at the 500 void points also, I suck at PVP but I will not quit, I am taking it as a personal challenge and I will complete it. I have the bad juju bounty and invective bounty also, both at the PVP stage, I will start all 3 soon and I will prevail! I will get better and I will never quit until the job is done. Good luck :)

I abandoned the Invective early this morning. Then I get it again, while turning in bounties. Abandoned it again. I don't like the PvP like you and the gun doesn't interest me enough to play it. If all exotic boy ties require PvP, I think I'm done with them. All I need is Gjallahorn and there's no bounty for that. Also Thorn isn't that good. I shouldn't have finished the bounty. Pocket infinity isn't good either. And Bad juju is okay, but I prefer Hand Cannons, Snipers and Scout Rifles

2 RepliesI abandoned the pvp bit of the Thorn bounty due to playing whilst tired and doing badly (some shameful nerd-rage may have occurred). Was lucky enough to get it again, sucked it up and found the pvp portion to be no hassle. Faster than Bad Juju for sure. Just stay calm and it basically falls into your lap.

Edited by Burning Ace16: 10/26/2014 6:18:57 AMHonestly ive done the thorn bounty entirely and have the weapon and the crucible part isn't as bad as you might think. If your a titan then use defender with magnetic grenades cause that's void, your melee is void and it only goes off on the kill hit, and use a void fusion rifle or shotgun. If your not a titan go with the last two suggestion with the rifle or shotty. Itll take longer with just the weapons but if you just put in the time youll get there.

I never abandon. I'm not much for pvp but they are doable. Work, yes but there's a sense of accomplishment.

Edited by Flufuzz: 10/26/2014 4:03:52 PMThe PvP part isn't overly stressful and only took me a little over an hour or so to obtain. I was a voidwalker lock however so that helped. Space magic triple kills with my super were very handy. Best advice I can give is to use a Void Fusion rifle and Rocket launcher. It's easier to get multi kills with a rocket so you get more points quickly, same applies to the Fusion rifle if at first it's not easy to get used to using in PvP due to the reactions of other players. The more annoying part is the Xyor killing which took me and 2 helpers about an hour to manage. As for Thorn, it certainly looks kick ass but without the perks unlocked I can't really add much input. My friend is a hand gun aficionado. He's got thorn but rolls with lord high fixer all the time. I'm guessing it's not that great.

I only abandon the exotic bounties that I already have completed once before. Since I can trade weapons between characters, I see no use to complete them again except to challenge myself.

I abandon them all the time. I'm not angry about it. I just don't like doing pvp so I don't do them. I have other exotics from the raid and xur. It's good that the players with certain skills have access to these weapons to set them apart.

Was going to work on this bounty but the last word dropped for me on nightfall and I was like meh, not worth the frustration anymore.

I got Bad Juju, but the pvp part wasn't so bad for that. I do try to avoid the ones that have pvp components though as it is complete BS that you have to play pvp to get a pve gun.

Doing it with a hunter is nearly unbearable. I did it with my titan and warlock and it was much easier. I also was lucky to have Atheon's Epilogue in PvP. It's still a pain.

I abandoned a 2nd Invective because i have all bounty exotics. From now on i abandon them all, so fun..,

Edited by xblbw: 10/26/2014 2:32:54 AMSuggestions for getting the PvP done. Get a void shotgun and stay inside. Get a void heavy, and make a concerted effort to get the ammo. Some people swear by the thorn, at least for PvP. I've had a few hiding'sa from thorn users in PvP myself. Edit: it would be nice if you could store exotic bounties in your vault, so you don't feel compelled to complete immediately or abandon.

Got to 70/500 on that quest. Ended up tossing it. I don't really like hand cannons anyway. It did upset me though, I've got pocket infinity and super good advice. I don't see why I had to pvp for the others.

The bounty isn't hard at all. It gives five points for every void kill, and takes two away for every death. I'm [i]utter trash[/i] in Destiny's PvP, and I got it done in about an hour and a half, consistently getting a negative K/D all the way. If you have it, Atheon's Epilogue (void auto rifle) really helps, but just running around with a void shotgun and heavy ought to get the job done.

Thorn is a 3-hit kill in PvP (1 headshot 2 body shots) with the poison effect. I like it

Nope, they are easy and you don't NEED any of them. I abandoned three exotic bounties for being the same ones.

Almost. For invective I needed a 25 KD spread. I was just lazy and didn't want to, I forced myself to and it only took 2 matches.
