Abandon Exotic Bounties

Has anybody else abandoned an Exotic bounty due to having to grind through PvP in order to complete? Recently got the bounty for Thorn and have completed everything up to the 'acquire 500 points from void kills in pvp'. Got nothing against the destiny pvp other than I suck at it and it really isn't for me. Getting very close to just binning the bounty off but thought I might check for help or other peoples experience. Is Thorn worth the grind? Can anyone make some suggestions about making it bareable? I'm playing as a hunter.

  • I got that bounty when I was playing with a hunter too. It was a bit harder because they lack a void subclass. It took a while but I got it by using a void shotgun and void heavy machine gun.

  • I was about going to abandon this, but then I got the Epilouge. And one of my friends has it too and mentioned it with this bounty and it reminded me that yea, its void. Took me 10 games in total, roughly getting 50 points per game. But I just don't enjoy PvP. I play a game, and I get a +k/d, i come in the top 3 consistently. But I never finish a game happy. I don't know why really, I've enjoyed all other games that I do good at. Just for some reasons PvP irritates me.

  • Don't abandon it. I finished the Thorn bounty and love it. I completed the bounty as a hunter by equipping a void shotty and machine gun....make sure you get the heavy ammo and be smart with how you use it. It is a tough haul if you don't usually post a positive k/d but the +5, -2 scoring means you can still complete this portion while sucking the big one in the crucible.

    • 500 void points? That's literally 5 kills with a void shotgun

      • Just did abandon pvp bounty for invective., the second exotic bounty i have abandon after thorn pvp bounty. I find it... hmmm... hard. I don't like the part where your death counts and affects your goal. Not designed for poor pvp players like me.

      • I've done 4 out of 6 exotic bounties they're hard yes but they can prove to be worth it and pvp is something that takes time to get used to and set up your playstyle for bur you will get it

      • Void primary and shotgun is really helpful. Try being a prick and use noob tactics, not joking. I used the shotgun most of the time stayed in corners and tight spaces to get it done. IMO Thorn is really good for PvP once you get the lingering damage.

      • If you can get Aetheon's Epilogue from the Raid, you'll be set for that bounty.

      • I was in your shoes just hours ago. Just give it a try. Im also a hunter. I used void primary and secondary. My strat. was to keep out of the way of conflict. Play Clash. Stay behind your team and pick off enemies as yall push forward. If you end up alone and notice enemies moving in on your radar, just run away to your team. Watching the radar plays a big factor. Dont rush into ANYTHING. Just hang back and lend support fire. Long range weapons only. Keep your distance and itll keep you alive.

If you're one PS3 I'll help you. Psn- shinigamiNoNishi Currently doing the thorn bounty. The best way to do it is with a void primary (good luck finding one) but I here a void shotgun is a great way to do it too. I don't have either so I'm using a void sniper. If you didn't like pvp you should have picked another one.

        • For me add a hunter it went a lot easier than I expected it to. I just grabbed my void epitaph and started dropping people. It took about six games in the end to finish it off. I figure it's worth it to finish the bounty to at least collect the fun if nothing else.

        • I've done every Exotic Bounty, and am currently doing another Invective and Super good Advice bounty. My opinions on each weapon. Thorn Bounty: If you have a fair number of void weapons and powers, this challenge can be a bit easier than it sounds. Weapon: It's a decent enough pistol, and was my go to gun during the Queen stuff for the pistol headshot bounty. The DoT is nice on smaller enemies, but doesn't do much against bosses, but I guess that's to be expected. Invective Bounty: Not as bad as it might sound. The 25 K/D is over several games, not one game. And assists count as a +1, so 5 kills, 2 assists and 3 deaths is a +4 for the bounty. As long as you can get enough assists and kills, it's not too bad. Weapon: I have yet to get the ammo regen upgrade, but I feel it is a very adequate shotgun, the only drawback I've had so far is the reload speed being ridiculously slow. Bad Juju Bounty: Probably the easiest of the three PVP Exotic bounties, as there is no risk of losing progress, it just takes time. 10000 points at either 25 or 75 points for each kill and assist. Weapon: I have yet to actually really use it, but most people say it's not all that good. For both the Thorn and the Invective, if you generally go positive in games, then they are doable, just time consuming for some.

        • Honestly, after getting the invective, there are no other decent exotic bounties to do. I have bad ju ju, and the bounty for the fusion rifle and I couldn't care less about finishing them. I turn down all exotic bounties that get offered to me, I'm geared right up anyways and what they offer me is not better than what I already have.

        • I abandon the ones I have no desire to complete/reward in which I won't ever use it. Completed pocket infinity and I doubt I'll ever use. Lol.

        • I abandoned the same one because I got another exotic bounty lmao. Besides, I'm more interested in leveling up my gear and picking up the super black shader from dead orbit, so I usually do the bounties for rep to get free legendary stuff to dismantle... ... Except for those 2 times... 2 -blam!-ing times I got a dead orbit cloak. That gave me gas. :/

          • Not for the pvp, but I have abandoned one after getting the same set of bounties for the 4th time in a row and had already completed each of them.

          • PvP bounties are easy, did the shotgun one in one and half games simple if you know how 2 play the game. And yes I'm sure someone has done it in one game congrats.

          • I am at the 500 void points also, I suck at PVP but I will not quit, I am taking it as a personal challenge and I will complete it. I have the bad juju bounty and invective bounty also, both at the PVP stage, I will start all 3 soon and I will prevail! I will get better and I will never quit until the job is done. Good luck :)
