Abandon Exotic Bounties
Has anybody else abandoned an Exotic bounty due to having to grind through PvP in order to complete?
Recently got the bounty for Thorn and have completed everything up to the 'acquire 500 points from void kills in pvp'. Got nothing against the destiny pvp other than I suck at it and it really isn't for me. Getting very close to just binning the bounty off but thought I might check for help or other peoples experience.
Is Thorn worth the grind?
Can anyone make some suggestions about making it bareable? I'm playing as a hunter.

I got thorn bounty twice the first time i abandoned it the second time i did it and it wasnt that bad with a shotgun

I'll never do thorn unless I obtain a void damage primary. It changes the way I play and makes me curse those who kill me deducting the points. I'd rather just have a fun experience playing crucible then just constantly having to worry if I use a secondary or heavy with void. It even made me hate killing people using my primary. Plus Hunters don't have any void abilities like Warlocks and Titans do. I just hate that part of the bounty. I don't suggest they nerf the bounty though. That would be absolutely redundant.

3 RepliesI'm constantly abandoning these bounties its getting annoying. Not because they are hard, but because I've done them before. I got thorn, juju, advice, invective, and pocket infinity. Idk if there are any others but I always get offered (once every other day) either thorn, juju, or invective bounties. After you do it once, what's the point of wasting your time doing it again? No rep, xp, glimmer, nothing. Just an exact copy of a gun you already have. Pointless. Add more exotic bounties or add other incentives to grind the same ones 20 times.

It takes some getting used to the crucible stuff and I had to slow down the way I play to do anything especially with having to use void only and me being a hunter not a warlock with void grenades and specials. I like my thorn once I got it upgraded to devour especially. I do not like the slow reload speeds with it though, especially if you don't have any armor that has a hand cannon reload perk.

I say it's worth it. But I play a good amount of pvp. For PVE you might not like it as much unless you play a gunslinger.

I abandoned the Bad Juju bounty on my second character but that is the only one I have. I like Thorn but am hoping for a buff to it for either magazine size or reload speed which is just awful. The crucible aspect of the bounty was a bit of a pain but I just played control and played defensively and it went rather quickly.

in my opinion, thorn is not worth the grind! I have completed thorn's and Invictive's but that it no more PVP related bounties for me nor exotic bounties that require PVP play. oh and the "Last Word" IS worth the grind!

I'm playing as a hunter.[/quote] Ive abandoned Thorn 5 times now. I've only got the same set of exotics and refuse to do Thorn without Epilogue. My favorite shotty is fire and Machine Gun i think isnt Void. I'm not about to give them up for a gun I won't use, lol.

lol nah but I just toss Exotic Bounties after I got the Invective until I just recently started the Pocket Infinity bounty today though So far I have done Thorn, Bad Juju, and Invective

I got the bounty for the invective first which with 12.5k glimmer was easy. Then in a two day span I got the thorn and bad juju which luckily I finished both at the same time using only void machine guns and fusion rifles and going positive. Took about 8 games for me to finish both of them so it wasn't horrible plus for some reason I don't think its entirely void kills, I think its hits with void weapons. I tried using a rocket launcher at first and kept coming out with +6 at the end of a game which would have taken forever but after I used a machine gun the multi hits seemed to rack it up much faster along with multi hits from a fusion rifle. When it comes to doing them again for another.... then no... no... I have had the one for Bad juju/Thorn/Invective 10 times, got all three from the first three and dumped all the rest. I have only gotten the Pocket infinity/the other two set once... would really like that set again.

I just finished this bounty. i actually struggled with the strike mission part myself. But yeah, that mission is rough but you really only need to rock a consistant .40 ratio or better to get it (Right? 5 points per kill -2 per death?) I used a void comedian shot gun to get it. Id try shot gun or fusion rifle if you have either.

I've abandoned 6 of a total 9 exotic bounties. Reason is, the first 3 I've done were Bad Juju, Thorn and Invective. The next 6 were all repeats, kind of ridiculous at this point

I currently have the thorn and invective bounties for the second time, and I'm only doing them for "free" *ahem invective ahem* ascendent energy. They aren't worth having 2 of, so I'd say get one then move on.

I got that bounty when I was playing with a hunter too. It was a bit harder because they lack a void subclass. It took a while but I got it by using a void shotgun and void heavy machine gun.
