Can i still gain vanguard marks doing strikes etc.. while wearing faction gear

I wanted to know if i am able to still gain vanguard marks doing strikes and daily and weekly strikes while wearing faction gear? i understand that i will not be able to gain vanguard reps.

No. Also all of your gear will spontaneously combust during strikes.
