I hate farming planet materials
Legendary gear - 80 materials
Exotic gear - 64 materials
It probably takes an hour to farm 70-100 materials, big whoop right?
But did I tell you it's going to be the most mind numbingly boring thing you've ever done?
Edit: Alternatives,
buy with glimmer or marks
buy with coins or motes
earn via missions; amount scales by difficulty
earn via crucible
Material bounties
Trade weapon parts or class materials for
Earn during patrols and public events
Edit2-update: You know it's boring when your ascendant materials out number your planet materials

I even have more strange coins than I do planet materials...

Will take you 21.76 hours to farm 1,632 materials if you're gathering 75 per hour on average.
To hit level 29 it will take 304 materials if you have one exotic piece.
To hit level 30 you will most likely replace those pieces with raid equipment. That's another 240
(304+240)3 = 1,632
1,632/75 = 21.76
21.76 very boring hours
This is not taking weapons into consideration.

Never seen an issue with it. Hop on my time breaker drive around pick up materials kill stuff. Public events. Bounties. Patrol missions. Doesn't bother me.

Also your ideas are good as well, grinding is only relaxing when you've done everything else, looking for random people, don't have time to do bigger matters, exploring, or with friends. If you are their to get in & get out it is not fun.

2 RepliesI'm a fan of farming. My only problem with it is that the planetary areas arent as big as I initially thought they'd be so it's a lot of seeing the same places.

1 ReplyCouldn't disagree more. The spirit bloom route in particular is my favorite. I like farming, I find it fun and relaxing. Sorta just turn off your brain and enjoy.

I'm ok with having the option to farm or buy. I don't mind farming I like to farm while doing the patrol missions for rep points and bounties and daily events. Sure after level three you can buy everything available but I'm willing to bet in the future new tiers will be added so the higher ranks will eventually be needed.

So far I have: 31 Spinmetal 4 Helium Filaments 57 Spirit Bloom 13 Ascendant Shards 6 Ascendant Energy I can only do the Raid twice this week still. Once on normal with my Titan and Warlock. So yes, I wish there was a way to actually buy materials. Even Ascendants for the price of Strange Coins

For the record, my favorite runs: [b]Spinmetal[/b] Circling the divide then the rocketyard continuously. [b]Spiritbloom[/b] Ember caves loop [b]helium[/b] Spawn area and the bridge above. Literally insansely fast farming. Probably then normal runs for most.

Dude I don't know why you complain. Bungie never intended the game to be fun and continues to discourage creativity. Next Hotfix: Double required materials and reduce their spawn rate by 50% ^^

I despise doing it on my own but actually quite enjoy it with a coupe of mates. Split up over a small area and shout each other over to chests etc. If you're lucky you get a good few public events whilst you're at it. Try and mix in patrol mission as well.

I never minded farming. You can find some good shit doing that (found an ascendant shard in a random treasure chest once) and the public events help break things up too. Plus you can always hope you find that RNG gift chest that has 200 glimmer, an engram, and 12 materials.

Mars 65+ Relic iron with 15 minutes. earth 65+ spinmetal within 20 minutes. (Still need to find myself a better route with this one.) Moon 125 Helium filaments within 25 minutes. and while everyone else is using the places everyone shows on youtube and shit.Make your own -blam!-ing routes. like I did. I explored most of the maps. looking for best and fastest areas. just like i did with mining on WoW, UO. etc etc. You damn entiltement kids ruin good games.

Learn the chest runs for each planet abd you will get loads easy in under a hour

Get together with a friend and farm/run patrol missions together. Time flies when ur chatting :)
