PS4 exclusive Monte Carlo affected by auto rifle nerf?

monte Carlo is too weak to be useful in PvP.

monte Carlo is great to use in PvP.

Monte Carlo is fine, just the way it is.

So, I got the PS4 exclusive auto rifle, Monte Carlo from Vault of Glass some time ago, but I didn't try using it in PvP/Crucible until just recently. What I discovered is that even if I aim well with it, it barely manages to compete against rare and legendary auto rifles. In fact, in every 1 on 1 situation, it felt as if I was at a disadvantage and I had to outmanoeuvre and aim better than my opponent, in order to beat him/her. It got frustrating after a while, so I swapped it out for the Suros Regime. What a world of difference it was! Using the Suros Regime, I was able to consistently out-damage the majority of my opponents from both mid and long-range distances, whereas with Monte Carlo I usually lost mid-range duels against rare and legendary quality auto rifles, unless I really focused on headshotting them. Monte Carlo is hopeless at long-distance shooting, but that's no surprise considering it's high rate of fire. One would expect it to actually benefit from the high rate of fire in close to mid- distance battles, though. I figured maybe I was doing something wrong; maybe I didn't perform well due to lag, because I hadn't upgraded the last 3 damage slots on it, or some other reason. So, I looked it up on Youtube. I was relieved to find that pretty much every youtuber who has made a video on Monte Carlo mentions how weak it is in Crucible. I didn't use the weapon in Crucible prior to the auto rifle nerf patch, so I'm asking you guys - has it always been such an inferior weapon in PvP, or was it caused by the nerf? I don't expect Bungie to look into this, but it's clear to me that this weapon needs a little boost in the Crucible, because right now it's hardly competitive in PvP. What do you guys think?

  • Monte carlo was good for pvp before. Good stability for mid range fights. Now it's only good for up close fights, which sucks 'cause there's too many people who use shotties and fusion rifles. It's been completely underpowered in all ways. Pretty much worthless...

    • You should have an extra option in the poll, the "I don't care because I play on Xbox" option; lol

        • I've never used the Monte Carlo but I can see how the patch would have messed it up being It already has short range. A simple fix would be to buff the damage on head and body shots just a little bit to make it worth while.

        • Before the nerf, it was actually decent, Doing 24-25 headshots and 19-20 to the body. It was the goto rifle. Now it does 21-22 to the head and 12-15 to the body. Without an increase in firerate and a decrease in stability, it is absolutely worthless in PVP now, as it takes an extra 5-6 shots to down someone now.

I'm surprised at how many people think it's great in PvP, or fine just the way it is - yet, no one seems to use it. I suspect some of the voters just really don't want it to get a boost. And that's fine by me, I'll just stash it like everyone else :P

          • That's because the Suros is still the best pvp weapon in the game and its overall kill power seems completely unnerfed.
