Hey guys got another question for the community. It's sort of a vague one but which Heavy Weapon do you guys like to have strapped on your back ready for those high level bosses? Your Machine Gun or your Rocket Launcher? Assuming that both are legendary/exotic and the same level. Both of mine are legendary /300 Attack. All opinions welcome!

Ever since I got the gjallahorn or whatever I'm a fan of rocket launchers.
-
Depends on the situation, but I use to use HMGs almost exclusively. Now, I'm starting to use the RL more. Still, it all depends on the situation, what I am doing, or plan on doing.

I use LMG's most of the time. I use rockets for public events like defend the warsat or If I'm helping the relic carrier on Aetheon.

I always run with LMGs. For the small units, I can tapfire headshots all day, while the Bosses can't handle my sustained fire to their enlarged domepieces. I feel bad saying I've never used a rocket launcher in the full version of Destiny, but I wasn't too impressed with them in the Beta, so I never went back.

I pretty much run lmgs. If there are two colors of shields to deal with in a mission, fusion gets one and lmg the other. I stick to ones with high stability, so on bosses I am mostly getting precision hits. Not always as good damage, but more versatile. If the adds on a boss give some heavy ammo drops I try to take cover and switch to rockets for that burst damage though. Then in PVP you can get 6+ kills with one heavy ammo drop with a lmg. Hard to do that with a rocket unless you find a couple clusters. Again high stability lmg is key to get headshots for fast kills.

i carry both, but rarely use either.

1 ReplyMachine gun for dealing with tough mooks (like Praetorians) and rocket launchers for dealing with bosses. Just depends on which one you're more concerned with.

I just always use a Rocket Launcher. Sure a Machine Gun is probably better for single targets but Machine Guns have such a wide variance in reliability. For instance I have a The Culling Machine gun that has high stability, low fire rate...it does good damage but it has a piddling 35 round magazine. I mean my Auto Rifle holds more ammo than that. Then I had a Prestige IV machine gun with very low stability, high rate of fire. It did okay damage, but it was hard to control and its 80 round magazine size was big, but with its fire rate it still seemed like not enough.

Machine Guns are good for sustained damage. Rockets are Burst. Machine Guns are good for when you're not taking fire to keep sustained pressure on a boss over a long period of time. Rockets are good for if the boss focuses on you to allow you to burst damage and stay alive.

I personally love lmgs but half of my clan uses rockets so. Everyone wins right. Btw as for the why for lmgs, I love suppressing fire I love large amounts of damage and no splash damage so there is no accidental killing of ones self. (Not a usual problem but just putting it out there.)

I use a machine gun on my Hunter and a rocket launcher on my Titan(s) they're both useful in certain situations. I like the machine gun for taking down shields, the advantage being that you only have to use a few rounds then switch back to your primary and finish it off. A rocket is great but I feel it's a waste of a rocket to use it in that situation. Rockets are great for boss fights, machine guns are decent if they're long range but you have to stand there and shoot which causes you to be exposed to heavy fire but with a rocket you can dive in and out of cover shooting off rockets which keeps you alive longer.

1 ReplyPersinally I gravitate towards lmgs for pvp. I can go on insane tears with just one heavy ammo drop using either my corrosive measure or the iron banner. However dor like the raid...depending on the rocket I'd say rockets are more useful becuase of the amount one rocket can do as well as for the minatours the knockup effect. So pvp machine guns. Pve rockets.

1 ReplyIt comes down to range. Rocket for long machine for short. You need both.
