Are you also starting to hit a wall?

Been playing since the Beta and now I begin seriously to struggle with the missing content of the game. I have 2 high level Chars and did the VoG, Strikes and all Missions of this game countless times. Now I'm struggling with the boredom of doing the exact same stuff over and over again. I'm wondering how do you guys feel about it and how do you cope with it? ---- EDIT: Wow that many answers to my post… I really struck a nerve. Yes you are right I didn’t beat the VoG on hard yet. But why should I? The main reason for doing it was removed (since vex was rendered useless. Good job @Bungie). PvP: I won’t go into an argument about it. There are enough threads about why the PvP isn’t great. Including one of my own about balancing issues and separating the two worlds of PvP and PvE. The PvP I do only because I’m forced to by an exotic bounty. I abandoned another because it was too tedious. Although I’m not even sure I’ll go through with it because the reward will be the “awesome” bad juju which is still bad juju at the moment. So yeah its only daily, nighfall, weekly and public events at the moment. Ok one more VoG because I promised a friend. But the raid ain’t that great to repeat it multiple times and it takes too long to complete. And also the trouble of having 6 people ready... No. It really is no fun. Especially without matchmaking. And with the devs patching out any creative attempt of the players. (Not even talking about the pushing issue). As many here I fear the DLCs will be too thin. I fear because I also see the potential of this game which is currently crushed only by bad design choices. The queens missions were a slap in the face by the way. No one was fooled here. Did I give up? Not yet. I’m listening to creative ideas from the players here. Perhaps Bungie is also listening.

  • I almost came at a wall then I realized what I could do in the 10 years this game is active. Dedicate yourself to a certain activity mine will be strikes and I will be the best at it or strive to.

  • Have faith. This is Bungie we're talking about. Yes, they were rushed by Activision, and yes, the story is... limited, but they are listening, and they are going to make this game even better. Look at the immense support they gave for Reach until the bitter end, and that was a game they knew they'd be kicked off of within a year or two. This is something they want to persist, to continue in iterations for a decade. People won't buy 2 without a solid 1, and tehy have a big interest in making this as good as they can. They'll expand it, just be patient. Play something else and come back once in a while until the expansion. It'll only get even better from here.

Your post and the ensuing comments touch on a vital problem. For some reason, people seem incapable of liking the game and simultaneously acknowledging its' flaws. I don't get it. While I can feel it looming nearby, I haven't hit the wall 100% yet. It helps that I tend to get lost in randomness while on Patrol. I can't count how many times I have spent an hour farming for mats I didn't need in the slightest just because a buddy and I were in an engaging conversation. Some days I don't feel like playing on my Titan after I do the bounties though, so I created a Hunter and a Warlock. I got enough Hunter gear while playing as a Titan that I jumped from LVL 20 to 25 in seconds on my Hunter and I have Legendary boots for my Warlock (Radiance is actually pretty cool). I don't play the PVP either. I don't mean to pretend that I have inside knowledge or anything, but it seems to me that Bungie was banking on this game's PVP being Halo popular. I'm betting they thought it would pad the lack of content to some degree. Hell, I played over 8000 online matches of Halo 3 and Reach, so I get where they might have gotten that idea. However, it doesn't do it for me. While it can have moments of fun, the netcode in this game is hands down, no contest, the absolute WORST I have ever seen. I am not exaggerating in the slightest. This makes Battlefield 4's worst day look like like sunshine and rainbows. I'm sure someone will blame my internet connection, but I have done everything in my power to troubleshoot and I do not have this issue with any other real time application. I posted a detailed thread about it in #Help with test results to many different US servers measuring both bandwidth and line quality but no employee ever responded in any way. It helps that my girlfriend, her son, and my best friend all play this game with me and are all at varying levels of progression. That helps me not feel like the game is becoming stagnant. It was exciting to level characters again and I feel like I will be able to give unbiased feedback on other classes now that I will have experienced them firsthand. After all, it's hard to be objective when you just got insta-killed by a Bladedancer for the 15th time that day. I have never questioned the game design decisions that a developer made so many times on a title before. To be clear, I really do like the gameplay in this game. Thing is though, there is almost nothing in the game that I wouldn't have done a good bit differently. You can't do anything with ships? Why are we stuck wearing one set of armor if we want to be LVL 30? I can't change my armor or gun colors to my liking outside of predetermined sets? Eva Lavonte doesn't ever get new shaders? They sell Exotics once a week for currency that is easily obtained, thereby breaking the rarity of said loot? No progression of any kind in the PVP? No skill based matchmaking? Why no Ghost shells? I could go on, but I won't. I will likely get called an entitled whiner for most of this. I just don't get what Bungie was thinking. I do like the gameplay. That's why I'm still playing it. Right now, the fact that I love my Titan and I still want to try out some of the Exotics are what is keeping me going. That will not carry the game forever though. The game needs an infusion of complexity and content.

I LOVE the game. Do not get me wrong. However I have to admit I am starting to hit a wall. Every day I do my daily heroic and bounties. This takes me around an hour at most. I do not bother with PVP much unless it is an exotic weapon bounty now. These feel too much like homework that I have to do but don't really want too. Every Tuesday I usually hit the Nightfall then the weekly, then the daily. Then run through some bounties. Also with the raid reset I get the raid done on normal and hard over the next few days depending on friends availability this can be frustrating (please bring in raid matchmaking bungie). Every friday its worth checking xur out to see if he is selling anything good. I just wish that the nightfall/weekly/raid reset on different days. To spread it out a little. Tuesday is just a mad rush to get the nightfall done then get the weekly heroic on level 28 done asap in case I don't get a chance to play for the rest of the week. Where I am starting to hit the wall is with my guardians progression. I have a wife, Job and Kid so no time to start another guardian. Which means I only get 2 shots at the raid loot per week. My luck has just been disheartening. Only one raid gun and one set of raid gauntlets so far with 4 raids done. Grinding, hoping and praying for legendary/exotic drops, raid gear, ascendant energy and shards is not fun.

      • I have hit the wall, the tedious boredom of this non rewarding game is pathetic. All my friends have already traded Destiny in for Drive Club etc. I'm trading this mess in for AW. Its a shame because what we all expected is not what we actually got. Non explorable miniature linear game with dungeons( strikes) that are a joke. 3 trash mobs and a over healthed boss, great dungeons:/ This game deserves to be in the trade in bin as it is way short of everything promised. In 6 months time hardly anyone will be on this gsme.

I'm done until December, I have done everything Raid on hard and normal All three characters are at level 29 Countless hours of repetitive action Have all the achievements save for the flawless raider and beat a raid with a clan RNG hates my ass so I won't be getting any raid gear, I have ran it at least 6 times and get nothing but shards This DLC better be meaty or I'm probably done for a good while not to mention all the disc locked content that makes me sad And if the ps4 gets another extra strike the Xbox doesn't get... The lack of story is appalling and for them to think its acceptable I pay the same amount for less content is BS

          • Haven't hit the wall yet. Granted I have a 30 Titan and Warlock but I haven't capped a Hunter nor have I Collected every Grimoire/Achievement for the game. Once I accomplish those. . The wall shall be hit. An I'll find a way to cope then X3

          • Yea..i did hit a wall afterclose to 70 hrs...but i just now started in a clan so hopefully the raids add more life to it for me. Once that is done im sure ill be in the same boat...then onto other games most likely...120hrs on a game without constant updates seems to be my attention span.

            • I've hit a wall for sure. I've got all exotics I want and am simply looking to hit lvl 30. I've been hunting my last raid piece for 3 weeks now with alts and its just not happening. I've done hard a few times, two legit, one pushing and I find no reason to do it anymore. I don't want the head piece nor the vex so I'm just looking for Tuesday's to get my three nm vog runs in. Unfortunately it's the only thing keeping me playing.

            • I am almost there myself. I just never get the shards I need to upgrade, never get a legendary unless I buy it, the drops are fewer. It's starting to all seam pointless. There is got to be more than just random chance.

            • Exactly here with you, went back to minecraft to stimulate my mind a little Was fun at first, but once you've got 2 - 3 level 29 or 30's who finish both raid modes (normal and hard, just so it takes longer rather than just hard straight up) it begins to drag, and there's very little point in reputation at this stage, you've got your chosen legendary weapons already and one exotic. I am rank 5 with vanguard, rank 3 with crucible, rank 3 with dead orbit and rank 3 with New monarchy, also hit rank 3 with iron banner, and rank 2 with queens wrath, so there's pretty much no point leveling up reputation, not to mention the raid gear is better than vendor gear anyhow. I really think the exotics and Xur have drowned the game, there's so little to strive for. I have probably 15+ exotics across 2 characters now, 5 of them maxed out, and the rest i never touch because they are useless. Worst part is, it's still more than a month away from the next DLC drop, and these rehashed events won't keep me interested at all.

              • I'm used to doing this in World of Warcraft. I like the grind and excitement of having a chance at better gear. It's no different with other games like call of duty where you grind for prestige after you hit end game. This game has a ton of potential with expansions and the ability to change a lot of aspects on the fly.

3 weeks I was a fanboy. I loved this game and couldn't get enough of it. I spent my time on the forum defending both Bungie and their game. Now I'm so goddamn bored with this game that I'm impatiently waiting for DAI to launch. I have continued to stress that the simple act of adding new daily activities could clean up this game's monotony. New patrols, new bounties, and new public events could go a long way. But nope -- we're doing the same daily shit we did months ago in the beta. Living game with staggered content my ass.

PvP is also not your main activity as for now, why not play it a bit more? You also need to get to 30. Need a good heavy arc weapon, too. Your journey has just started...

I've been playing since the Alpha and i find it hard to play these days, hit the wall of boredom, Crucible can be fun but i'm honestly fed up with there being so many instant kill methods in PvP that i have little to no motivation to play it, my wife plays more than i do now, i'll play once a week now maybe, rest of the playtime is my wife.
