I know we talked about this matter privately, and I let you convince me that disabling weapon features and throttling the flow of high-velocity ammunition from our vendors was going to help you keep the new recruits from feeling overwhelmed in your training programs, but I'm starting to think this is a mistake. Have you looked at the casualty figures and the after-action reports coming in from the field? You remember the field? It's that place where we send these lunatics out to play bullet sponge fighting a real enemy so that those entitled slugs down in the city can lounge around and watch Crucible matches on television in peace. So far I've been able to keep the tension in the ranks relatively under control with that old "forgetful robot" routine. Most of them are still falling for it, but it won't last. One of these days I'm going to slip up and call somebody by name. More importantly though, have you put any thought into what happens when Lord Saladin and Osiris find out about what we're doing here? They'll shit glimmer. I may be making your job easier by helping you along on this race to the bottom, but they're trying to sell the idea of live-fire combat exercises as a marketing tool to my weapons suppliers. SUROS isn't going to pay for product placement or like-to-like testing if the weapons they design are being tampered with before the gunbunnies even get a chance to use them on each other, or, Traveler forbid, on an actual enemy.
