What if a "hard" patrol was added to the game?

Since I like to spend time just running around earth and Venus shooting everything in sight, I had a thought: What if there was a patrol world with enemies lvl 20+ and not the level players would be when the campaign brought them to said planet. This would probably encourage more people to play the patrol since there is now an added challenge to it. Another idea would be to increase the spawn rate of mini bosses. It sucks to grind out ~50 vandals just to find one reaver. What do you guys think? Edit: Thanks for the feedback! Some possible additions could include fighting off the Darkness, possibly on Vex controlled Mercury, as well as visual effects of a storm, rain and general darkness. Another thing as mentioned in the OP is a big increase in yellow health enemies, a lot of you agree with that part. Last, if rep earned was increased it would make leveling vanguard much easier. I will be posting this in the feedback forum so please visit the link and comment so that it will be noticed there! Keep the ideas rolling! Edit2: over 400 comments! Wow! Some more ideas are to add patrol gear, similar to raid gear that can bring you to lvl 30. Obviously it will be hard to get, but still attainable. Another point was raised that it would not require a whole lot of work on bungie's part since the map and enemies are just about ready. I wanna hear more ideas so we can make this happen!     This needs to happen especially for Earth Patrol because it's only Lvl 4 and some of us greatly prefer to play on Earth over some of the other higher level planets. But they need to add larger mob spawns and different types of enemies and new random events and larger scale public events that last longer than a whole 30 seconds and not just turn the existing Dregs into Lvl 20 versions which is lazy and adds no higher level content which this game desperately needs.

  • Absolutely. But, please, make an option for lvl 28+ patrol with some enemies that you can not beat at your current level - at least not alone. I still remember the thrill of going down in the dark tunnel in Cosmodrome patrol near the starting point and getting killed by the Hive Majors at a low level. It'd be sweet if there were places when even the seasoned Guardians could not go alone. And, add a six person Patrol mode to that. That'd be sweet and fun to do while raiding (you know, like when waiting for the last person to join in or something).

    • That's a great idea. Especially if there were an increase in legendary drops as a reward for the more difficult environment. Also better loot chests (like more materials. Blue rather than green gear, a chance at finding marks...etc...)

    • The one thing I would add is that it would need a good risk/reward ratio. That is a big problem with a the current loot system (read details [url=http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/73357715]here[/url]) To offer a better reward for increased difficulty, material nodes should net more materials, like x2, and increase based on tier, nodes could also spawn more frequently. This would make the reward worth the risk, especially for those that find mat farming a tedious task.

      • What if? Well....we would have a hard patrol. More Majors means faster Major bounties completion. that's about it. More rep and faster? They don't want things done faster man.

      • I like this Idea a lot. Adding a lvl 26, 28 & [b]30 [/b]option to the patrol would be sick. They can up the payouts of the missions and the public events as well as have better Item drop rates. I think the lvl 30 patrol could have some cool easter eggs for those skilled enough. Like some type of "Raid Reset". Completing the mission would be extreamly difficult, think nightfall but with all lvl 30 enemies. Then as a payout, your Raid completion meeter would reset allowing you access to the Valt again. -just a thought

      • I assume the next planet will have enemies of 20-24 just running around during patrol. I would love the ability to have hard mode or open up some of the area past forgotten shores on Earth to have beacons and more enemies. They are already level 22

      • Totally agree....I really like Patrol......but you can nearly do them with your eyes closed after awhile..it would be good to have more challenging Patrols

      • I think that's an awesome idea! Some peoples' arguments are about how it would be the same reward for doing harder stuff, but it could always be increased. Not quite doubled but an increase would be nice for the harder work. Personally I think that I'm more interested in the fun aspect. Sure I could go to mars and have fun picking off the Kabal in one or two shots, but I like a challenge, and I'd like another challenge other than doing the same missions on hard all the time. Love the idea OP!

      • This would be awsome. it would make doing the 6 patrol bounty so much more fun for the higher lvl crowd. Six person fireteams for patrols too

      • I would do this anytime and everytime! The world feels so empty right now but there is so many places that could hold many more creatures to be fought, like they're keeping it to prevent new/low level player to feel overwhelmed. When those special war event starts between 2 factions, I wish it was like this all the time. Just on earth, you explore while been low level, you go to a cave where lvl ?? waits for you and one shot you. You come back later with a vengeance, only to find out that it's just a road that link Shipyard and Rocketyard together with only 10 lvl 18 enemies in between. Those maps could've been used to make you work your way through with a small team. Make the enemies lvl 22 to prevent us from storming through and explore slowly. Anyway, great idea!

      • Realistically a harder mode most likely wouldn't award more rep because that would change the longevity of the game in reference to factions. I'm still holding on to the hope that Bungie has big plans for them. I wouldn't be opposed to higher level characters being required to do a level 24+ (or heroic) patrol in order to continue getting the same amount of rep with some better drops, and more materials. It could also make the bounties more challenging.

        I would like to see this in-action quite a bit actually. It could also have the ability for a six man fire team. The enemies would be bumped up to the highest level member of the group and even turn on the epic modifier in the darkness zones.
