Do 1 shot kill fusion rifles need a nerf? (Community poll)

Before you officially decide hear me out. I'm not saying nerf the gun to be a 2 shot kill. That might eliminate it's purpose. But the charge time or amount of ammo you have access to or SOMETHING needs to change. The vex is a fusion rifle which apparently needed a nerf because it had no charge time and a 3-4 shot kill. The regular 1 shot kill fusion rifles, have nearly the same kill time if not faster. So we nerfed the hardest fusion rifle to get and allowed the easier ones to get to maintain nearly enough power to be equivalent to a golden gun with a reticle the size of half the screen. Either lessen the ammo available, increase the charge time, increase the damage drop off over range, or reduce the damage If you want to talk balance we can jump straight into kill times and this thing is just not balanced in anyway shape or form. One could literally use a 1 shot kill fusion rifle an entire game and probably have a higher kd than most people. So, I'm asking for more people to pick up sniper rifles. If you want that kinda power legitimately, get your headshots on point. I'm not even worried about shotguns. Been in bungie games since day 1 and they always work the same. The range on them is irrelevant because if you know the kid is trying to shotgun you he needs to get close and that's probably the biggest disadvantage in any fire fight ever. The fusion rifle hits mid range 1 shot kills easy. A shotgun would need 2 or 3 minimum at the close to mid range area while the player is walking towards you. Fusion rifle is 1 shot mid range and run away. Just don't think a 1 shot kill in your pocket at all times as a special weapon with unlimited ammo is exactly "balanced" Edit** I don't need pvp advice lol Edit *** If it fires 6 shots per round why does it only use 1 bullet from the ammo capacity ?

  • Really, it's just like a pulse rifle that shoots lasers and has muy bueno damage output. The only difference is it charges for about two seconds before firing.

  • The gun itself is fine. Shotties were fine before the nerf, too. The only change that needs to be made is to the ammo. You shouldn't start with secondary ammo, you should have to find it around the map, and you should drop any secondary ammo you have when you die.

    • its not a 1 shot kill. it takes 3-4 of the shots discharged with 1 charge of the fusion rifle to hit they target for it to be a kill. that makes it a 3-4 shot kill.

      In the world of destiny wouldnt you expect them to have a weapon like the fusion rifle if we are talking realism and future technology ... that being said they kill this game noob gun and i hate them completely

      • One shit kill from a moderate range, if you miss you're dead. Shotguns are also one shot kill in close. Snipers are all one shit kills from far. Let's nerf it all. Nobody is allowed to die

        • Disagree. If you upped it to take ~two hits to kill, imagine the amount of time it takes to actually get that off. You'll most likely be dead already. In order to get a OHK, you need to land relatively most of the spread anyway. I find that difficult as it is. Plan C is a great example of how it should be used (with its perk).

          • They only really need a range nerf. Their OHK range should go out to about maybe 3 times the distance of the OHK range for a shotgun but after that their effectiveness needs to drop. The fact that you can use fusion rifles in the same range that the ARs are supposed to be used (medium ranges) is just ridiculous for PVP.

          • If anything, they need to consider increasing charge time for long range fusion rifles, in PVP. I get killed in one blast, from pretty far out, right on demand. I mean, some of those suckers charge fast and go far.

            • -blam!- no. Shotguns are still 1 shot at the right range, snipers are still one shot, and fusion rifles are the 1 shot in between. Not to mention half the time it isn't a 1 shot because if you miss one of the ~7 rounds it's fires it won't kill and then you have to recharge while that guy still using a shotgun slides into your face and blam your dead

              • Never had a problem with them. They aren't a reliable mid range kill. If you get caught up close to a charged fusion rifle, you deserved it. Never felt like I was unfairly killed by a fusion rifle I need to switch to, anyway.

              • How can people say no to nerfing this gun in some fashion? Is getting one shotted at medium range by a secondary weapon okay to you people? This coming from someone who abuses the pocket infinity on a daily basis, I don't even use my primary with this incredibly broken gun and play above a 3 kd since I've picked it up

                • I had to level my void damage fusion to do the Thorn bounty and ended up with a 6 round fusion that does pretty well by my. Got lucky and found the crucible fusion too and am currently trying to get it up to 6 rounds. They annoy me to die from but can be tons of fun on small maps.

                • Technically fusion rifles are a 7 shot kill as they fire in 7 round bursts. It still requires skill and accuracy to use. Miss one or two shots from a burst and you'll receive a couple bullets in the head. I think they are perfectly balanced. The real problem is map design. Put any map from their previous games ( halo 1 through reach) and scout, pulse, and sniper rifles will be way more viable. Imagine bloodgulch in Destiny, it would be the best map.

                  • No they don't need to be nerfed. What is needed are maps with more open lane designs to discourage their use. For instance, if you are going to put the A, B, and C flags behind heavy cover then you shouldn't be surprised if everyone is sitting on the flags with close range OHK weapons. Put those things out in the open and you'll see a lot more primary gun fights and a lot less fusion rifles being the weapon of choice.

                        Fusion rifles should have been the first thing that got nerfed not only does it take zero skill to use it has far to much range and power. Shotguns are avoidable but a fusion rifle is ridiculous.

                        • Stop trying to get everything nerfed ffs! a weapon is only as good as its wielder! If you want a game where EVERY weapon does the same damage, then go play CoD. Stop ruining the game for people who like it the way it is.

                          • All nerfing Fusion Rifles is going to do is make Pocket Infinity the only useful Fusion Rifle in the game. Fusion Rifles are fine the way they are.
