I have not complained about any changes to this game.
- Loot Cave - okay, patch it (and you gave us a fun Easter Egg at that).
- Gun nerfs/buffs - you guys know best, you can watch how we play and address what's needed to provide multiple alternatives with weapon selection in PVP.
- Templar column - Even though I backed this as a "strategy", I only tried to help *one* group that insisted on it and my group has always had dedicated roles in that fight. We played the ground game and continue to do so, we're better and faster at it.
- Atheon "baby bumpers" - Yes, please. They're not necessary when you have a good team who play well together and know roles that we have unanimously determined by preference and vote. I didn't support the bug that broke him.
- Atheon's teleport behavior? - Please, Bungie, please. Most successful Raid teams have found that different members are better at different roles. This is a TEAM event. I, for one, am the dedicated Relic-holder for that fight. We've watched gameplay mechanics, we developed a system, a strategy, to break our group into two. Portal team does what needs to be done in the portals, and Gatekeeper team survives the hordes of suicidal Harpies, opens the necessary gate, and generally does the most damage to Atheon once Portal team is out, because we're busy getting ready to go back in again.
The Atheon teleport change will break not only our strategy, but most successful teams' strategies. The fight will be utter chaos. Not everyone plays the same role in a team - that's what makes a TEAM. If we could all perform the same roles, we'd be interchangeable. Why stay together? Our group dynamics are great and we all get along well, but the glitches in Atheon's fight were tough enough to get through without someone raging. The deaths of a single dedicated member alone can make the fight unwinnable.
We are using legitimate strategy there, Bungie. There is no unfair advantage, no taking advantage of unfair enemy behavior (some predictability is not a bad thing!), we just got our team 100% set this week! Not everyone can be expected to perform the same in a team. We all have strengths and weaknesses and that is part of what brings us together. We fill in each other's gaps in playstyle to complete the group.
Please rethink this Atheon patch. "Baby bumpers" are great. Make the community fight for their victory! But don't completely trash mechanics that aren't broken. I know six of me could not beat this Raid, nor could six of any other gamer I know. Level playing fields are great, but don't take away our individual strengths.
Sorry for the long post. I will be reposting this in the Feedback forum where it belongs, as I've asked others who post in the #destiny category. I've always supported you guys and plan on continuing to... Don't break the Raid, please!

ATHEON doesn't care about your 'strategy'. Every Guardian needs to be capable in each area of expertise to down the baddest baddie in the RAID. Teleport at Random....good luck! :D This is gonna be fun!
-
To add on to your story: If you mix everything up all you do is to first -blam!- every system every team had completely up and you make this raid extremely hard to complete, this does not mean working together as a team more will get you to complete the raid, it will be just as much teamwork, all it requires is for everyone to learn what to do on every position which takes a shit load of time (and will be a total bitch if some team members know how to do this and others need more time, which will only make sure that every randomly made team will be very unlikely to be able to complete the raid.. IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT BUNGIE?!), instead of improving the raid it just makes it shitty, sorry to say... Why i think that randomly made teams wont be able to complete the raid and only clan members will: Because people don't have 10 hours for the least or more to learn what to do on every position to be able to complete this, clan members will have a much easyer time getting together to have another try.. For random teams: the guys you play with on Monday wont be there on Tuesday.. You will never be able to get to an agreement where everyone can try again, you will be required to get a/serveral new members in your team, if you're lucky they are experienced, but you're more likely to get people in your team that have to learn all this, which they cant be blamed for .. But it will make it almost completely impossible for randoms in a fireteam to complete the raid.. Long story short: Thanks Bungie? Please don't do this update.. It will really ruin the game for everyone willing to do the raid (because it will be impossible) that doesn't have a clan or a clan with enough members that will be willing and have time to do the raid
-
Hey, before you jump to conclusions I could do it with 6 of me if the auto kill mechanics would allow me I could do majority alone with the right ammo drops but having even 4 of me would be beyond enough dont make a claim about others if you know you could never back it up
-
Just a question. Why are your guns all green and blue
-
Edited by PawPawSkiwee: 10/18/2014 11:05:38 PMGeorgious, that's the dumbest question on the whole thread. Congratulations!
-
If you look at James w Ralton's profiles, his characters have blue and green guns and they are lvl 30. At least, thats what I see
-
He gives all his best guns to one character, and probably best armor, so he can do the raid/weekly/nightfall. It's the fastest way to get raid gear for one character. I imagine it must be boring playing one class the whole time though...
-
I was with you up until the Atheon teleport thing. No, it doesn't have to break your whole strategy unless you let it. We had designated roles and at least twice did I find myself shooting oracles instead of exploding harpies. You improvise as best as you can with what you're given.
-
Improvisation in the event of an emergency works, but is only used until the original status quo can be restored. Improvising implies that you have a certain method in mind and something goes wrong, or that there is no plan whatsoever and you're "winging it". Random teleports completely changes (breaks) strategy. Everything becomes "In the event of..." instead of a viable base method with slight variations as needed. It can be worked around, but I don't see the need for it. Teams will break or members will forcibly become homogenous, and neither outcome is favorable in my opinion.
-
But that's all that's going to really happen if the teleporting becomes random. The teleporting would just force everyone to be prepared to wing it if they find themselves in a role that they aren't used to. You can have set roles until Atheon, but the teleporting being random doesn't necessarily break the whole game plan. You can still have your roles set for those killing Atheon, those that are making sure sublicants don't come too close and the one holding the relic. Yeah, it's a stupid idea but it doesn't kill a strategy entirely.
-
Hundreds of gamers this angry and disappointed everyday in a game we all waited years on......whats even the point of not getting your $#!+ together at this point Bungie?
-
I agree completely.
-
ABSOLUTELY AGREED. Almost everything I read in the notes sounded fine, EXCEPT FOR RANDOMIZING WHO ATHEON TAKES. Horrible, terrible idea. This is supposed to be an organized, team effort. I've beat Atheon only 3 times, and it has taken exceptional teamwork, communication, and execution of your particular role(s) to get this done. I helped out new people recently because I was able to explain their role so they didn't just get frustrated and quit. It is supposed to be a team effort of communication and skill. NOT a random cluster-blam!-. DO NOT DO THIS BUNGIE, TERRIBLE IDEA. All you're doing is making it more difficult and less organized for hard core raiders, but impossible and unplayable for casual and new raiders. This quite frankly, sucks.
-
Also look like we're not supposed to have a mind of our own and do the raid point for point just how bungie wants us to. We're not supposed to come up with strategy. OHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOH NOOO THAT'S A HORRIBLE IDEA.
-
Looks like they want everything to be random.
-
If you dont play it their way, they wont give a hoot.

Since has holding a button for 3 seconds been fun
-
I just think it's hilarious instead of fixing the fact that AI always reacts to one type of grenade a certain way they're like "well, we put Atheon in a crib. Good luck -blam!-ers"
-
We'll probably find another way to push him off. *Whispers into a phone* "warlock scholars unite."
-
I did the raid two times, I can do any role as a hunter gunslinger. Normal mode is easy, hard on the other hand is another story. But then again, you should really know what you are doing if you are doing a hard raid. All roles included.
-
I posted a thread with a poll on this. I honestly am starting to think bungie could give a rats ass what we think. I also am starting to see the game as a highly polished turd with some of the bs I've seen out of this company and starting to believe the whole "selling the content already in the game as dlcs" their idea. If this keeps up I feel my clan and friends who play this will have no choice but to quit destiny. I know that won't matter to them since they got 80 bucks off us for a half ass game. But I believe this ship is sinking and bungie is still hacking away at the bottom making the hole bigger.
-
Very true. They are destroying destiny one patch at a time.

OK, so for the people who disagree with this post. You say that teleporting three randoms would bring a new challenge for us to face, that it would make the game fun again. WRONG! It would bring chaos, frustrating and fun killing chaos. The VOG on hard is in fact HARD. For most groups out there, it can take several hours, if not days to complete. Not everyone out there is a hardcore gamer. Some do not adapt well to change or can be a well rounded raider. Some depend on the help from their friends to overcome diversity. That is why over the past weeks, raiders have molded themselves into a role that is beneficial to their teams in the VOG. Its called "strategy." Now, further into why random teleporting is a horrible idea...... 1. Those special random guns we are awarded from the VOG.... Not everyone has those. Why give us guns that do more oracle damage, if we can't choose to teleport the three best suited for the job. 2. You're taking away our individuality. If everyone is expected to be good at everything, it makes the game boring and unstable. Unstable in the sense of what's to keep a raid leader from kicking a raid member because of poor performance, or some one rage quitting and leaving the team to search for another person who might do the same. 3. Players are losing the sense that they can make their own choices in a ”open world" game. I hate the fact that Bungie is subliminally saying that we are playing the game incorrectly. What's the incentive for me to play, if choice is taken out? Might as well just have the devs come to my house and play the game for me. I am already struggling to keep playing this game. I went from playing every day for a week and a half, to playing once a week. Once a week for the raid. Now I have to be perfect at all aspects of the hard raid. I will probably have to waste hours or days perfecting my skills inside and outside of the teleports. Only to be rewarded once a week, with shards or a 4th sparrow...... I'm done.
-
I disagree, I am not the best player around and I can understand all of the roles in this game. If you want the end game content to be easy don't do it. The Hard raid is and should be Hard for a reason, you have to know all of the roles and be proficient in them. Play normal raids if you feel you are not proficient. I played two raids, and I can easily take any roles, relic holder, oracle killer, supplicant killer, boss dps, I mean come on, this isn't even half as complex as some runescape bosses, and that is saying something.
