This Loot System is Amazing

....said no-one, ever. So let's just have a ponder at the ways we can get loot. Once you hit level 20 in six hours after putting the game, every single enemy in the game now has the exact same chance to drop all rarities of loot. Killing a level 4 Acolyte whilst in free-roam on Earth, has the exact same chance as killing level 28 buffed enemies in the Weekly Nightfall Strike or the level 26 enemies in the end game Raid. Efficiently, you can kill a couple hundred Acolytes (or even a thousand) that permanently spawn in a cave on Earth within an hour. You can finish the Nightfall Strike in that amount of time with only one to two hundred kills. I remember getting a notification when I hit level 20 - I cannot remember the details, but supposedly we could now undergo the strikes and missions as daily/weekly events at a higher level to earn legendary loot. I do every Daily mission and every weekly Strike (except Nightfall), which so far has been kind enough to give me maybe two Legendary Engrams. I've also stood a fair distance away from a small cave on Earth mindlessly blowing away level 4 enemies for the same amount of time I've spent on the Dailies/Weeklies, yet earned roughly thirty Legendary Engrams. Other than Strange Coins and Ascendant Materials, there is next-to-no reason to undergo the Dailies/Weeklies. In fact, whilst getting my thirty Legendary Engrams from decimating level 4's, I also found (at a rough estimate) two hundred Decoherent Engrams - after decrypting all of these, I have enough strange coins to buy out Xûr for the next few weeks, so now the Weekly Strikes are redundant. Mind you, these engrams also have a chance to yield Motes of Light, which the Weekly Strikes and Daily Missions cannot give to you, bringing forth more reasons to mindlessly annihilate level 4's instead. Oh, of course, the Dailies can give you Ascendant Materials - oh, but all the Legendaries I found can be salvaged into these materials.. I guess, technically, I could max out my gear without ever touching the Daily Missions, either. But wait, there's more! The PVP Loot Rewarding System is it's own kind of "special". Technically, just at a guess, you'd give the best rewards to the best players, the MVP with eight control point captures, 36 kills and a 6KD for that game, would logically receive some beefy rewards such as Legendary Engrams, correct? Nope. The person who joined late, went AFK, got one control capture, 2 kills and a 0.2KD was rewarded the Legendary Engram- OH WOW, HE WAS REWARDED AN EXOTIC WEAPON TOO!? Are you telling me.. If I use a rubber band to keep my character spinning around so I can AFK an entire game without getting kicked, I'll get the better rewards? Remarkable! There's even twitter accounts named after the Legendary Engram and Cryptarch, that take the absolute piss out of your game's Loot System. It's rather amusing, there's some quality stuff on there. For example, this is one of their most recent tweets: @legendaryengram: The Queen's Wrath content includes more bounties and no new story. At least Bungie is consistent. They drop your hope like I drop rares. Don't get me wrong, I've had a fair amount of luck with your game, I've had multiple exotic bounties, I have a few exotic weapons thanks to those, plus some legendaries, full legendary/exotic armour and so on. I'm one of the luckier ones, and I'm truly grateful for that, but even I, someone who's got all this wonderful loot, am able to point out the absolute confusion and illogical nonsense your Loot System brings forth. I'm speaking for everyone, and if you can find people who for some out-of-this-world reason find this Loot System to make sense and be a good end-game system, I could well and truly go into cardiac arrest. Sadly, this is not a troll, and it pains me to admit this. This is well and truly Destiny's Loot System in a nutshell. Reach max level, farm enemies from the beginning of the game, don't touch end-game content and you'll be better off than those players who repeatedly try high level strikes for non-existent improved loot drop chances. Please, can I get a response here? Surely you read this, or have read the couple hundred other posts about your Loot System? Would you consider changing it? Personally, I believe enemies under level 20 shouldn't drop Legendary Loot. Then, the higher the level and the harder the modifiers should then increase the chance of Loot Drops. This is the way it should be. Bungie, can you truly say I should be rewarded all my Legendaries for decimating thousands of level 4's at the very beginning of your game in free roam? Sorry for the wall of text, but you wasted more time farming Legendaries to get rewarded with Rare's than you did reading my post. [EDIT] As someone liked to point out - there is gear only obtainable in the Raid, this is correct, but how do you gear up for the Raid? The exact way I pointed out in this post. Oh, and the Raid rewards can only be obtained once per week, then it's back to the good ol' Treasure Cave. Plus, the exotics found in the Raid are far more efficiently obtained through the thousands of level 4 Acolytes you kill than the few moments you're rewarded loot during the Raid once per week. So here is Destiny. Buy the game, reach level 20 in half a day, farm the Treasure Cave till you're roughly level 26-28, skip all high level end game Strikes and so on, beat the raid a couple times when you're allowed to attain all Raid specific gear. Congratulations, your accumulated Destiny playtime adds up to: 10% - Getting to level 20. 70% - Farming the Treasure Cave. 0% - Playing high level end game Strikes. 20% - Farming limited amount of Raid Gear. Now, wait for DLC. Yes, this will cost extra.

  • It is quite fantastic spent an hour doing the weekly heroic strike and got 1 blue engram. Decoded it and got a legendary leg armor, which don't get me wrong is awesome but the only problem is that I'm a Warlock and the armor is for a Titan. WTF??? Why do I get Titan armor when I'm a Warlock? Best loot system ever!!!!!!!
