Last night I stumbled on something that paid more in encoded engrams (hence cryptarch rank) , other equipment engrams, XP and event two ascendant energy and one ascendant shard than I ever got spending time at the old cosmodrome cave that was then patched away. It was also much more fun than spending hours staring at a cave entrance in the distance. In about 2 hours I took a lvl 15 to just short of lvl 20. So do I share it or do I keep quiet and just use it to level up my own characters on the basis that it might just be patched otherwise?
EDIT: in case anyone can't find it I posted the details here:

6 RepliesEdited by wrightflyer_1903: 10/17/2014 11:53:45 AMCrikey this thread kind of took off over night!! Oh and thanks for more than 100 PMs to everyone but you do know that I actually posted the technique early in this thread don't you? My reply to VillainMcDillon (first to recognise what I was talking about) from last night is here: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/73395588/0/0/1 To reiterate: As some of your detectives discovered (by looking at my activity history) it is "The Dark Beyond" on the moon but as my 841 K/D figure shows it is not repeated death in front of the "We've woken the Hive" doors. You just don't die (or shouldn't) while doing this. The point is this - before you get to "We've Woken the Hive" in The Dark Beyond you get given a Pike (actually access to several in fact). The usual tendency is to drive round on it for a few minutes both at Archers Line and then Anchor of Light and just shoot a few guys. But then you get bored so you move on to the next mission point in that round control room suspended up in the air where your ghost then tells you to go on to the Temple of Crota. You then ditch the Pike (it goes when the video plays when you check out the dead guardian/ghost anyway) and that's the end of your Pike fun. But the cool thing about the Pike is that it has a stupidly powerful weapon and infinite ammo and as long as you weave about a bit to avoid heavy shots (mainly servitors) it goes on forever. But even if the Pike is destroyed you just go back to the original Archers Line spawn location and pick up another one that is waiting there for you. It's also the case that as you enter Anchor of Light if you turn left as you get to that first mound that almost always has one vandal and one dreg/shank (shoot them as you go) then you come round a corner where there are two vandals ahead - kill them then look right and slightly above you are a vandal and a shank (usually - though sometimes its a dreg). Kill them quickly then go up to the point where they were and turn left to face the raised platform that probably has a servitor, a vandal and captain (55 XP - yeah!) on it. Kill all those then go down to below where they were and there'll be three dregs (they may retreat into the building). Kill them and any other dregs around there now continue this circuit around to the right and you come to the place with that control room suspended up in the air. The chances are the two dregs are on the ramp up to it. Kill them. Then dead ahead is a captian (55 XP!) and three or four dregs or maybe some shanks. Kill them. On the big building there's a servitor shooting down at you. Kill it then go "under" the building and there's a ramp up. Go up there and on the platform where the servitor was there's three dregs and two vandals. Kill them. Now fly the Pike down off that building and head back to where you first come into Anchor of light but as you do turn back and kill those two dreg on the ramp. Then there's two dregs, a vandal and a shank below the building at the bottom of the hill. Kill them. (oh and off to the left where that old space capsule is there's two dreg - but it's probably not worth the effort to drive over and kill them for only 40 XP). Finally you are back to that raised platform where you first came in and the vandal and dreg you first shot should have respawned (and everyone else you just killed as you get to them). The circuit took 1-2 minutes. You killed about 20 shanks/dregs, about 10 vandals, two captains and two servitors. You have about +600XP, if you are lucky two or three green or even blue globes and you are ready to go again (I pick up the globes by flying over them rather than leaving to collect them at the end). Now do it all again. As I said this is MUCH more fun than the boring old cave. You are using your wits all the time to kill and avoid being killed and you are ranking up almost constant deaths and collecting XP and drops all the time. The icing on the cake is that there's two different Public Events that occur near where you are doing this circuit every 15..30 minutes so rather than going looking for them the public events come to you and when you do (if you are careful) you have weapon/ride that can take out a reaver vandal in about 2 seconds. I gold tiered every event that occurred while I was doing it. (as well as the ascendant stuff I mentioned elsewhere I also got vanguard marks of course - so that's another thing that comes out of this farming run). Above all it is great fun! In one of the posts in this thread (I read them all) someone said this kind of killing route is exactly what Bungie intended you to be doing to gain stuff so unlike the boring cave I don't see why they'd patch it because you can really enjoy doing this one. Oh and after I posted this thread and went to bed last night I thought of something. I've noticed that when other players are about it seems to stop the spawn cycle (a bit like the reason you had to stay some distance from that original cave) so if everyone reads this and starts doing it then it's probably not going to work - sorry about that ;-) (but my 841 K/D does show that if no one else is around then it does ;-) PS instead of just letting us buy sparrows - how about Bungie letting us by a sparrow with a weapon or perhaps just the Pike itself - I suppose it'd make the game too easy??

Just resurrecting an old thread but someone asked me about this so I captured/posted a PS4 video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFa2PGhPqho That's basically just one "circuit" of what I'm talking about that's cut-short a bit at the end as a Public Event happened to turn up and further demonstrate how useful a Pike is for quickly getting through those too ;-) As well as an engram left from the previous "circuit" this shows 3 more being dropped. That was kind of lucky, you might usually only expect to get one on every 2nd or 3rd circuit in fact - not three in one circuit. From the place where this video statrs you go over the "hump" and there's always a vadanl+dreg/chank to the left. Then on the raised platform opposite there's always a vandal and often a captain and couple of dregs too. On the ramp to the right there's always a servitor and beneath the platform there's always 3 dregs. Further down the hill, although the video only shows one, there's usually two vandals. Then round the corner on the raised platform there's always a vandal and either dreg or shank. At the base of the following building there's usually one vandal and two dregs/shanks. As you go back towards where the video started (assuming a public event doesn't start) there is a captain and often 5 or 6 shanks/dregs. Then there's a servitor on the raised platform (same place as the public event one appears). After killing all those you just go over the "hump" and start it all again. The killing is virtually endless so you are getting a lot of XP and drops all the time. I started a brand new character and as soon as the Moon became available (Dark Shadow is first) I did nothing but this blasting circuit. I got the character to level 20 in 11h and 42 minutes. There are probably other ways to level up as quick or even quicker but I doubt many are as much fun ;-) (oh and every time the Pike gets shot up a bit and starts to flame you just go back to the mission start and collect a new one)

5 RepliesFound your loot cave nice try bro.

4 RepliesYour Titan's recent game history reveals your farming spot to be within "The Dark Beyond Mission" and there are many YouTube videos that show your special farming cave. It is futile to try and keep your farming spot a secret because Bungie looks for certain games like yours with an unusually high kill/death ratio because it is considered an outlier in terms of raw data. It's quite obvious to Bungie data miners what and where farming spots are in the game.
-
3 Repliesside question: only on earth and the moon i found it possible to ride a pike, on mars you can ride also a vehicle (forgot the name) did anybody found a pike on the other planets you could ride?
-
2 RepliesThe spot based on your history was easy to find. It's already been used and abused long ago.
-
4 RepliesWhat's the point of doing that on The Dark Beyond? You can do the same thing on patrol.
-
I will admit, I am curious about this
-
4 RepliesThat's so weird, I would do this on patrol like 3 weeks ago, this exact same circuit...does that mean I'm the founder??? Never really got many engrams from it though, I would just stay doing it for the public events.
-
My fav run right now is on Venus, where the vex and fallen fight in this center room. Infinite spawns, in about an hour i got a legendary engram which turned into The Truth exotic rpg

3 RepliesGuessing you just want attention?

1 ReplyMy bet that's a dark beyond mission ;) Some respawn trick. U made 841 kills 1 death, so it's obviously not a "we awoken the hive". Pm me, if im correct.
-
No shame, pm please!
-
2 RepliesIf you got an Ice Breaker, just find a suiteble vantage point anywhere in the game where you can see a good deal of enemys.. Then start picking them off. Mars is awsome for this, as they spawn faster than you can tak them out:)

1 ReplyDark Beyond, start mission, the cave where the pikes are parked.

307 RepliesEdited by wrightflyer_1903: 10/17/2014 12:20:17 PMThis is so tempting to just post a link to a YouTube video. I couldn't find one suggesting exactly what I'm suggesting but I did find one of someone doing roughly the same route/thing but he doesn't realise what he's discovered and the really ironic thing is that 6:27 in the video the guy even says "they just keep coming, there seems to be no end to this thing" which is EXACTLY what you want for a good farming run! But what I'll do is (on a real keyboard, not this tablet!) put together some notes as to the sequence (it'll help if I could actually log in to PSN and play it) and then PM it to everyone in this thread (of course one of you could be from Bungie ;-). If anyone thinks it's obvious just say when I PM and we can give up this thread as a bad idea ;-) NOTE I am NOT going to send PMs - I have posted the solution in this thread (see link in 1st post). Apologies to the 100+ people still waiting a PM reply but all the PM would say is "read this thread" anyway ;-)

2 RepliesI dont agree that its a better way to exp then the loot cave... One wave in the loot cave gave 4 Thralls and 6 Archs thats 4x 15 exp and 6x20 exp each 10 seconds aprox. that 180 exp withing a time span of 10 seconds. In one minute 1080 exp, but lets cut it down to 1000. I know the "we awoken the Hive" spot can be and IS boring, but imo very effictive for numerous bounties and leveling.
-
3 RepliesKill everyone but the Knight after spawning dead guardian. Let knight kill you. Rinse and repeat. Yes. This was one of my first farms, and still a favourite for Fusion rifle and major give kills bounties. I never kill the knight so I'm always at that checkpoint.
-
May I know where it is? Pm?

2 RepliesHey I'm looking for some players to help me out with the last mission of a thorn bounty. In return I guess I can send you a friend request and if you need support for raid or whatever I can help out. I'm a pretty active player so there's that lol. Or if you wanna do it outta the kindness of your heart that's cool too :) Also for 360

yea bud. keep quit. don't tell people cuz they'll end up getting it patched.
