A Vex Mythoclast petition we can all agree on

Guys thank you for keeping this thread alive I think we did it! Or at least helped* http://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update---10172014/en/News/News?aid=12295 NOW WHO WANTS TO HELP ME GET THE GUN LOL! Please restore auto rifle stats and the vex mythoclast but only in PvE, I dont see any flaws in this logic. This leads to the obvious question of future hard mode raid weapon drops? ARE WE GOING TO GRIND DLC RAIDS FOR UNDERPOWERED WEAPONS? People have been asking for nerfs, These people have a very particular set of skills, skills that make them a nightmare for people like you and I. If you have a favourite weapon they will look for it, they will find it, and they will nerf it. Bungies first solution was giving you a raid sparrow that nerfed itself if you go to fast lol. Now if you get to many kills with a weapon your guaranteed a repercussion nerf thread. Just my two cents but maybe patch in a gun that explodes and kills you if you go positive in a game? OPINION (this isn't a dictatorship feel free to disagree) : I have honestly yet to see a valid argument for nerfing, it seems like "balancing" has become the new scapegoat for lack of skill and strategy. People who got outgunned by the mythoclast could have just as easily lost at that range to any fusion rifle or shotgun. That said I am neutral on the PvP aspect, but good players who grind hard raid for this gun should not be penalised in PvE. Nerfing is the wrong path, it just opens doors to new nerfs. This is blatantly obvious from every second thread demanding a new exotic nerf. I understand some players aren't as skilled as others but egalitarianism doesnt work here, its online COMPETITIVE multiplayer, You are constantly thriving for progression and getting more kills and good loot. These nerfs completely destroy that purpose, whats the point in grinding an item only to have it butchered? I completely agree with the pocket infinity arguments aswell. It took me a long time to dismantle those rares and what was the pay off? the same pay off we now get from completing hard mode raids, the new crutch for sub par players BALANCE! Id also just like to add that I dont even own the gun yet, I've been through a handful of hard raids only to get the same helmet four times. I've lost alot of incentive towards hard raid, but i still want it. Final EDIT: Here is a link to another petition on change.org, FULL CREDIT TO CLEARVUE! http://www.change.org/p/attention-destiny-un-nerf-the-vex-and-auto-rifles-for-pve?recruiter=166761604&utm_campaign=twitter_link_action_box&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=share_petition Please sign it if you guys feel it a worthy cause, We aren't here to whine and complain. We are here to come together as a community. To find a common ground to a problem we feel can be fixed without upsetting or negatively affecting anyone. Thank you for taking the time out to voice your opinions. GUYS THERE ARE NEARLY 1k POSTS HERE, YET WE ONLY HAVE AROUND 300 SIG'S ON CHANGE.ORG. Please jump in the link and sign aswell!

  • Here's the thing about nerfs. Its natural for it to happen in MMOs like Destiny. When they talk about balancing they're talking about it in the sense that they don't want PvE to end up being a situation where everyone just goes with one type of weapon simply because it outclasses all other weapons and in the case of the AR it did. Its effective range and the damage output from ARs simply outclassed the pulse rifle and the scout rifle. The equivalent in another MMO would be how in WoW there was a time in which Beast Master Hunters out dps every other hunter subclass by such a large degree that it was pointless to raid as anything else except BM (or Survival for kiting and crowd control purposes). For the most part I agree with the nerf of the precision damage multiplier for the AR and the range effectiveness - but I do disagree with the 2% damage nerf. I didn't think that was needed. ARs can still remain effective especially in close quarters but it shouldn't be able to outgun a scout rifle at longer ranges than that. As for Vex Mythoclast - I disagree with nerfing it entirely. Its a special weapon that very few players actually possess and they got it by beating the Raid at its highest difficulty. The nerfing of the weapon was not needed except perhaps in PvP but even then I don't think it required that much of a nerf since it doesn't automatically make you a 1 man wrecking crew. If you went toe to toe with it then yes you're probably going to lose (but if you're a smart player then you just avoid that fight entirely and only take them on when you have numbers). Nerfs are going to happen - they're a natural part of games that incorporate a multiplayer aspect in the same fashion that Destiny does. Even in the PvE environments classes will get nerfed because some changes simply make one class or weapon outclass the other options available. I love scout rifles - and I want them to be viable but unfortunately even in PvE they are simply outdone by ARs. Keep an open mind and have some perspective as to why these nerfs happen. Its easy to pin point it on a group of complainers but the reality is that yes ARs were simply too effective of a weapon compared to the others. Obviously the choice would then be to just buff the other ones but that doesn't always work out either. You'll see soon enough that if the ARs end up becoming entirely ineffective and another weapon outclasses all other options then a nerf and buff will be coming in as well. Balance is tricky and to maintain it and add new content is even trickier. Right now I do feel that the scout rifle buffs have been rather dramatic - they can get toned down a bit. ARs need their 2% damage back. Thats about it.

Here's an Idea. Make an exotic bounty to un-nerf the mythoclast. In the same way getting some exotics like Ice-breaker or Invective trigger a crucible bounty have Vex Mythoclast trigger an exotic bounty that requires peeps to complete multiple steps throughout the hard-mode raid. You could make the challenge level insane, requiring stages of the raid to be completed a certain way much like how the 5th chest is accomplished on Templar. Here's the kicker: You get the unnerfed uber PvE Mythoclast, but it can't be used in crucible. The "upgraded" Mythoclast will again become a badge of honor at completing the hardest thing in the game (thus far) but still allow players the choice of keeping it nerfed to use in Crucible as is.

  • What I would like to see with the mythoclast is not the same person get it everytime we go into the raid! If you've already gotten the mythoclast you shouldn't be able to get it again! Right? Done the damn raid twice tonight and with the same ppl just different characters and the same guy got the mythoclast both times and he already got one prior to that! That's crazy! Just give everyone a fair chance to get it! You (bungie) took all the cheering away and still did not fix the telaporting nor the health regeneration on the patoriens so at least give everyone a chance to get the mytho! It's stupid the same person keeps getting it! Come on now!

I disagree with your point. Though that in no way invalidates your opinions on the nerf.
A minority of people have been asking for nerfs, These people have a very particular set of skills, skills that make them a nightmare for people like you and I. If you have a favourite weapon they will look for it, they will find it, and they will nerf it.
This is a mistruth. Many players got to experience Destiny during the Beta and I had the privilege of wasting two weeks of my life doing little else. During that time, Auto-Rifles were even more ridiculous than release. It was unanimous that a nerf was needed. Release came. The general consensus was again Auto-Rifles needed returning. Here's why: Auto-Rifles could maintain accuracy at range equaling Scout and Pulse Rifles. This flat out invalidates the reason for both the Scout and Pulse Rifles weapon classes to exist. When a weapon is causing half your primary sandbox to feel unnecessary, your sandbox needs retooling. I was lucky enough to recieve the Monte Carlo the second week of release. I love it. It's been a mainstay of my PVE kit since. With the advent of the patch, I have noticed no significant change in my DPS or effectiveness with my primary exotic Auto-Rifle. I successfully cleared both Normal and Hard Mode on the Raid Wednesday night. This nerf has summarily no effect on current PVE AR meta.
I have honestly yet to see a valid argument for nerfing, it seems like "balancing" has become the new scapegoat for lack of skill and strategy. People who got outgunned by the mythoclast could have just as easily lost at that range to any fusion rifle or shotgun.
I take it you didn't notice the Mythoclast had it's precision damage factor increased from 1.25 --> 1.50? That's a massive multiplication bonus. The issue with the Mythoclast was in PVP it could kill a player in .03 seconds with 3 shots to the body. At range. Fusion Rifles and Shotuns serve a similar purpose yes, but each comes with it's own limitations. Fusion Rifles must charge and Shotguns have inferior range. It needed to be brought to heel. But what about PVE effectiveness? Said everyone ever. Again, I direct you to the precision damage increase. Precision damage is not hard to achieve in PVE. The Mythoclast is still very effective. Does it need additional retooling? Probably. But a weapons sandbox is never perfect. Meta will change.
I understand some players aren't as skilled as others but egalitarianism doesnt work here, its online COMPETITIVE multiplayer,
You're mislabeling PVE content. PVP is referred to as competitive multiplayer.
We are here to come together as a community. To find a common ground to a problem we feel can be fixed without upsetting or negatively affecting anyone. Thank you for taking the time out to voice your opinions.
I find this hard to reconcile when you've called out both PVPers and people who didn't like the power of the Mythoclast. You're creating dividing lines.

    • The Mythoclast was entirely overpowered for PvP. I agree that the nerfs should remain with PvP though.

      • I managed to obtain the Vex Mythoclast after the patch, I heard stories and saw game play of the weapon destroying in PVP. It inspired me and a group of friends to get one for our own. But after upgrading and learning how the weapon works I realise that it gets out preformed by other weapons and in certain ranges; such as close and long range. The main weapon I found out doing the Vex Mythoclast was Suros resigme as the weapon deals more damage than the Vex Mythoclast the further down the magazine you went, dealing up to more than 60+ a head shot near the end of the magazine. Which is very close to the amount that scout rifles do, although it is towards the end of the magazine as stated. Now the Vex Mythoclast is currently a challenge to obtain where as Suros resigme was sold by xur repeatedly making it really easy to purchase. So Bungie need to either Buff the Vex Mythoclast making it a viable choice again in PVP or Nerf the current optimal weapon to use in PVP the Suros resigme.

      • I think the same nerfing the "best" gun in pve and pvp is not the way to handle this! Pvp its okay but not so nice. And the big mistake was the nerf for pve! I testet it before and after the nerf! Only funny xD

      • They need to give it full damage in pve.. I've spent hundreds of hours getting it and now that this nerf hit there's no reason for scrambling your brains in hard mode to get it..

        • I am glad that Bungie will slightly buff the Vex for PvE. I am also hoping they would at least increase the ammo capacity for PvE only having 168 ammo is just.. yeah. Practically out of ammo during the VoG Raid.
