Wait around the corner until it goes away? It's hands down the worst super in the game.

  • I have over a 3.0 K/D in Rumble and I only use Defender. The shield is the worst Super with Armor of Light. Illuminated Blessing of Light basically gives you a near indestructible shield that flashes anyone touching it and offers an infinite supply of +50% HP shields for 45 seconds, that each last somewhere around 10 seconds. I run around and patrol the area and win most 1v1s, often I get enough energy to put down another one as my old one runs out, which basically gives me 150% HP for the entire match. Just have to time it so that you don't get blown up by a Rocket Launcher or Super. Most Supers are avoidable once you get good enough with the flash effect. As a Striker planning to use FoH enters the bubble, you can run out the back. He'll pop the bubble and you can kill him while he's flashed. If he notices you escaping and doesn't use FoH, he's still flashed and easy prey for a melee kill, at which point I get Unbreakable Force Barrier for free. Nova Bomb will break the bubble but is easy to avoid dying to. Golden Gun has to destroy the bubble first, which offers an opening to escape. Arc Blade/Radiance can be killed in one burst of Pocket Infinity or a few Sniper Rifle headshots and are only really useful in melee range, where they'll get flashed. It's all about the placement and tactics. I'd rather have that shield to win 1v1 encounters than a Fists of Havok or Nova Bomb to get 1-2 kills with.

  • eh, you can see my stats too....and I disagree. Only noobs get killed by defenders. Any decent player will run and wait for it to go away, then you're stuck with crap nades, crap perks, etc.

I agree that the other abilities of the Defender are pretty much garbage. But regarding whether or not it is the WORST Super, just taken on its own merits? No, not at all. I'd rather have my whole team have +50% HP for 45 Seconds than revive and kill one guy before getting killed by one burst of a Pocket Infinity. lol. It's not that easy to run away from it in a small Rumble map, like The Anomaly or The Burning Shrine. There are 6 players on a tiny map and with Blessing of Light, I can cover half the map looking for someone to kill before having to return to get another shield. You can't have all 5 enemies avoid you, really. They can't all stay on the same side of the map. At the very least, they kill each other and spawn on your side of the map eventually. It does work much better against bad players, especially outside of Rumble, where you get less 1v1s. But I can almost always get 2-3 easy kills, lock down an area and provide my whole team with shields that allow them to win most 1v1 encounters for 45 seconds, even against parties of decent players in Iron Banner. It's not the best Super nor is it the worst.

  • No, it's the worst super in the game. Fact. Only complete noobs get killed by it. There's no need to control any area because there are no objective modes (no, control is TDM).

  • Having map control in any PvP game is always crucial, so I don't see how having no objective changes how good the Defender class is. It's definitely better in objective game modes though. But saying only noobs die by a bubble is flat out ignorant. If you die inside the bubble, than ok you're dumb for entering the thunder dome, but otherwise the super helps control the flow of a match. Using Ward to restrict or trap a team can essentially lead to a whole team getting pinched and easily killed. You seem to be very close minded about this super in general. And like the guy before me mentioned, the buffs the bubble grants alone can really shift momentum and help your team as a whole.

Well, in Rumble it's somewhat hard to get even 2 kills with Fists of Havok/Nova Bomb. I'd rather have 50-60% more health for half the match, thanks. In Clash I generally get my Super before everyone else if I can pick up a quick streak at the beginning, then deploy it before anyone else has their Supers or Heavy ammo. Then my whole team has substantially boosted health and steamrolls the other side. It doesn't really matter if it's the "worst Super" against 6 very good players in a party. There's no private matches or ranked matches and 98% of the population is those "noobs" you're talking about. Thus, it isn't the worst Super. It might be the worst Super against six of YOU, but against 6 of your average players, it is pretty useful.

  • Fact meaning your opinion right? But see that's not a fact, it's just what you think.

  • Yet I kill more people with it then the striker lol. Can't tell you how many times people run into it to melee me only to get a shotgun or fist to the face. Had one time where four people ran in and I just shotgunned them down one at a time.
