I'm not 'raging' or anything, I just honestly don't understand.
Many fusion rifles can charge faster than other weapon's times to kill. This means that the fusion rifle has the fastest time to kill just to start off.
Now factor in that people can charge them as they turn a corner, and they get an even faster kill time then their already fastest time to kill, sometimes nearly instantly killing people if used properly.
Doesn't it seem like an issue that the gun can almost instantly kill someone at mid-range? Even if you miss your shot you can often prep another one before they are physically able to kill you.

1 ReplyNot so much OP as broken. There are fusion rifles that take no time to charge up and fire right away so there is no avoiding it and they are a one shot kill from mid range and beyond. It should take two shots minimum from a fusion rifle to be a kill. That would balance the ttk with a fusion rifle in line with most everything else.

I know, I look a vex stats seem OK, I look at pocket, stats seem good, I look at plan c, good god.

3 RepliesShotgun=close Fusion Rifle= mid Sniper=long Shotgun- make distance Fusion Rifle- strafe/jump Sniper- don't sit still/glide I thought they were op at one point as well. They truly aren't op at the slightest. I use all 3 special types. I don't feel any of them are op. Some are just better in some engagments.

6 Repliesidk - usually you can hear the people precharging - the "zip zip zip zip zip zip zip zip" lol - then, when you know its coming slide or sidestep - ive been able to sidestep a fusion shot, or at least most of them so i survive, have my shotty out and blast em - or just have a long range rifle out and take em out that way - yeah they kill in one hit but so can shotguns, so can snipers, but they all require a certain skill to use just gotta counter them
-
Fusion rifle is fine how it is. Don't see the problem. You have to charge it and it easily dodged

And? Are all guns supposed to be exactly the same? Should we just all have auto rifles? Why make different types of guns at all? We should all just wear the same armor, be the same class and shoot the same gun because all people play exactly the same way. I hate Hand Cannons. Could Bungie please remove them?

Edited by soniac1693: 10/21/2014 10:43:43 PMFusion rifles are definitely powerful, no doubt. They aren't OP though, I do about almost as well with a shotgun as I do with a fusion rifle. The thing with fusion rifles is that all the bullets in your stream have to connect to land a 1HK. Also add the fact that they don't have crazy range either, definitely more than a shotgun but less than every other weapon. I get a lot of kills from mine. I also get killed a lot by other weapons while using it. It's somewhat situational, and also honestly depends on your opponents' loadouts. I tried fusion rifles early into the game and was horrible with them. Honestly it's about how good your fusion rifle is (Stability is killer) and how good you are with it. Definitely potent, but not to where it's OP. Edit: Didn't clarify, I was bad with them at first. After I got a good one and got used to shooting it, my skill with them vastly improved. It's really about your weapon and how skilled you are with it.

11 RepliesFusion Rifles are easily foiled by strafing. If the user doesnt score an OHK with their first shot, they are buggered. Unless, of course, they have a Pocket Infinity *evil grin*

As a PvP player who now very frequently uses Fusion Rifles I wholeheartedly agree. On almost any map I can run around with a fusion rifle, not use my primary weapon once, and still dominate. You never run out of ammo and it kills in one shot in most instances. I usually use the Plan C, which has a good combination of charge time and impact. Not to mention it also instant fires when I switch from primary to the Plan C. Other than that I use the 77-Wizard which has a fairly slow charge time but kills in one shot at ridiculous ranges.

4 RepliesEdited by felismenari: 10/21/2014 10:28:00 PMEh, my experience with fusion rifles in PvP leads me to believe that they are just fine. People complain about the range, but has anyone noticed that in PvP the effective range of FRs is cut down massively compared to their effective range in PvE? My Light/Beware can take out PvE enemies at long range with ease. In PvP? The range is not even remotely what it is in PvE. I can't use it in the same way (mid-long range destroyer). It just doesn't work. As others have said, FRs are basically longer range shotguns. But, you sacrifice instant action for premeditated strikes. You have to know what you're doing with it, or you can easily get yourself killed with a FR out in PvP. Unlike most other weapons, the projectiles that come out of FRs have a travel time; they don't hit instantly. You have to lead your targets, which makes them a bit more difficult to effectively use in scenarios where you have constantly moving targets (PvP). So again I say, FRs are just fine in PvP. Now for PvE, things are quite different. Even FRs with shorter effective range are useful up to a decent distance. Certain FRs are tuned for longer ranges (Light/Beware being the prime example). With an already good range coupled with range finder and a hefty stability boost, the Light/Beware can reach out and touch enemies at surprisingly long distances. Though FRs can't crit (well, they can't normally, but for some reason they seem to on certain enemies), they still do a good chunk of damage when all seven projectiles hit your intended target. That being the case, it makes shotguns in PvE feel nigh pointless.

3 RepliesMy Pocket Infinity: OP as f*ck. I've gotten 36 kills in one game by just using the pocket infinity, now that is over powered. Fuaion rifles are bullshit and I'm proof of it.

1 ReplySniper Rifles are easier to use. /my argument

3 RepliesThis is exactly why I hate fusion rifles (that and the fact that they are ALWAYS OHKs at all but the farthest ranges). Yes, these guns are OP. The whole gun class is OP. They are for the "kiddies" out there who don't really know how to use tactics to play a shooter.

3 RepliesEdited by Øbscure: 10/13/2014 4:36:13 PMFusion Rifles, generally speaking, completely sacrifice rate of fire. Any sufficiently skilled player that isn't killed by a Fusion Rifle shot can kill the enemy before they fire again. I once used a primary with the Quick Draw perk specifically to mitigate that draw back. That being said, I once used a primary with quick draw because once I fully upgraded Pocket Infinity I no longer sacrificed rate of fire, and thus had no need for that. Now if you want to make a case for fusion rifles being overpowered, you should be talking specifically about Pocket Infinity (an 8 shot full auto fusion rifle) or the Vex Mythocast (a primary weapon fusion rifle that fires like a scout rifle). Every other fusion rifle in the game (to include Plan-C) is a well balanced weapon. Pocket and Mythocast? They are insidious weapons spat from the foulest pits of cruelty and pain sadistically forged to turn an average guardian into a destroyer of worlds.

3 RepliesThey are perfect for shredding shields in PvE, and in PvP I can see how they are lots more practical than shotguns. But they are used as a counter. Auto rifles dominated first, then shotgun rushes, now fusion rifles to beat shotgunners with its longer range. Soon there will be an even better counter, like snipers aimed at spawn points (icebreakers for everyone!). Personally I've only been killed maybe 2 or 3 times by a fusion rifle, because it was precharged and I ran out into its crosshairs. Normally my high impact primary kills them too quick.

From my experience if I miss the shot a lose unless the other guy has bad aim. But the biggest reason is because a shotgun is almost a guaranty kill in close rang.

7 RepliesWorst weapon in all of destiny, it should be a heavy honestly with it's one shot kill

Edited by Draconus2006: 10/13/2014 7:21:26 PMPerfect. Now they have players who cant be killed. with permenant golden gun. (made a thread explaining exactly the case - its legit sadly)

1 ReplyHaha yeah have you seen the pocket infinity it's rigged

Noob weapons

1 Replyin PvE they are not overpowered.

11 RepliesLooking at it from a mechanics perspective I would say they are OP depending on the charge time. Their range and quick charge time combined with their damage lets them outperform several primaries at short to medium ranges. Now in-game things are a bit different simply because of the poor map variety greatly favoring shotguns. Overall I would say that all secondaries need to be rebalanced. Lower the damage of them all, slightly increase the range of shotguns (and rework the range buffs on them), and rework ammo availability for special weapons. The 1hkos of this game is excessive and the ammo availability of special guns does NOT help with this.
-
3 RepliesI've killed people with a pulse rifle at close range that had fusion rifles simply because I was strafing. Now if it was a for sure death sentence every time, then it would be OP. But that is not the case here.

On PVP its overpowered but on PVE its perfect. Hopefully they keep the PVE portion the same and nerf thr PVP version.

4 RepliesBecause you have to charge them to shoot them lol
