Please modify or remove/change depleted hand cannon bounty
I play a gunslinger PvE and use hand cannons as part of my character makeup. I was super happy to get an exotic bounty for a hand cannon, until I ran into the depleted hand cannon bounty.
This is the most unfun, unfair bounty to a non-PvPer in the entire set. I don't PvP. I am terrible at it. Yet not only am I forced to have a positive K/D ratio, I have to do it with void damage. Well, 4 hours, 22 matches later, I have 7 points. Thanks, Bungie. It's enough to make me stop playing until you fix this ridiculous requirement.
I don't want to hear from players "learn to play" "stop sucking" etc. I am not good at PvP. I raid in MMOs, I PvE, that is what I enjoy and am good at. It's not fair that a style of weapon has this PvP step, and void damage to boot.
I can't use my specials, I can't use my grenades, I can't even hit with my hand cannon or an auto rifle because by the time I switch, I'm dead.
I have a shot gun, which only works in some cases (I went shotgun to shotgun and lost), I have a rocket launcher, and a sniper rifle that does void.
I got up to 34 then died 17 times in a row. Back to zero. So what am I doing now? Hiding in a corner under heavy ammo comes out, blowing up 2-4 guardians, and hiding again.
I'm completely hurting my teammates.
This is not fun, it is not fair to non-pvpers, and it should be changed.

Sorry but this bounty isn't for you. I had both Bad Juju and Thorn bounties and deleted both because I didn't want to do PVP. I didn't earn them and I am not complaining. I could have easily done both but I don't feel like playing crucible for more than 1 hour

As a Hand Cannon Hunter who is also not good at PvP, it wasn't very hard. Only took a few hours with The Comedian and The Culling. Did you try playing Rumble instead of the team-based playlists? At least that way you don't have to worry about dragging down a team.

I started out playing terribly, but I actually got a ton better at pvp because of this bounty. I did control and usually defended a point with a sniper. I had it easier than you though, I'm a warlock with Atheon's epilogue.

fun fact...you DON'T need a positive k/d. you need a k/d ratio, with void weapon of less then .5 if you can't manage a .5 kd with void weapons...then you don't DESERVE thorn...also thorn sucks, at least for now, wait for the buff.

How about you just give up then? If it's too hard you can always abandon it. Besides, Thorn sucks major balls anyway. Looks cool, performs horribly. Just get the Fatebringer from Raid on hard.

Get a void machine gun instead of your rocket launcher you'll rack up way more heavy weapon kills.

The method I found to the best for me to complete this bounty was to use was a void shotgun and a void LMG and I played control and only control.. for two reasons.. 1. you have three areas on the map where the enemy will always be around at any given time. 2. You have support from fellow team members so you are less likely to get crushed going solo!, And either they will help defeat the other player or you may pick up a quick kill due to low health if your team mate lost his gun battle basically my tactic for this was to stay close to either of the heavy ammo spawns and just drift between capture points picking up kills ect as you go avoid camping the ammo spawn keep moving and when you hear the announcement saying "heavy ammo on the way" book it to a spawn and then wait to grab ammo look for a point being capped or if its almost done go to the next one dont rush in in the hope to wipe out the entire team cos if your solo you'll get fried just pace youself pick targets and aim to finish positive you'll have it done relatively quickly..

Play skirmish or don't get my guns. Thorn is reserved for players who can play. If you can't hack it in crucible, you can have a bad JuJu for your tears.

Easy way to do the bounty: 1. Farm the raid until you get atheon's epilogue 2. Wreck shop in crucible. 3. Get exotic.

Yeah, until they actually Fix Thorn, I'm not even gonna really attempt that part of the bounty. Not worth the aggravation. I'll just buy TDyK (The Devil you Know) for Vanguard marks and run that till I can get The Last Word or Hawkmoon when that comes to XBone. Really, these bounties should have an 'Or' feature. You either complete a PvP oriented objective, or a PvE objective. So that both sides can work it And enjoy the experience. If it's so many kills with Void in PvP, just make it so many Void Kills against Majors or Elites (or whatever those mobs with yellow and shield health are called). Just make it More so. Or I don't know, something just about as hard as what they make you aim for in PvP but in PvE. I don't know. Just my two cents.

1) Get strange coins 2) Buy exotic engrams from Xür/hope he sells Last Word/find exotic engrams by doing other PvE stuff 3) Long awaited profit after long period of time I'm in the same position as you, PvE oriented players who uses a Hand Cannon in his loadout. Tbh Thorn doesn't even seem worth it, seeing Last Word has a better exotic perk. Tbh Thorn should get String of Curses and Bad Juju should get Mark of the Devourer

I just finished it today, and it was absolutely dreadful. Atheon's Epilogue will be your ally for this Bounty. I absolutely dread PVP so I know how you feel, it sucks so bad.

Edited by donquixote13: 11/4/2014 4:51:08 AMA BIT LONG POST have a potato ready if you have a combination of atheons epilogue(raid legendary) auto rifle(with stability perk), the comedian shotgun and truth rocket launcher(all are void weapons including your primary) then you are in luck. i played through salvage and clash playlists ONLY in pvp with a bit of rumble playlist. the advantage in clash and salvage is that when someone revives you when you die, this does not count to the penalty(read it somewhere). and i chose these 3 playlists because you can easily manage enemies because its 3v3. and in rumble playlist, if you dont get kills and notice that you are going negative, just leave. no one will be harmed because you are not in a team. just kill them with atheons epilogue and every kill counts because it is a primary void weapon. the comedian is for CQC and when heavy ammos are available, truth rocket launcher comes in handy as it will almost always kill your enemy. i also suck at pvp but you'll get there eventually. key is patience. when you find yourself doing negative runs and raging mad, just rest for a bit or do pve to unwind. i just got my thorn and i am using it with my hunter. just wanna pass on my experience. the xyor part is the b*tch :P Hope this helps :) [spoiler]i did it in 1day with breaks in between when im raging :P[/spoiler]

Unfortunately you may have to keep the bounty on the back burner till you get a lil better. Id stick with skirmish and ask some from friends to give you a hand :)

Bounties should get you out of your comfort zone. They do that a lot for me. I'm really good at PvP, but I don't like it (New school PvP). The first time I had a vanguard fusion rifle bounty PvE, I said I would never use one again. Now I find myself attempting the fusion PvP bounties, because the vanguard bounties taught me how to use them. My roommate picked the invective on accident and almost dismantled it after a few games. Then I convinced him to give it a chance. Now I see him using shotguns all the time.

6 Repliesnot to sound like a huge dillhole....but i got atheons epilogue...primary with void damage and i refused to do that bounty until i had that weapon...once i got that...had the depleted hand cannon in a couple clash matches...

Edited by AsylumxX: 11/4/2014 4:34:35 AMI was having the same problem. Get a void fusion rifle or shotgun, and void rocket launcher. I'm finally up to 100 points after a 10 kill streak with my Truth. Atheon's epilogue is also really helpful for this. So get to vault raids and pray RNGesus grants you one. This bounty truly is ridiculous though, none of the other exotic bounties have penalties.

I managed to do it in about 5 hours using a green then blue void shotty, you just got to play smart about it, also i was a heroic raider in wow, you can do it.

13 RepliesTry having the one for Pocket Infinity without social skills and only average skill. THAT is harsh. Also, Thorns backstory makes this step essential. Someone else will have to back that up with lore but it's not like you NEED every exotic. You can't handle getting this specific one? Then you don't get it, simple as that.
