What this is here is truth. However, I see it differently. You CAN earn things in this game, you can earn your reputation by working through Bounties and Strikes, earn weapons by collecting the Marks and stuff like that. You can even earn exotics if you are lucky enough to get the bounty for them. Problem is, people are using the word "Earned" to make themselves look like entitled pricks rather than using it for what it means. I just got Plan C on a random loot drop from a 24 Strike. I didn't earn that, I got lucky. Unless you are actually working toward it, you aren't earning it, you're just lucky and your saying that you did indeed "earn" it, just makes you look like a jackass.

  • I think you're getting caught up in the terminology. Earn, required...whatever. However you want it worded, I think stronger items should be difficult to get. Rare items should be just that. Rare. I do think Xur should sell some exotics and some legendary. I don't think some of the stronger ones should be as simple as paying 17 coins for though. I have done several exotic bounties and it seems Xur sells items that are better for far far less work. There should be a better system in place.

  • exactly. earning implies that you were working towards it which implies intention. the only gear you can really say you earned is the raid gear. you knew the raid gear was a reward for doing the vault, so you completed the vault with the intent on receiving said gear. another thing to note on the raid is that it only rewards specific gear. while there is some RNG involved in what piece of the set you get, the fact is that it is exclusive. like how the exp boost is exclusive to the nightfall, hence you could say that you earned it

  • Whoa whoa, you're telling me RNG time investment isn't earning? That's like, crazy talk.

  • No way man, this is serious. I earned all that money I got when I sat at that slot machine for sixty hours and won jackpot. I earned the shit out of it. All those other people that have full time jobs and are getting money at a slow, reliable, steady rate are scrubs that are getting welfare money for being casuals. But seriously, that's literally the "earner" argument. Earners are the most idiotic people I have seen on the internet in a long time. They seem to be incapable of understanding that they are arguing that hard guaranteed dedicated long term work is casual when pulling a slot machine arm on a chest or boss kill is not, in fact random, but somehow earned. All these asshats earned was the chance to pull the lever again with a slightly higher chance of payout. They're just mad that there's a way to 100% guarantee payout on a different machine after enough lever pulls. Which, I might add, is also totally available to them at all times.

  • Done countless tiger strike = nothing exotic, done countless crucible again = nothing exotic, I am talking not even for other team members. Only until recently when I got a shadow price from nightfall but again, hunter exotic helmet for 1 of my team member. Talking about luck. I only have 1 lvled character not 3 like some of those people said that I can use to farm coins. Because I do have a freaking job unlike them.

  • I'll put this in perspective to further your point of view, of which I 100% agree with. Day 1 of the Iron Banner, I get into a couple matches before I head out for work. In match 2, I finish with a 3.33 K/D, 2nd on my team, despite the guy in 1st only having a match ending K/D of 2.0. (Scored more points then me, whatevz). We were both rewarded with bupkis. Nada. Nothing. The guy at the bottom of our team? He finished 0.40. And what was he rewarded with? A Decoherant class engram...AND ICE BREAKER. So did he "earn" his exotic from basically pulling up the rear and being a meat sheild? Or did he just get the benefit of the RNGods being extremely kind to him? To anyone who answers "he earned it", you're an idiot.

  • That statement is so uninformative, I feel like I've lost brain cells reading it...
