Had a great night for legendaries. I picked up both hand cannons within an hour an a half. One from random mob and another from a blue engram at the Cryptarch. Now which one do I level? I am leaning towards the Devil but I want to hear your thoughts.

Lord High Fixer! (I'm being a little bias though because thats the gun i'm using right now and I have a GOD roll)

1 ReplyEdited by WhatHityou: 10/10/2014 4:25:40 PMI think the dropped version have random stats only the vendor ones have the "standard" stats for those guns. So the question is what two major perks did the two drops have?

Lord higher fixer!

1 ReplyThanks for the advice. I have the exotic bounty for thorn but the PvP requirement is making me sad. :( I am a fan of the hand cannon or as I affectionately call them, "MANCANNONS" :) I am leveling the DYK on my Hunter and I since I got a few Warlock legendaries from cryptarch rolls, I rolled a warlock and I am leveling the LHF on that toon. You can check them both out on my profile. I love them both. I sometimes just get into a grove and one-shot enemies in droves when farming for materials.

1 ReplyFrom the looks of the devil you know perks you have I'd stick with that

Devil you know. I might be a little bias because of the name though lol

2 RepliesMy favorite guns in the game are hand cannons BY FAR and have had many of them. I currently have The Last Word, Thorn, and The Lord High Fixer. Honestly I like all three for different reasons but The Lord High fixer as an all around gun is better IMO. I have Thorn and The Last Word both maxed at 300 dmg and TLHF still does more headshot damage. The perks are also awesome, radar stays up when aiming and when you aim the gun gets longer range (which I aim every time I shoot it anyways). Granted this is for one bought from the crucible vendor. If you find one from an engram the perks may be different. The Devil You know has slightly more stability and I think slightly faster reload speed and has 12 shots instead of 11. I could have gone either way since they both have nice perks and look BA but I for one just leaned toward having more range with my handcannon. However if you have Thorn keep it since they are going to buff it pretty soon. I will also say that you should try to find Hawkmoon. It is awesome, on paper the specal abilities don't seem that great but shoot one and you'll know what I'm talking about. It has scout rifle range, above average fire rate and the impact is the highest of all the exotics. Thorn Pros: Poison dmg (keeps shielded enemies from shielding during poison), decent range, gun/sites look cool Cons: SLOW reload speed (even with faster reloading gauntlets), lower impact for a handcannon, lower stability, only has 6 shots The Last Word Pros: Automatic handcannon, extra headshot damage when hip fired, fantastic stability, 8 shots, reloads fast, Hilarious gun flip after melee, the classiest lookig exotic handcannon Cons: EXTREMELY low range, impact is the lowest of the exotics (unless you add a perk that lowers the range even more then it's even with Thorn) The Last Word Thoughts: This gun gives you huge rewards if you can accurately and reliably get headshots from the hip. If you don't like to hip fire this gun or you're just plain bad at it then I would honestly look elsewhere, however if you just want a hilarious and fun gun to shoot then this is definitely for you. Hawkmoon Pros: LONG range, 13 rounds in the chamber, highest impact exotic HC, looks boss, 3/13 rounds in mag do much higher dmg, fast reload (and of course it looks BA as well) Cons: Slowest shooting exotic HC (still faster than a legendary) The Lord High Fixer and The Devil You Know you can just look those up in the tower. I hope this helped and I'm sorry it's so long winded. I just LOVE me some handcannons! Let me know what you think! Cheers!

1 ReplyFatebringer. I know it's not a choice but it'll pop captain shields pretty damn quick.

It all depends on the perks. See which is better. Then also think what activities you will be doing. I chose lord high fixer, even though dyk is better slightly in pve, because it has better perks.
-
My personal choice between the two is Lord High Fixer. I bought mine from the Crucible Quartermaster, so I can't speak to the abilities that yours might have though. The big perk of mine is that radar remains active will aiming down the sights. Love it.

1 ReplyI just got fatebringer from the hard raid templar. It's pretty amazing but I still want hawkmoon. That's like the one exotic I want but I feel like I'll never get it.

The Last Word, because its exactly that.

Thorn

I was comparing the two and went with DYK. Huge fan of it already. I don't even have all the upgrades and it was making a mess. The increased stability after hit is silly. I can aim and plink something then just hip fire all his friwndss down with the crowd control buff. Its has a little less impact than my thorn but the recoil and mag size MOOORE than make up for it. Lirs high fixer is solid too just not as familiar with it. Look at the perks and roll the one that best fits your play style.

Edited by I FARMER l: 10/10/2014 4:50:28 PMThe Devil you know. The increased damage on kill is great for pvp and pve

Depends on the abilities. I have The Devil You Know but mine is a game breaking gun with its abilities and one of its upgrades. Mine has Zen moment which increases stability, Crowd Control and Send it.
