In-depth Guide to Using the File Share and Posting in the Files Forum

As people posting files in the wrong forum, or asking how to post in the files forum, has been a persistent problem, I have decided to create this guide to demonstrate how. SECTION 1 - Uploading or editing your file share through the Xbox 360. SECTION 2 - Viewing, posting and editing your files from bungie.net SECTION 3 - Linking to your thread.
SECTION 1
Accessing your File Share 1. While on the menu screen or in a lobby, press Start to access settings. 2. From the Media Tab, select File Share. Uploading a File 1. While in your file share, select the slot you wish to place the file in. 2. A menu will come up. Choose the type of file. 3. Select the file you wish to upload. 4. The file is now in your share. NOTE: If you want to upload a screenshot, there is no need to do this. Screenshots are automatically uploaded when you take them, and can be accessed from the 360 through the Media tab. Deleting a File 1. While in your File share, select the slot containing the file you wish to delete. 2. Select Delete.
SECTION 2
Accessing your File Share 1. Go into your Halo 3 Service Record. This can be done by clicking ‘Halo 3’ in your user bar, as shown here. 2. From this page click ‘File Share’. Alternatively if you are viewing a screenshot, click ‘Hi-Res Screenshots’. Posting in the Files Forum 1a. If you are posting a file, find the file in your file share, and click ‘Publish to Forums’, as shown here.NOTE:Now you click 'Discuss', but it does the same job. 1b.If you are posting a screenshot, click ‘Hi-Res Screenshots’, and select the tab ‘Service Record Gallery’. Find the screenshot you wish to post, and click ‘Publish to Community Screenshots’, as shown here. 2. You will now be taken to the usual post creation page, appearing like this. Enter a subject, which may be the title of your file or something completely different, and a description for your file. Then click ‘Submit’. 3. A thread will be created in the appropriate forum for your file. It’s that simple. Deleting a File 1. While in your file share, click the small arrow on the appropriate file. 3. This brings up a dropdown menu, as shown here. 2. Select ‘Delete from File Share’.
SECTION 3
You may wish to link your thread to other threads, such as a map to its gametype, and vice versa. To do this, copy the address of the thread you wish to link to into the following code: Link So if I wanted to link to the address http://www.bungie.net it would look like this: Link

That just about covers everything. If you think I should add anything to this guide, feel free to post below. [Edited on 04.12.2008 2:08 PM PDT]
