An Inquiry

So, I've been on the forums rather frequently of late, either while I'm working or when I'm home and the wife is watching her shows or what have you; but I'm becoming more and more confused by the state of things. Here's my humble take on the situation: Bungie (our beloved Bungie) spent a lot of time and money into putting out a great game for everyone, and while there were some shortcomings (incredibly minor, in my opinion) the game was overall quite good and has persisted to be so. Now, at the same time, there have been an ungodly influx of complaints from the community towards Bungie, towards which I have seen a number of patches and fixes to resolve (though some of which I wouldn't have minded either way). This is all fine and good, and is to be expected with any new game in this day-and-age. But, here's the confusion: Why all the rage fits, threats to sue, whining, and overall poor sportsmanship in the community? At first, I thought it was all just the usual internet trolls doing their thing, but this behavior has completely overtaken the community, and I don't get why. I'm even starting to see a pattern of people putting down players who genuinely love this game, ON THE GAME'S OWN WEBSITE! This baffles me, for a slew of reasons, but mainly because, for me, if I don't like something I just STOP DOING THAT THING! If you purchased a game, dumped hundreds of hours into playing it, and STILL AREN'T HAPPY, you're exhibiting insane behavior. It's akin to hitting yourself in the face with a hammer over and over again just because it makes you feel pain. Mind you, this is not to say that I don't support constructive criticism (#Feedback), but the incessant whining has no place here. This forum should be for those of us who love the game, and if you have a serious concern or complaint, take it somewhere that it will do some good and then leave it alone. If things don't change, or the change upsets you more, trade your game in, don't practice hypocrisy by playing the game and then complaining that you hate it. So, then, with all that being said, let's get down to the inquiry itself: Would someone please explain to me (in the most humane way possible, please) why this has come to pass? If you love the game, tell me your take on this. If you hate the game, I want to hear why you're posting, too. And please, for the love of gaming, let's be as kosher as possible to each other, hm?

  • I have scrolled through the forums since Destiny has come out and let me tell you that right now things are a lot calmer than then. What you described was just boiling but since the patches things have calmed down, now it's the iron banner and the discovery of dlc. iron banner works for the most part how it should and I get the feeling those posting about the dlc just want to fan the flames. I am seeing more creative and suggestive posts pop up now which I am thoroughly enjoying. I think the community was dealing with the "In" crowd and now the "In" crowd has moved on to other things.
