Turn off Swearing

My family (Me, my wife, 13 year old daughter, and 4 year old son) love to play Halo together! Halo 2 has a lot more swearing. Is there a way to turn off the swear words??? I know is some games there are separate volume controls for sound effects, music, voice, etc. I cannot find anything like that in Halo 2. Any suggestions would be appreciated! We don't wont to stop play but we can't have our kids hearing Master Chief cuss. Thanks!

 • Why are there so many people against 13-year-olds playing? I started playing Halo at 12, and I'm still a good kid, not violent or anything. And I'm pretty sure you guys saw an "R" movie before the age 17. Oh, and my opinion on the swearing part: 13-year-olds already know all the cuss words, so it shouldn't make a difference. As for the for your son... eh, I don't know. Probably shouldn't be playing (or watching) Halo at all.

 •
But good god, you let a FOUR year old play Halo? What is WRONG with you?
lol...I doubt a 4 year old could even understand halo. Maybe daddy wants a few easy kills...eheheee.....Doom was easy enough for me, but I was afriad of that madeline show...I was really afraid...of that maid person...my sister used to watch it and I had nightmares for weeks.....bad memories....anyways, a 4 year old is just an easy kill...

 • When I was 13, and now im 14, I knew all the swears....its just kinda awkward when one of my parents walks in and hears sarge....lol Anyways, I played Butcher Bay, it was an awsome game, and there was gore on/off, but no censoring. If you have played Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, they bleep it out, and its pretty funny...but they could make it downloadable content, but I dont see why they would turn off swears in an M rated game. At least the arent saying f***. I dont see why halo was ever rated M though, most likely from the flood.(I like the flood though, I dont want them out), he was right, it is about as violent as star wars, maybe less, as there is no missing limbs. And I dont see HOW anyone could say they used halo to practice sniping, even if this is an old issue. Theres a fine line between sniping with a controller and a screen, and sniping with a real gun, with real recoil. I don't see why a 4 year old would even understand how to play halo though...I played doom when I was 4, but halo takes strategy....sometimes....

 • I'm 13, And I play Halo 2. I play M games, and watch Rated R movies. I don't feel the urge to kill someone or cuss, I dont really care. Plus, I learn more stuff in school than you can imagine.

 • Halo 2 IS NOT THAT VIOLENT!!!! all there is, is blood, and they are just aliens! And also, master cheif does not swear :), he says "... piss this thing off..." but thats not a real swear word, but as for those marines... maybe dont help them and they will die, then when they are dead they wont swear! :)

Get a life you idiot, people like you should be thrown into jail and in your case into a youth detention center.

 • Swearing on Live is a whole new game. It takes on a life of its own when people are conversating before a match. I think its hilarious some of the things people say bring me to hysterical tears. The smacktalking in the matches get even better. If your having issues with the mild swearing of the single player campain then never by any means get Xbox live because your in for quite a shock.

 • I believe your answer would be to put the game on mute and have no subtitles... rocket science really... did you seriously post that?

 • "Come on guys... Halo is about one of the least violent shoot them up games on the market! It is not gory. Body parts do not come off. Decapitation does not occur. You are fighting against aliens not humans. In multiplayer mode you wear armor, a human face is not even seen. The violence in Halo can be compared to the violence in any of the Star Wars, Men In Black or the old Star Trek movies. Movies such as The Lord Of The Rings, Spiderman or Aliens are filled with gore and violence that is NOT found in Halo. So far ass, bastard, sun of a -blam!-, hell, s**t have been heard while playing Halo 2. In Halo it occurred once in a while but Halo 2 its a lot more. We have had to limit multiplayer mode only. By the way, before you start talking about parenting skill, make sure you have kids and you are not a kid your self LOL!" This is all I got to say: M is 17+. Game over.

 •
Posted by: Nexalicious Theres a big difference with what i'm saying. An option to turn off cursing isn't going to alter the game in a way that could and would change anything significant. I'm saying that he has just as much right as you people to fix the optimatch. Cause thats all this patch will do for him. Fix a problem. And with the movie bit, you just aren't creative enough. He could do as my aunt does. Watches the movie and records with another VCR. She leaves out the parts that she doesn't want her kids to see. She has the movie titanic without the boob drawing scene.
Nope...sorry. I don't see a difference in what you're saying. Your arguement was that the original poster was entited to play the game in any fashion he chose, as he'd invested his 50 bucks. That is incorrect. He paid for a product, and got that product. His 50 buck doesn't give him the right to introduce changes or alter a product. We're not talking about patching a bug. We're talking about introducing a new option and/or altering the existing game. As for the whole movie thing, what your aunt does is her choice. She has the tools at hand to make alterations if she wishes. *I* would question showing Titanic to anyone who isn't old enough to see a breast, but that's me. (I would also question showing someone a movie that contains something that they shouldn't see to begin with.) However, there IS a case before legal proceedings where a COMPANY was selling copies of Titanic that were altered in the exact same way, and the Director's Guild and Hollywood were rightfully ticked off that THEIR product had been altered and resold in that altered form. But that's an entirely different subject, dealing with artist's rights and such. The fact of the matter is that as a consumer, you got the product you paid for. An "M" rated game. To suggest that it's the producers responsibility to alter that product to make it more family-friendly (when it was KNOWN as a Mature-rated product to begin with) is rather ridiculous. It's the parents job to protect their children...not Bungies, nor Microsoft. If you didn't want M-rated language, you shouldn't buy M-rated games.

 • Gooeymax, There is no way to turn off the language unless you turn off your speakers. Aside from that, you probably shouldn't have your 4-year old watching or playing Halo or Halo 2. As for the 13 year old, that's a bit better, but still debatable. For one, your daughter will hear much worse than anything that is said in Halo 2, Believe me. However, it still has a fair amount of violence, which would make me question if I would let her play it just yet. Halo has less violence than GTA or Mortal Combat Deception perhaps, but it still has a lot of violence. Maybe 1 more year for her, but the 4-year old shouldn't be playing Halo 1 or 2.

 • Your playing a game where you use a gun to blow the heads of of aliens, and see blood fly everywhere.... And your worried about swearing? I wouldn't expose my kids to this game, even if there was a filter. I don't care if they learn to cuss, as long as they know its wrong, but teaching them violence is a little to much for a 4 year old to handel....

 • Seriously, there are way too many kids on these forums who can't handle their testosterone. Take deep breaths, kiddies, relaz. You don't have to try & flame everyone.

 • hmmmmm, tom and gerry, the antics of 2 animated charcters, that yes, they beat each other up with all kinds of things. Did they curse, as a matter of fact they didnt talk at all. And, yes, my parents were duches, if your was thats your own opinion on that. I have no problems with calling someone a name, but leave there family out of it (i could have also called his kids duches, but there really is no need seeing is how like father like son) But thats not whats this is about. This is about me being bored at work and looking for a little amusement till it gets busy again. And if flaming this dude and anyone else that come along asking stupid question will give me that little piece of joy until i get off work and spend about 8 hours online tonight on halo2, then so be it....... P.S. I can almost rember when i was 13, only had like 3 or 4 pubes, and 3000 zits, testicles in my stomach, and a voice like a little schoolgirl. But at least i stayed away from the big boys forums and wore real underpants. Now if only they can M rate the forums and require age checks.

 • And besides, if the option was there and he did use it, it wouldn't change the text at all. Ragety-ass fleet, ragety fleet. See what I mean. The more and more I think about it, they just put those words in there for effect. Its the same reason people use the words on live all the time. They think "Hey, I used -blam!-, i'm a badass". It just wasn't really needed. [Edited on 11/18/2004 1:52:53 PM]
